Chapter 259 Marlon, Are You Out of Your Mind?

Marlon was trembling with rage, completely infuriated. He grabbed the coffee Margaret had ordered for him, which was on the table, and splashed it on Sarah's face.

Marlon's veins bulged as he opened his mouth and let out incoherent sounds.

The coffee was scalding hot, still steaming.

Sarah had meticulously done her makeup, planning to visit the Hughes Group to see Raymond. The steaming coffee splashed all over her face.

Sarah screamed in pain, "Marlon, are you out of your mind?"

Marlon's hand reached for Sarah's head, frantically yanking at her freshly styled long curls with all his might.

Though he wasn't very strong, pulling her hair made Sarah's scalp tingle, and she felt like she was going bald.

"You bastard, I'm going to fight you!" Sarah gritted her teeth, grabbing the two cups of hot coffee she had packed and smashing them onto Marlon's body and face.

Marlon's clothes and his wrinkled face were drenched in coffee, and the coffee seeped into his nostrils, eyes, and mouth.

A waiter heard the commotion and rushed over.

Sarah kicked over the wheelchair.

Marlon fell heavily and awkwardly to the ground from the wheelchair.

Still not satisfied, Sarah stomped on Marlon's hand with her high-heeled shoe, "Marlon, are you tired of living? How dare you splash coffee on me! I'll teach you a lesson!"

"Miss, please don't do this. Whatever the issue is, we can talk it out," The waiter tried to pull Sarah off Marlon's hand, but she couldn't pull her away.

Margaret, having just taken painkillers to suppress her severe pain, walked into the café and saw Sarah cursing at Marlon, stomping on his fingers crazily.

Margaret was both angry and shocked. She rushed over, pulled Sarah away, and slapped her across her disfigured face, "Sarah, have you lost your mind? Who allowed you to bully my dad? Bullying me wasn't enough; now you're going after my dad too?"

Knocked to the ground by Margaret's slap, Sarah was instantly stunned.

Margaret glared at the waiter, "What's wrong with you people? You see someone bullying an elderly person and don't stop it?"

"Miss, we tried to stop her, but this lady was too strong for us to pull away," The waiter explained softly, "How about this, we won't charge you for the coffee as an apology. We've also called the cop to help."

Margaret didn't intend to let it go, but Marlon, lying on the ground, made incoherent sounds. Margaret looked over, "Dad."

Marlon shook his head, indicating that the waiters were innocent and not to involve them.

Margaret had to let it go.

The police arrived quickly, and the waiters testified that Sarah had started the fight, which was too severe.

Sarah was taken back to the station and detained for seven days.

Margaret took Marlon to the hospital, where Hubert personally treated Marlon's facial burns and the injuries on his hand from the high heel.

His hand was red and swollen, with several layers of skin peeled off.

Hubert bandaged him up and gave some instructions.

Margaret then took a cab to bring Marlon back to the villa.

On the way, Margaret looked at Marlon's aged face. Marlon used to be a successful businessman, but now he had fallen so low to be bullied by Sarah.

As Margaret's nose tingled and tears welled up in her eyes while holding Marlon's aged hand, her tears fell on his hand.

Marlon looked up, making incoherent sounds, and raised his hand to wipe Margaret's tears, shaking his head, with his lips moving.

Margaret knew Marlon was telling her it was okay, not to cry.

Marlon then took Margaret's hand and wrote in her palm, stroke by stroke. "Keep it."

Seeing that, Margaret's tears suddenly flowed uncontrollably.

Marlon had suffered so much, been bullied so badly, yet he wanted her to keep it secret!

Was he afraid she would be bullied by Raymond? Was he afraid Nancy would worry?

Marlon had protected Margaret for over twenty years, never letting her suffer.

But she had been so foolish, falling for the wrong person, and marrying the wrong person, which disrupted her parents' once peaceful life.

Thinking of this, Margaret's throat suddenly felt so sore, so bitter.

Her heart was filled with grievance and helplessness, so tired.

Margaret's heart was full of apologies to her parents, but she knew Marlon didn't want to hear those words, which would make him feel even worse.

Marlon thought Margaret didn't understand him, so he anxiously gestured in her palm again.

He knew everything now, thinking it was all his fault

If it weren't for that rainy night ten years ago, when his car hit someone. Margaret wouldn't have gone through all this.

Marlon made incoherent sounds, his cloudy eyes constantly moving.

"I understand. I promise you, to keep it secret. This is our secret. I won't go to Raymond. Don't worry, I won't tell Mom either." Margaret held back her bitterness, tears falling continuously.

Marlon wiped her tears, forcing a smile, his expression more complex.

Back at the villa, Nancy saw Marlon and Margaret's red eyes and frowned, "What happened to you two?"

Margaret said, "Nothing."

Nancy then saw the bandages on Marlon's hand and the injuries on his face, shocked, she rushed over, "What happened?"

"Dad, he..." Margaret was about to speak when she saw Marlon in the wheelchair giving her a look.

Margaret swallowed her words heavily and changed her explanation to Nancy, "I was careless. I went to the restroom, and when I came back, Dad's wheelchair had tipped over, and he got hurt like this."

"Margaret, you usually seem so careful. How could you be so negligent today? Your dad got hurt like this, and you didn't even watch him." Nancy complained while touching Marlon's wounds.

Margaret lowered her head, holding back her tears.

Marlon made incoherent sounds to Nancy, shaking his head.

"You just spoil her. No matter what she does wrong, you never blame her," Nancy said, wiping her tears.

Margaret said, "Mom, tomorrow is New Year's Eve. Let's not talk about these unhappy things."

Marlon nodded in agreement, smiling.

Nancy went to check if the chef had finished cooking. Marlon asked Margaret to get him a pen, and he wrote a line on a piece of paper.

He then showed it to Margaret, whose eyelid twitched.

She didn't expect Marlon to write such a request!

"Dad, let's not invite him," Margaret instinctively refused.

Raymond and Marlon were enemies. How could they spend New Year's Eve together?

Why would Marlon suddenly want Raymond to come over for New Year's Eve? Margaret couldn't understand.
