Chapter 162 I'm Just a Burden, Aren't I?

Raymond felt even more down. He didn't say a word and just walked into the room.

Sarah had her back to him, wearing a hospital gown, looking frail and sad.

He moved around to face her, his face blank, and saw the tear stains on her bandages right away.

Then he looked at her wrist, wrapped tightly in bandages with spots of red showing through. It was shocking.

"You promised to work with the doctors and take your meds. Why are you acting up again?" Raymond frowned, pulled up a chair, and sat in front of her.

Sarah looked at him with a pitiful expression. "I'm just a burden, aren't I?"

"No," he said firmly. "I'll find the person who hurt you and fix your face."

Sarah gave a mocking smile, "And then what?"

"I'll make them pay."

"No, you won't. You'll protect her." Sarah shook her head, murmuring, "Raymond, you keep asking me who hurt me. But I'm scared to tell you. I'm scared that if I do, you'll be in a tough spot. And I don't want to make things hard for you, which is why I cut my wrists. I feel like I'm just a burden. I used to live on your promises, but now you don't love me anymore. You never loved me."

Raymond didn't say anything because he couldn't deny it.

Sarah gave a bitter smile, "You broke your promise. You don't want to marry me anymore. My face is ruined, my life is over. No one will ever want me."

"Raymond, if you were me, what would you do? I have no choice. I can't tell my family about what happened. I'm forced to accept my fate. Facing the person who hurt me, I can't do anything."

"You don't understand how much I struggle, how conflicted I am. I don't want to make things hard for you, but I can't forgive! I have no other way out but death."

Raymond began to understand who she was accusing.

But he didn't want to face that reality!

Margaret couldn't be that kind of person.

Margaret would never have stooped to such low tactics.

But he didn't have the guts to question Sarah. He was terrified of the truth, afraid of what he might find when the last veil was lifted.

Raymond silently listened to her complaints, her grievances, and her cries.

Then he pulled out a tissue from the table and helped her wipe her tears.

Sarah's mood got a bit better.

Raymond's indifferent gaze swept over her. "Is there anything you want to eat? I'll go get it for you."

"I want to eat the porridge you make. Can I?" Sarah looked at him pitifully.

He originally wanted to refuse, but thinking of her kindness, a weight on his conscience, forced him to relent.

As soon as Raymond left, Hubert came into the room with a blood pressure monitor and then locked the door.

He walked up to Sarah, lifted her chin, and kissed her lips.

She tried to avoid him. But Hubert wouldn't let her, saying, "You wouldn't have been able to fake your suicide without my help. You don't even let me kiss you?"

"I didn't mean that." Sarah was repulsed by his touch, but he was the sharpest knife in her hand, so she had to comply.

She had to obediently let him kiss her.

But Hubert wasn't satisfied with just a taste. His big hand slid up her hospital gown, squeezing hard.

A wave of humiliation washed over Sarah. She pressed down on his hand to stop him. "This is a hospital. Be careful, someone might see."

"No one will suspect, baby. I'm just taking your blood pressure. Your body is so hot, you need to cool down." Hubert gave a sleazy smile and went to kiss her bandaged face.

She turned her head to avoid him.

"Sarah, know your place. If you want to fake depression and become Mrs. Howard, you have to listen to me. Otherwise, I'll go to Raymond, and we can all be exposed! You killed Margaret, and now you're just one step away from becoming Mrs. Howard. Do you want us all to die, or do you want wealth and glory? Make your choice.."

"Hubert, I didn't mean that. You're the one I care about most. If you want to make love to me, I'll agree. But don't say things like that again." Sarah cooed, taking the initiative to unbuckle his belt.

This time, Sarah took the lead.

Looking at the photos of them together before, Sarah felt both anger and disgust.

This Hubert had now become her biggest threat!

And he was way too smart; he had already figured out that she was the one who harmed Margaret.

Once she was done using him and had become Mrs. Howard, she would have to create an accident to get rid of him since he knew too many of her secrets.

Sarah believed that no woman could match her cunning. To get rid of Margaret, she didn't hesitate to ruin her own face. Who would suspect her?

She had many ways to make someone disappear.

For example, Marlon falling down the stairs and ending up in a coma.

Or Marlon suddenly getting into a car accident, with the driver fleeing the scene—those were all her doing!

But to this day, no one had found out!

Of course, the secrets she carried were far more than these, but she planned to let those secrets remain secrets forever!

After dealing with Hubert, she went to the bathroom, turned on the hot water, and frantically washed every part of her body except her face.

A feeling of nausea welled up inside her.

The more Hubert controlled her now, the more she'd retaliate.

Sarah kept all these accounts in her mind, and she would settle them one by one.

Thinking of this, Sarah's eyes showed intense malice and disdain.

It was ironic. She wanted to have sex with Raymond but could never get her wish, yet she was forced to sleep with Hubert.

And he had leverage over her, so she couldn't refuse him!

Not long after she finished her bath, Raymond came back with the porridge he had made.

He opened the thermos and handed it to her. There was a spoon inside. "Eat it while it's hot."

"Can you feed me?" Sarah bit her lip, looking at him weakly.

He frowned.

"My hands are just too weak." Sarah's eyes filled with tears.

Raymond said with a blank expression, "I'll get a nurse to feed you."

He was married; how could he be so intimate with another woman?

If Margaret found out, she would definitely throw a fit.

Margaret couldn't accept it.

Sarah was shocked that he remained so cold and heartless, even in her vulnerable state. She blurted out in anger, "Do you despise me that much? You used to feed me before. Are we drawing such clear lines now?"

Raymond turned to leave and find a nurse.

"Don't you want to know who did this to me? Fine, I'll tell you now! Raymond, listen carefully!" Sarah sneered again.
