Chapter 614 Marriage

Lyric said, "No way they're gonna have their wedding as fast as we did."

"You never know. His wife is a top streamer now and pretty much runs the whole sales department for The Taylor Group. She's a big deal in the streaming world. You should check her out when you're bored, maybe send her some gifts or something. Walter was teasing me this morning. His wife has already met both sets of parents, and they've all given their thumbs up. Nia's pregnant, so they're probably setting a wedding date soon. Nia wants to get married before she starts showing, otherwise, she thinks the wedding dress won't look good. She's a public figure, and Walter's family is super accommodating to her," Daniel explained.

Lyric felt a mix of envy and jealousy, but not hatred. She playfully punched Daniel's chest, frustrated. "Look at them, then look at us. Why is our love story so complicated? Why does everything go so smoothly for your friend?"

"Actually, we started off pretty well too. It's my fault for not treating you right. Lyric, it's all on me."

"That's why you need to treat me even better from now on."

Just then, the alarm clock went off.

Daniel sat up and started getting dressed.

Lyric got up to help him, buttoning his shirt. "Dating you feels like a spy rendezvous. Who knows when we'll see each other again."

"We'll see each other soon, Lyric, I promise."

"Daniel, say you miss me."

"Lyric, I miss you."

"Say you love me."

"Lyric, I love you."

"When we're apart, you have to think about me every day. No slacking off. And don't look at other girls. If any girl asks for your WhatsApp, you can't give it to her."

"Okay. I'll do as you say."

Daniel hugged her tightly. Love was like this—without obstacles, it became mundane, like stagnant water. But with challenges, it became intense, making you want to be with each other every second of the day.

He kissed her cheek, then pushed her away and climbed out the window, jumping off the balcony.

Lyric watched from the balcony, her heart racing. Luckily, he used to be a narcotics officer and had training; otherwise, they wouldn't be able to meet.

After a sleepless night, she went back to bed to catch up on sleep.

Around noon, Remy opened the door to bring her lunch and noticed something was off. Lyric's schedule was unusual, and there were cigarette butts in the trash. Lyric didn't smoke, so it was clear someone had been in her room last night.

Remy didn't wake her up but took the food away and closed the door.

If Daniel truly realized his mistakes and could make Lyric happy, Remy hoped they would reconcile. So she kept this from Zephyr.

Lyric slept until early afternoon when a maid brought her some fruit.

She ate while searching for The Taylor Group's streaming channel on her tablet and found videos featuring Nia.

She clicked on one and saw how lively Nia was. She was beautiful and had a charming personality. Lyric found Nia's personal account and sent her a private message.

Nia was live streaming on her account.

Lyric jumped in and immediately sent $1 million worth of gifts, shooting straight to the top of the leaderboard.

Then she started flooding the chat with messages, expressing her admiration for Nia: [You're so beautiful, and I really like you. Love you, love you.]

She added a bunch of kiss emojis.

The chat went wild with fans speculating about which wealthy admirer had taken a liking to Nia.

After watching Nia's stream, Lyric left a message asking to add her on WhatsApp.

Nia shared her WhatsApp number, and they connected.

Before Lyric could say anything, Nia sent a photo. Lyric opened it to see Nia and Walter's marriage certificate.

[Sir, I'm married. Thank you for supporting me in the stream, but I already have a husband. Sorry.]

Lyric realized Nia had misunderstood.

She sent a message to clarify.

[Nia, I'm Daniel's wife, Lyric. I heard you got married and wanted to congratulate you.]

Nia: [Oh, I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding. By the way, when are you guys tying the knot? Cade must be eager for Daniel to get married. We're still working on it. Hoping to catch some of your good luck.]

Lyric, never one to hold back on compliments, sent another message.

[But Nia, you really are stunning. I've seen many celebrities, and you have no flaws.]

Nia: [Really? It's all fake. All thanks to plastic surgery.]

Lyric's phone was secretly given to her by Remy, who warned her to be careful not to let Zephyr find out. Lyric felt grateful to have such a protective mother.

Days passed by.

Daniel would message her on WhatsApp every day. But recently, more bodyguards had been added at home, making their meetings increasingly difficult.

Lyric began to suspect Zephyr knew about her activities and had installed cameras on her balcony.

Now there was no escape, with surveillance from every angle.

She vented to Daniel on WhatsApp, and he patiently comforted her, even defending Zephyr.

What they didn't know was that their conversations were being monitored by someone else.

But that was a story for another time.

Fortunately, Lyric had Nia to chat with, and they found many common interests, becoming friends.

One day, Lyric saw a post from Nia announcing her marriage.

It was a picture of their marriage certificate and Nia's vow of love: [Before I met you, I thought I'd always be alone. After meeting you, you helped me find the best version of myself.]

In the comments, Walter was the first to reply: [Honey, you'll have a lifetime to understand me.]

Raymond joked in the comments: [Walter, it's rare to see you being poetic.]

Walter replied to Raymond: [My wife liked a car yesterday. Hurry up and send the wedding gift.]

Lyric wanted to comment but feared Zephyr would find out and cause trouble for Daniel. So she privately messaged Nia: [Nia, congratulations on your wedding. Best wishes.]
