Chapter 153 Will We Be Together Forever?

Margaret begged him to let her go, but he just ignored her.

She sighed, frowning as she pried his fingers off her wrist one by one.

"I'm talking to you! Did you hear me?"

"Stop with the nonsense, I'm exhausted," Margaret snapped, then stormed out of the master bedroom.

Raymond's voice trailed after her, "I'll crash on the couch! You don't have to leave!"

Margaret froze in her tracks.

"Margaret, the only reason I'm putting up with this is because of the baby!" Raymond sneered.

Raymond thought, 'Don't want to hear my side? Fine, I don't feel like explaining anyway!'

He turned and left the master bedroom, slamming the door behind him.

Margaret felt a heavy weight on her chest, making it hard to breathe. After washing up, she crawled back into bed.

Her phone buzzed with a new message.

A text from an unknown number: [If you want to know about the mute kid, come to this place at 8 AM tomorrow.]

An unfamiliar address followed.

Margaret's heart skipped a beat. News about the mute kid?

She quickly dialed the anonymous number.

But it went straight to voicemail!

Who could know about the mute kid?

She copied the number into WhatsApp, but it wasn't registered.

Could it be Daniel?

To check, Margaret sent Daniel a WhatsApp message.

Margaret: [Mr. Taylor, have you found out anything about the mute kid?]

Meanwhile, on the couch in the living room.

Raymond couldn't sleep, chain-smoking.

The cigarettes tasted especially bitter tonight.

He just wanted to take her out to relax, to make her feel better.

But things only got worse.

Raymond picked up his phone and removed Margaret from his WhatsApp blacklist.

Last time she went to the hospital for an abortion, he tried to video call her, but she didn't answer. In a fit of anger, he blacklisted her.

If it were before, she would've asked him to remove her from the blacklist long ago.

But now, she seemed content to let things be.

Margaret's cold words set Raymond's temper ablaze. He wanted to storm off and go back to work.

But he thought about how long it had been since they last went on a trip.

Ever since he joined the Hughes Group at her request, he had been busy with work, busy gaining Marlon's approval!

Between strengthening himself and plotting revenge, he'd hardly had a moment for Margaret.

In the beginning, she would act spoiled, asking him to put down his work and spend even just a day with her.

He would brush her off, and she would believe him.

Back then, he was confident. He thought he and Margaret had plenty of time and didn't need to rush!

But now, he increasingly found Margaret becoming uncontrollable!

The Margaret who loved him deeply had become more and more unfamiliar.

Raymond's temper softened again. After all, he liked her.

And she was still carrying his child.

He had already given up so much, what was a little more tolerance for her temper?

Raymond smoked and picked up his phone, editing a message to send to Margaret.

In the master bedroom.

Margaret couldn't sleep either, but it wasn't because of Raymond; it was because Daniel hadn't replied to her message.

She didn't know if the anonymous number that had just messaged her was Daniel.

A message popped up.

Daniel: [Not yet. Mrs. Hughes, I've been a bit busy with work lately, sorry.]

So it wasn't him!

Margaret felt a pang of disappointment and quickly replied.

Margaret: [It's okay, Mr. Taylor. Your work comes first. I'm not in a hurry.]

Daniel: [I'll let you know as soon as I have any news.]

Margaret: [Okay. Thank you, Mr. Taylor.]

Daniel: [Mrs. Hughes, you're too kind.]

Looks like she would have to go tomorrow!

If Margaret had known what would happen the next day, she would never have gone to that meeting!

But life didn't come with foresight, only an irresistible fate.

A message popped up.

She opened it and saw it was from Raymond on WhatsApp.

Thinking she had seen wrong, she remembered Raymond had blacklisted her.

Rubbing her eyes, she saw the chat box indicating the other party was typing!

She hadn't seen wrong.

Raymond: [My relationship with Sarah's nothing like you'd imagine. My tone was bad earlier, I apologize. Get some rest, tomorrow I'll take you to the places we visited three years ago. You haven't been sleeping well, try not to overthink. Pregnancy can make you overthink everything, it's completely natural.]

For the first time since he'd proposed divorce and left her in the dust, Raymond softened and tried to comfort her.

When they first started dating, he could always sense her little moods and take care of her.

But Margaret felt no waves in her heart, looking at the message indifferently and coldly.

If it were before, she would have been ecstatic, scrutinizing every detail to see if it meant he still liked her!

But not now, because she knew he was doing all this for the baby she was carrying.

It was to torment her.

Margaret couldn't find words to reply to him. She didn't have the energy to argue.

She wasn't looking forward to revisiting old places at all.

She wouldn't go.

Tomorrow she had to meet the anonymous message sender!

All night.

She still couldn't sleep.

But she could now slowly accept it, no longer feeling the urgent pain.

She was like a fish on the verge of death, lying on the shore, quietly waiting for her fate.

The angle of this suite was great; from the bay window, she could see the stars in the night sky.

Tonight's stars were especially bright, like tiny diamonds, embedded in every corner of the sky!

When she was young, Marlon was very busy with work, and she was often bored alone, so she liked to lean on the railing at home and watch the stars, talking to the stars.

She didn't have much time to watch the stars anymore, so she cherished it.

They say that when people die, they become stars in the sky. Would she be like that too?

At dawn, Margaret started washing up, getting ready, and changing clothes.

Then she put on a black backpack, which contained a few bottles of painkillers and a thermos.

Opening the door to the master bedroom, she saw Raymond asleep on the couch.

He was wearing a gray shirt, with three buttons undone, revealing his sexy collarbone and skin.

His eyes were closed, and his brows were tightly furrowed. He must be having a nightmare.

But she didn't care anymore.

Margaret quietly closed the door and left.

As she left the hotel, she took out her phone to navigate.

The address from the anonymous message was two hours away!

She booked a car through a ride-hailing app.

As the taxi drove to a more remote location, the road became narrower.

The driver couldn't help but complain, "Ma'am, where are you going? This place is too remote, it's dangerous for you to go alone. How about we turn back?"
