Chapter 311 Even Just a Glance
"I heard you recently terminated your collaboration with Horizon Enterprise. What did Evelyn do to upset you? I remember she was one of the more capable ones at Horizon Enterprise. She should be quite competent." Sarah pursed her red lips, speaking softly while observing Raymond's expression.
Raymond's eyes turned icy upon hearing her purpose. "Are you here to persuade me?"
"Not really. Evelyn did come to me for help. But I think, Raymond, no matter what you do, I support your decision."
Raymond's expression softened a bit.
Sarah adjusted the coat on her shoulders and began, "I heard you promised her that if Margaret forgave her, you would continue the collaboration?"
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
"I heard that Evelyn did a lot to force Margaret to forgive her. She intercepted Margaret several times at the Hughes Manor, but Margaret didn't want to deal with her. Margaret asked her to come to me for help. I think Margaret meant for me to help her get rid of Evelyn, right?"
"How can she do that? Evelyn's gone too far," Sarah complained.
Raymond instantly took in her words. So, Margaret was upset because Evelyn was harassing her?
He had intended to use Evelyn to get closer to Margaret and ease their relationship, but Evelyn, that fool, went and pestered Margaret.
Raymond's face turned frosty as he smoked.
Seeing her goal achieved, Sarah left his private villa.
Raymond picked up his phone and called Alvin: "No need to wait any longer. Terminate all business collaborations with Horizon Enterprise immediately!"
"Mr. Howard, why the sudden change? Did you hear something?" Alvin was quite surprised on the phone. He had thought Raymond was just giving Horizon Enterprise a small warning and that the collaboration would continue.
Raymond hung up irritably and tugged at his tie, realizing he had messed up another thing.
On Evelyn's side, she thought everything would be fine with Sarah's help.
But then the boss of Horizon Enterprise called and scolded her, "Evelyn, I can't believe you. I asked you to find a way to smooth things over with Raymond, and what have you been doing? Are you stupid?"
"Boss, Mr. Howard hasn't resumed our collaboration? That shouldn't be," Evelyn said, holding her phone, unable to accept the news.
How did things not go as she had imagined?
The boss yelled over the phone. "Just now, I received a call from Alvin at the Hughes Group. They officially terminated our collaboration! I've lost a billion-dollar order, and you have to make up for it! Otherwise, I'm not done with you!"
"Boss, I've been with the company for over ten years. Even if I haven't achieved much, I've worked hard," Evelyn pleaded. "Give me another chance. I'll go talk to Mr. Howard myself."
"Forget it. Mr. Howard is disgusted by you. If your words were useful, they would have worked by now! You have three days to come up with the money, or the company will sue you! We lost the order because of your personal issues."
The call ended.
Evelyn was stunned. Her husband, who had overheard the call, was sitting nearby smoking. She walked over. "Honey..."
"I don't have a wife like you. Marrying you, I haven't had a single good day. Don't even think about using the house my parents bought to cover this. You better find a way to solve this, or we'll get divorced, and you'll never see our daughter again!"
Evelyn's husband shook off her hand and went upstairs with a cold face.
Evelyn wiped her tears and forced herself to stay calm. She thought maybe her gifts weren't enough.
So she used her credit card to buy a more expensive gift worth $100,000 for Sarah and went to the ward again.
But Sarah hadn't returned yet.
She waited for a few hours before seeing Sarah leisurely return to the ward.
"Ms. Martinez, this is a small token of my appreciation," Evelyn said, handing the gift to Sarah.
Sarah glanced at it but didn't take it. She also glanced at the two bags Evelyn had given her last time: "Take back the two purses you gave me last time. I didn't help you, so I can't accept these gifts."
"How could you not have helped me? Ms. Martinez, you spoke well of me to Mr. Howard, which is helping me."
Evelyn cried and asked, "Ms. Martinez, or tell me what you like, and I'll give it to you. Please help me. My husband is going to divorce me because of this! I can't repay so much money!"
Sarah sighed, "Sorry, I can't help. This is Raymond's decision. He's really angry this time. I talked to him, but he wouldn't listen. I sympathize with you, but I can't help."
Evelyn suddenly knelt in front of her, clutching Sarah's dress, crying, "Ms. Martinez, my boss just called me! Why did Mr. Howard suddenly terminate our collaboration with Horizon Enterprise? It shouldn't be. Mrs. Howard said Mr. Howard listens to you the most!"
"Ms. Martinez, please help! If you help me through this crisis, my life is yours! I'll do whatever you say! My daughter is only three years old. She'll be so pitiful if we divorce. She won't grow up in a complete family!"
Sarah sighed, bent down, and pulled Evelyn up. "Go close the door."
Evelyn thought she had agreed, quickly got up from the floor, and turned to close the door.
Sarah sat on the hospital bed and innocently said, "This situation is really strange. I don't know how it suddenly turned out like this. Raymond was almost about to agree with me."
"Ms. Martinez, can you be more specific?" Evelyn immediately caught the key point.
Sarah pursed her lips and slowly said, "I told him about your situation, and Raymond said that since you knew you were wrong, he wouldn't make things difficult for you and would continue collaborating with Horizon Enterprise."
"Then why is Mr. Howard making things difficult now?" Evelyn was confused.
Sarah gave a bitter smile. "That's the mystery. Just as I finished speaking, Raymond received a call from Mrs. Howard. I don't know what was said on the call. I only know that after Raymond took the call, he suddenly changed his mind. No matter what I said, he wouldn't continue the collaboration with you."
"But I came to you on Mrs. Howard's request. She has no reason to harm me. She doesn't seem like that kind of person," Evelyn frowned.
