Chapter 53 She Slapped Sarah
Sarah, tears streaming down her face, stared at Nancy, totally baffled. "Nancy, didn't you say you were my godmother and Marlon was my godfather? Now that he's had surgery, I brought some fruit and a flower basket to visit him. Am I wrong?"
Nancy, usually pretty chill, was fuming because Sarah had messed around with Raymond, wrecking Margaret's marriage.
Seeing Sarah's fake tears, Nancy slapped her. "Raymond's not here; cut the act. Grab your stuff and scram!"
Sarah clutched her cheek, crying. "Nancy, you weren't like this before. Did I mess up? If I did, just tell me. Raymond and I are innocent. I'm trying to get him to work things out with Margaret. Just give me some time, okay?"
Nancy tossed the flower basket and fruit to the ground.
A crowd started gathering, whispering, "She came to visit out of kindness and got kicked out. What's up with that?"
"Don't stress. If she won't let you visit, just take the fruit back and eat it yourself."
"Yeah, it's nice enough you came. No matter the beef, you shouldn't kick someone out like that."
Nancy, spoiled since she was a kid, couldn't handle the misunderstanding and snapped, "Do you even know what she's done? She seduced my daughter's husband, almost wrecking her marriage!"
Sarah cried harder, making Nancy even madder. "Nancy, I didn't."
Margaret, worried Nancy might get sick from anger, quickly pushed through the crowd, picking up the fruit and flower basket. "Ms. Martinez, thanks for coming to see my dad."
Nancy's face lit up when she saw Margaret. "Margaret, you're finally back."
"Margaret, I'm so glad you're back. When I saw on TV that something happened to you, I was worried sick." Sarah looked at Margaret with fake sincerity, trying to grab her hand.
Margaret dodged her. "My mom's old. If there's anything, talk to me, Ms. Martinez. I'll see you out."
Before leaving, Sarah bowed deeply to Nancy, crying softly. "Nancy, I'm leaving. I'll come see you again when I can."
The crowd went on whispering, "She really knows her manners."
"Yeah, very polite."
Nancy leaned against the door frame, almost fainting from anger.
Outside the hospital, Margaret secretly turned on the recording on her phone in her pocket.
To rile Sarah up, she chucked the flower basket and fruit into the trash.
Sarah crossed her arms, sneering. "Your mom's got such a bad temper, no wonder your dad fell down the stairs.
"Margaret, what does tossing that stuff prove? If you've got guts, ditch Raymond too. You're so pathetic, Raymond's ignored you for a year, and you still won't get a divorce. Planning to cling to the Mrs. Howard title till you die?"
Sarah rolled her eyes. "If I were you, I'd be too embarrassed to show my face. What's the point of living if you can't even keep your own family business together?"
Margaret shot back, "Weren't you the one who introduced me to Raymond? Are you slapping yourself in the face now? You must've liked him before I did, right? You handed him over to me, watched us date and get married. How'd that feel?"
Sarah, hit where it hurt, screamed, "Margaret, shut up!"
She had introduced Raymond to Margaret to take over the Hughes family business, and Raymond was just her pawn.
She wanted everything Margaret had, including Raymond.
To lure Margaret into her trap, she had trained Raymond in every way. Raymond was the bait Sarah had personally groomed to cater to Margaret's tastes.
But watching Raymond and Margaret together, She was deeply heartbroken.
She wanted to kill Margaret and take Raymond back.
Sarah said, "So what if you married him? He doesn't love you; he loves me. He always has. Do you know how good it felt when we hooked up yesterday? He drank the drug I gave him, and it was really strong. I spent a lot of money on it."
She continued, "He held me, and we did it from the bed to the floor, from the floor to the living room, dining room, and bathroom. We tried every position. He said he loves me like this, and your body doesn't turn him on at all!"
Margaret's face turned pale, her body trembling, fists clenched. "You admit you drugged him?"
Sarah replied, "Of course, I did. I own up to what I do. Margaret, if you have any sense, divorce him quickly. What's the point of holding onto a man who doesn't love you? You're the one standing in our way!"
Margaret trembled with anger, unable to tolerate Sarah's shamelessness any longer.
Sarah was the one who ruined her marriage, yet she had the nerve to point fingers at her.
Margaret slapped her hard, her strength fueled by a year's worth of grievances and anger, like a volcano erupting. "Sarah, you think I'm easy to bully? You've been causing me trouble all year, and I haven't retaliated. Do you think I'm easy to push around?"
Margaret's slap was so strong it knocked Sarah to the ground.
Sarah, holding her face, couldn't believe she had been hit. "Margaret, are you crazy?"
Margaret shouted, "It's because you drove me crazy! Sarah, you think wearing luxury brands and acting high and mighty means you can step all over me? Do you remember how you used to suck up to me, trying to be my friend humbly? I pitied you, befriended you, trusted you, and what did you do? You disgust me!"
Margaret grabbed Sarah by the collar, sneering, "Sending me hotel selfies? Cursing me over the phone? Taking wedding photos with Raymond to provoke me? You think that's fun?"
