Chapter 296 How to Give Up Completely

Raymond was so infuriated by her indifferent attitude that he laughed.

He looked at Margaret for a long time.

Raymond sneered coldly, "Marlon doesn't deserve my death as an apology. He and your mom were both scum; they deserved to die."

Margaret trembled with anger, "Raymond, your punishment will come soon! You won't be arrogant for long!"

Raymond turned around, picked up the suit jacket on the sofa, and put it on.

Then he took out his phone and sent a message to Alvin, asking him to come to the Hughes Manor to pick him up since he had been drinking and couldn't drive.

Now his back and hands were injured, and he needed to go to the hospital.

He also sent a message to Hubert, asking him to wait at the hospital.

After that, he put his phone back in his suit jacket pocket.

Before leaving, Raymond looked at Margaret, "I want to see how you plan to put me in jail."

With a mocking laugh, he turned and left the bedroom.

Margaret was driven mad by his sarcasm. Was he really that disdainful and arrogant?

She knew how powerful Raymond was, but she was determined to oppose him.

Margaret picked up her phone to see if Joseph had sent her a message.

She unlocked the screen and opened WhatsApp, but the chat history was still stuck on yesterday.

He hadn't replied to her.

What did it mean that Joseph hadn't replied? Did he not want to offend Raymond?

Margaret bit her lip and gripped her phone tightly.

But she still wanted to try, so she sent Joseph a message: [Joseph, this is Margaret. Have you thought about the case against Raymond?]

Joseph didn't reply.

Margaret thought he might be reluctant to refuse her directly, so she asked again: [If it's inconvenient for you to take this case, you can just say so. Please don't delay; I'm in a hurry.]

After sending the message, Margaret turned off her phone and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

Raymond had just come downstairs from Margaret's villa.

He stood in the cold moonlight for a few minutes, took out a cigarette from a pack, and lit it with a lighter just as Alvin arrived in the car.

Raymond got into the back seat, closed the door, and smoked with the window open.

Alvin glanced at Raymond through the rearview mirror and curiously asked, "Mr. Howard, are you and Mrs. Howard okay?"

Raymond's icy gaze fell on Alvin.

Alvin immediately realized he had misspoken and shut his mouth.

"Take me to Hubert," Raymond ordered.

"Yes, Mr. Howard."

At the hospital, Raymond took off his black shirt.

His broad, bronze back was exposed, covered in dried bloodstains.

Cleaning the wound, applying the medicine, and wrapping it in white gauze were done in one swift motion.

Hubert glanced at the small fragments he had picked out and asked with a smile, "Mr. Howard, who hurt you like this? Did you call the cop ?"

Raymond frowned at this and looked at Hubert with a complex expression, "Are you teaching me how to do things?"

"Of course not." Hubert quickly waved his hand.

Raymond glanced at Hubert and then at Alvin standing at the door, "Today's events are confidential."

Hubert guessed that Raymond's injuries might be related to Margaret since she was the only one who could hurt him like this without him holding a grudge.

"Yes, Mr. Howard." Hubert bowed respectfully.

Then Hubert explained the precautions and the dates for changing the dressing.

On the way back, Raymond seemed to think of something and instructed Alvin, "What was the name of the group I had dinner with today?"

"Horizon Enterprise," Alvin replied.

This company was particularly small, with only a few dozen employees.

But the case they offered was quite professional, and they were willing to let the Hughes Group take the lion's share of the profits.

Raymond, being a businessman who valued profit, was willing to cooperate with them. After working well together, they became regular partners.

But today, the client manager Evelyn had mistakenly thought Joseph and Margaret were lovers and had mocked Margaret. It was quite inappropriate.

"Terminate all cooperation with this company." Raymond snapped.

"If they ask, how should I explain it?" Alvin was quite surprised. Horizon Enterprise had always had a good relationship with the Hughes Group, so why had Raymond's attitude changed after a meal with Evelyn?

Raymond thought for a moment and sneered, "The person who had dinner with me knows why."

Back at the private villa, Raymond's phone suddenly rang.

He picked it up and saw it was a call from Joseph.

There were also a few missed calls.

But he had his phone on silent on the way back, so he hadn't noticed.

Raymond answered the call unhurriedly, his voice calm, "Hello."

"Raymond, are you still up? I hope I'm not disturbing you," Joseph said with a smile over the phone.

Raymond, expressionless, poured himself a glass of water, "You can speak directly."

"It's about what I mentioned at the restaurant entrance. Margaret wants to sue you and wants me to take the case," Joseph said again.

He had already told Raymond about this when Margaret went to get the car.

But Raymond hadn't given a clear response, leaving Joseph uncertain.

Margaret was pressing him for an answer.

So he had to bother Raymond again late at night.

Raymond held the phone to his ear, holding a glass in his other hand as he walked upstairs, "That's between you two. Handle it as you see fit."

"Raymond, I don't know how to respond to that."

"If you want to take it, take it. If you don't, then don't. She's your client; I have no reason to interfere in your business," Raymond sneered.

Joseph was silent on the phone for a while, trying to gauge Raymond's intentions.

Raymond was the type who didn't like to spell things out, preferring to let people guess his thoughts.

"Then I'll refuse her. Raymond, I'll advise Margaret not to go against you. You're my boss; I can't take your investment and then help Margaret sue you. If I did that, what kind of person would I be?" Joseph continued, "Without your support, I wouldn't have grown to this scale."

Raymond still didn't say anything.

"I'll try to persuade Margaret. Which law firm in Silverbrook would dare take her case and go against you? After facing enough rejections, she'll give up. I don't believe you would commit murder."

Raymond took a sip of water. He knew Joseph was flattering him.

But hearing someone say they believed in him still moved him.

As he was about to hang up, Raymond suddenly said, "You can take the case."
