Chapter 187 She Will Kill Him
Sarah wanted to say no. Hubert was over ten years older than her, old and ugly, and just looking at him made her feel sick. Every time she went to his place, she had to push through the disgust to sleep with him; it was her worst nightmare.
She got tangled up with Hubert because Ashley botched the hit on Margaret and ended up in the hospital. Scared of getting caught, she turned to Hubert for help, and he indeed helped her.
She thought she could pay him off to get rid of him, but he turned it into blackmail, making her do whatever he wanted.
"Raymond's planning something against Margaret. If you want the details, dress up nice tonight and come see me," Hubert said in a suggestive tone. Before Sarah could say no, he hung up.
Sarah angrily knocked over all the makeup on her vanity. How outrageous! Hubert always threatened her to be with him.
But Sarah quickly calmed down. She needed Hubert to get rid of Margaret. Once she became Mrs. Howard, she'd kill Hubert without a second thought!
She knew what he liked and wore almost see-through lingerie underneath. With sunglasses and a red dress that showed off her long legs, she went to Hubert's place.
She asked Hubert for the details, but he wouldn't spill until they had sex. Sarah gritted her teeth and had to agree. They did it over and over. Only then did Hubert tell her Raymond's plans.
She was shocked and said, "Raymond really stopped Marlon's medication?"
"That's right. And Mr. Howard said no one can give Marlon any meds without his consent. Raymond found out Margaret lost the baby and was furious," Hubert said, glancing at Sarah. "You were the one who made Margaret lose the baby, weren't you?"
Sarah's eyelids twitched, and she quickly denied it, "How could that be?"
"Why not? The baby was fine when Raymond and Margaret went on vacation. How could it be gone when they got back? Based on the prenatal checkup I did for her, the miscarriage happened right when you made your move!" Hubert squinted, touching her chin. "You really are a bad woman."
Sarah slapped his hand away and said with a sinister smile, "If you know I'm bad, stay away from me."
"No matter how bad you are, can you be worse than me? We're the same, you know? I like you and treat you like a treasure." Hubert suddenly pulled her into his arms, trying to kiss her. "Being able to have sex with you is worth dying for."
Sarah couldn't help but avoid him, suppressing her inner disgust. She said with a flattering smile, "Does your wife know how unfaithful you are? Hubert, our relationship is temporary. Don't act like it's true love. If you really loved me, you wouldn't make me your side chick."
"So you wanna be my wife?" Hubert sneered. "If you were more passionate with me, maybe I'd divorce for you."
Hearing this, Sarah resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Sarah thought to herself, 'Who cares if he gets a divorce?' She only ever wanted Raymond!
"I know you want to be Mrs. Howard. I like you, so I'll help you. But if you dare to kick me aside..." Hubert pinched Sarah's chin, pausing for a moment.
Sarah retorted, "You think you can kill me?"
"Sarah, I'm not a good person either. If I can help you scheme against Raymond, I can also harm you. Although I can't bear to kill you, ruining you would be easy," Hubert said, kissing her neck.
She tried to avoid it. But Hubert forcefully kissed her. "Don't think you can escape. Once you're involved with me, you can't get away. Even if you become Raymond's wife, you can't shake me off. Whether in life or death, you're stuck with me."
Hearing these so-called affectionate words, Sarah felt so nauseous she wanted to puke. Hubert was just a madman. They had only made one deal, and now she was stuck with him like this.
She didn't want to be controlled by Hubert her whole life, and she sure wasn't gonna let him treat her like crap forever. She had to quickly find a way to make Margaret disappear. Only if Margaret disappeared could she be with Raymond.
Once she became Mrs. Howard, she would be a good wife to Raymond, care for him, and look after him. All these filthy things would be hidden away, never to be discovered again.
After leaving Hubert's villa, Sarah drove to a bar to drink. She saw a familiar figure in the bar.
It was Raymond. He was wearing a black suit, drinking with a blank expression. There were already several empty bottles in front of him. It was clear he really cared about the baby Margaret lost.
She thought about how she had been by his side for so many years, and he had never cared much about her. But Margaret, the daughter of his enemy Marlon, could still stir his emotions.
Jealousy and resentment made Sarah grit her teeth. She walked over to Raymond, asked the waiter for a bottle of wine, poured it into a glass, and clinked glasses with him. "Don't drink alone. I'll drink with you."
Raymond looked up and saw Sarah, wearing a red dress and without her sunglasses. His face flushed slightly, and he was about to refuse.
Before he could speak, she said with a bitter smile, "You don't even want to marry me, and now I can't even have a drink with you?"
Raymond's gaze fell on the scabbed scars on her face, left by Margaret. The scars covered Sarah's entire cheek, and even makeup couldn't hide them.
"Does your wound still hurt?" Raymond thought of Sarah's kindness in supporting him and her understanding of his reluctance to marry her. He felt full of guilt.
Sarah touched the wound on her face. "It would be a lie to say it doesn't hurt. I get used to the pain after a while. Do I look ugly now?"
"No, you've always been beautiful."
"No matter how beautiful I am, you've never really looked at me, have you? People are different. Margaret doesn't have to do anything to get your affection," Sarah said bitterly. "But now I've figured it out. I won't compete with Margaret for you anymore. I just don't know if I'll ever get married looking like this."
Raymond said guiltily, "I'll get the best plastic surgery team to help you recover."
"Raymond, do you have something on your mind? Why are you drinking alone in the middle of the night? Didn't Margaret ask you to go home?" Sarah asked with concern.
Outside the bar window.
Margaret and Daniel walked by, and Margaret immediately saw Raymond and Sarah sitting at the same long table. Sarah was looking at him with a dignified and generous smile, her eyes full of admiration.
Women understood women, and Margaret could tell at a glance that Sarah's gaze at Raymond was not innocent.
Margaret blinked her dry eyes, staring for a long time, her feet seemingly rooted to the spot, unable to move. He had just shown how much he cared about that baby, and now he was drinking with Sarah? What would they do after drinking?
Margaret felt a pang in her heart, her breathing quickened. She thought to herself, 'Raymond, are you so eager to be with Sarah?'
