Chapter 443 Raymond, Hug Me
The parrot blinked, staring intently at Margaret.
She gently stroked its sleek, black feathers.
Margaret couldn't help but smile. "Raymond likes Margaret."
The parrot remained silent.
"Come on, say it. If you do, I'll buy you some treats. Maybe I'll even take you home," Margaret coaxed, her voice softening as she crouched down, focusing all her attention on the bird.
Still, the parrot said nothing.
Suddenly, the sound of tires screeching against the pavement filled the air.
Margaret turned around and saw a black Rolls-Royce pulling up at the entrance of The Hughes Manor.
She recognized the license plate—it was Raymond's car!
Margaret quickly stood up, her eyes fixed on the car door as it opened.
Alvin was the first to step out.
He opened a large black umbrella and then the rear door of the car.
Margaret saw Raymond step out.
He wore a black coat that fit him perfectly, his golden-ratio physique wrapped in luxurious fabric.
Despite his hair having turned white, he still exuded an air of nobility.
His profile was sharp, his expression cold and stern.
Raymond had his back to Margaret.
Suddenly, a woman's voice called out. "Raymond."
Raymond's body jolted.
He slowly turned his head.
Large snowflakes fell furiously.
Under the dim streetlights, the once bleak snow seemed to gain warmth.
Margaret saw Raymond turn around.
She couldn't contain her joy, excitement, and emotion. She forgot all about the parrot on the ground and ran towards Raymond, the man she had been longing for.
The short distance felt incredibly long to Margaret.
Countless memories flashed before her eyes, all of them beautiful.
"Margaret, if you dare watch a movie with someone else again, I'll make sure you can't get out of bed for two months, believe it or not?"
"Margaret, say you love me."
"Raymond, I love you. Forever and always, with undying love. Margaret was born to love Raymond."
"This is the watch I gave you. Don't take it off, got it? I want you to think of me whenever you're tired at work."
"Raymond, let's get married. Like an ordinary couple, living a happy life together until we're old and gray."
The sweet words of the past echoed in her ears.
Even now, as she thought of them, her heart raced and her ears turned red.
She wanted to tell Raymond that she wasn't dead, that she was still alive. She had forgotten everything and everyone, but she remembered him and all their beautiful memories.
Her snow boots crunched on the thick snow, making a squeaky sound.
Margaret wasn't one for exercise, and maybe she was too excited, but even this short run left her slightly out of breath.
She was a bit winded.
When she reached him, Alvin's eyes were filled with shock as he saw Margaret.
He was about to speak when Margaret, without any hesitation, threw her arms around Raymond.
Snowflakes brushed past her cheeks, landing on her hair.
She used to be so afraid of the cold, but now she didn't feel it at all. Her heart was burning with warmth because Raymond was in her arms.
"Raymond, I finally found you! We're finally together again! Do you know how much I've suffered waiting for this day? When I woke up in the hospital, I realized I had lost all my memories. But I still remembered you, remembered everything about us. I saw on TV that you were holding a funeral for me, and your hair had turned white. So I hurried to get better and come back to you. Raymond, I love you. I realized I love you so much, so very much. Seeing you with white hair because of me made me both touched and guilty. I'll love you even more from now on."
The more Margaret spoke, the more emotional she became, her nose tingling.
Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
Her throat felt tight.
Tears fell onto his black coat, disappearing instantly.
But Raymond didn't hug her back.
He stood there, stiff, letting her hold him.
Margaret found it strange.
Then, Raymond pushed her away.
Yes, she hugged him, and he didn't respond. Instead, he pushed her away.
His eyes were cold as he looked at Margaret.
Margaret thought he hadn't processed it yet and didn't blame him.
Tears still fell.
She cried tears of joy, her hand helplessly covering her mouth, her eyelashes trembling with excitement. "Is it too much of a surprise? So you haven't reacted yet? It's okay, Raymond."
"I" Raymond frowned, trying to speak.
Margaret interrupted, "Don't talk yet. Raymond, listen to me. Listen to what I have to say."
Despite the heavy snowfall and the freezing temperature, her gaze was burning, her confession so direct and passionate.
"Raymond, this experience made me realize I love you more than I thought. I can't live without you. I forgot everyone else but remembered you, which means Margaret was born to love you. This time, I won't hesitate. Even if many people oppose our marriage, I'll stand firm. I don't believe you have ulterior motives or that you'll treat me badly. A man who turned white overnight at my funeral can't possibly marry me and then discard me."
"I want to marry my man. If I can't marry the one I love, I'd rather be alone forever. Raymond, let's take wedding photos tomorrow, get our marriage license, and have a wedding. I want to be your bride. I want to be with you forever. "You've suffered during this time, Raymond. Hug me, please? I miss your embrace." Margaret spoke earnestly, looking at Raymond.
At this moment, she didn't care about being reserved.
She didn't know what restraint was anymore.
When you love someone, you should express it bravely and openly.
She couldn't hide it.
She wanted Raymond to respond to her, just as she had hugged him.
But Raymond remained indifferent, standing there coldly.
It was as if her tears and joy had nothing to do with him.
Margaret didn't notice anything wrong because Raymond was always reserved and aloof. He rarely showed his emotions, but she believed he loved her just as much as she loved him.
"Raymond, hug me, please?" Margaret's throat tightened, her eyelashes glistening with snowflakes.
She asked again.
But Raymond still didn't move.
He remained detached.
Margaret felt a pang of sadness, tears streaming down her face. "We've been through life and death. It's okay to show some affection occasionally, right? Please, Raymond, hug me."
