Chapter 589 Everyone is Talking About Whether You Were Recently Dumped by a Woman

Daniel knew it—Della hadn't let go of him!

She understood his feelings, and she would definitely call him!

Daniel was terrified of any delay that might upset Della again. Right now, it was Della who had the right to be angry, not him. After all, he hadn't won her back yet.

He picked up his phone and pressed the answer button without even checking the caller ID.

Before the person on the other end could speak, Daniel's throat tightened, feeling both sour and sweet, and he called out, "Della—"

"Daniel, it's me." Margaret's voice came through the phone.

That response instantly chilled Daniel to the bone.

So it wasn't Della.

"You didn't save my number? You mistook me for Della," Margaret said, puzzled.

Daniel rubbed his forehead, holding the phone, and instead of answering, he asked, "Margaret, calling this late, what's up?"

"Felicity's birthday dinner, Raymond and I are planning to host it the day after tomorrow. You should come. How are things with Della? Bring her along."

These words felt like needles to Daniel's heart. He sighed, "I can't even find her. It's my fault."

"Daniel, don't be discouraged. Della probably went to clear her mind. She'll come back once she's done."

After Margaret said a few comforting words, Felicity suddenly burst into tears. Raymond's voice came through the phone, urging Margaret to hang up because Felicity wanted her mom.

Having a family meant that friendships and friends often had to take a back seat to children and partners.

Strangely, if it were before, hearing about their loving relationship would have made Daniel feel a bit uncomfortable. But this time, he felt nothing.

Maybe he had unknowingly let go of his obsession with Margaret.

He didn't really like Margaret; he had just turned his gratitude and protection for her into a habit.

Now, he had someone he truly liked, someone he wanted to protect like a princess. But she wasn't giving him a chance.

Waiting for Della's call had driven him mad. He stayed up all night, afraid of missing her call.

He shamelessly sent her a message on WhatsApp: [How have you been lately?]

He edited it many times, but in the end, his trembling fingers sent out this clichéd greeting.

But the message didn't go through because she had blocked him.

He asked Walter for her WhatsApp number, planning to reconnect with Della.

Walter was shocked. The usually composed Daniel was resorting to such childish tactics.

Reluctantly, Walter gave him the number.

But his hopes were dashed again.

Della's WhatsApp account had been deactivated.

Did she hate him that much?

Hate him enough to block his calls and WhatsApp, and even deactivate her number?

She wanted him to never be able to contact her again.

Daniel found this hard to accept. He had overestimated Della's feelings for him.

He had deeply hurt her.

After he had smoked all night, his mind was filled with thoughts of her. He went to his study to work.

But as soon as he entered the study, he hallucinated, seeing Della asleep on a pile of documents.

He remembered carrying Della to the guest room back then.

She mistook him for Gerald and mumbled, "Gerald—"

Thinking about it now, Daniel still felt uncomfortable. He and Gerald looked nothing alike, so how could she hold his hand and call out another man's name?

He hadn't slept all night.

With dark circles under his eyes, he went to work at The Taylor Group.

Walter reported to him, and seeing Daniel's state, he was startled. Then he gossiped, "Did you stay up all night talking? Good thing you two aren't together, or people might think—"

He didn't finish the sentence, but everyone understood.

Daniel shot him a cold look. He hadn't stayed up talking; he had smoked all night, brooding.

He planned to keep these embarrassing details to himself.

During the meeting, he was in a foul mood and lashed out at several department managers.

As soon as Daniel left, a group of people pulled Walter aside, asking, "Walter, Mr. Taylor is usually so approachable. Why is he so irritable today?"

"Walter, tell us, is he not in a good mental state?"

"I think he's heartbroken. Got dumped."

"Such a handsome Mr. Taylor, and a woman doesn't want him? Poor guy, I'll forgive his temper."

Walter listened with a forced smile, then grabbed his phone and files, heading to the CEO's office. He found Daniel smoking again.

"Cut down on the smoking; it's bad for your health. Also, people in the company are gossiping that you got dumped and are in a bad mental state," Walter said, holding back laughter.

Daniel's face grew colder as he glared at him. "Is that funny?"

"I'm laughing at my own thoughts, not yours," Walter said, refusing to admit it.

The ash from his cigarette fell into the ashtray, and Walter continued to gossip, "You're so angry, is it because Ms. Vaughn didn't add you back?"

Daniel squinted, his expression darkening further.

He grabbed a file and threw it at Walter. "When you find a girlfriend, don't give me a chance to laugh at you."

"Don't worry, when I date, I won't mistreat my wife. You won't get the chance," Walter said, catching the file and placing it back on the desk.

"Don't speak too soon, or you'll be embarrassed later," Daniel said, biting his cigarette and scoffing.

Walter's smile faded as he sat on the edge of the desk. "It's just a woman. If she's that stubborn, it means you two aren't meant to be. Don't force it. Listen to your father and go on that blind date next week. You might find that you can't forget your ex because your current partner isn't good enough."

"You've been single for so long, and you're teaching me about relationships? You dare teach, but I won't listen. I'd rather ask Raymond for advice," Daniel said, smoking and mocking.

Walter replied, "If it were me, I'd move on. No one is indispensable."

"I heard you placed Nia under your wing?" Daniel asked, squinting.

Walter rubbed his nose and finally admitted, "She was jobless and needed a place to stay. She wanted to use The Taylor Group's dorm until she found a suitable job. I helped her out because she helped you escape. I did it for you, don't overthink it."
