Chapter 352: In Such a Hurry to Find Your Daniel?

Raymond's eyes were dark and brooding. Did she really want a divorce that badly?

Every minute, every second, she couldn't wait any longer.

Heartache, anger, despair, helplessness—these emotions swirled and tangled in Raymond's heart. After years of marriage, did she not feel even a shred of reluctance?

Margaret snapped back, "Why do you have to make such a big deal out of a divorce? Seriously, I'm speechless."

"Are you in such a hurry to run to your Daniel?"

"Think whatever you want. I just want you to hurry up and stop dragging this out." Margaret was taken aback, not understanding what he was implying.

What did their divorce have to do with Daniel?

She was used to Raymond's accusations by now and didn't bother to argue.

In the past, if someone she cared about misunderstood her like this, she would have explained immediately.

But now, there was no need. If the misunderstanding could make him let go and sever their ties completely, she was all for it.

She just felt a bit sorry for Daniel.

The tension in the air was palpable.

Margaret had her ID photo developed by the photographer, paid for it, and then left the studio.

Raymond was left standing there.

The photographer, feeling awkward, asked, "Sir, do you need to retake the photo?"

"No need. I'll take the one you just shot."

Margaret had just returned to the Municipal Office lobby and saw Alvin sitting at a long table waiting for them. When he saw her, he quickly stood up. "Mrs. Howard, you're here."

"Don't call me that. Raymond and I will soon have nothing to do with each other," Margaret said coldly, pulling out a chair and sitting down.

Alvin glanced at the door, not seeing Raymond, and asked Margaret, who was filling out forms, "Where's Mr. Howard? Didn't you come back together?"

"I don't know." Margaret gripped the pen, carefully filling out the necessary information.

Seeing Margaret and Raymond come to this point made Alvin feel quite sad.

He pursed his lips and couldn't help but speak up for Raymond. "Mrs. Howard, you two can still talk things out. There's no need to go this far."

"Mr. Howard still cares about you. He was even willing to donate..." Alvin wanted to tell her that Raymond had matched as a donor and was willing to give her half of his liver.

Margaret, however, found him annoying and frowned. "Alvin, I know you're trying to help us. You're his man, so it's your job to speak for Raymond. But I want to say, no one gets married to get divorced. If we can't make it work, parting ways amicably is the best outcome."

"Daniel isn't as perfect as you think. Being with him might not be better than being with Mr. Howard." Alvin was convinced that Margaret was conspiring with Daniel.

Margaret found it amusing. "My divorce has nothing to do with anyone else."

Even though she said that, she knew Alvin wouldn't believe her.

At that moment, a cold laugh echoed. "Margaret, do you believe what you're saying? Whether your divorce has anything to do with Daniel, only you know."

Margaret looked up to see Raymond approaching.

He pulled out a chair and sat across from her.

Margaret scoffed, too lazy to explain, and glanced at the forms beside him. "Mr. Howard, fill out the forms. Stop dawdling, or we'll be here past closing time."

"I see you're more excited about this divorce than you were about our wedding," Raymond said, his face even darker.

Margaret's grip on the pen tightened, and her eyelashes fluttered.

Was she happy? Was she excited?

Their marriage ending in failure couldn't leave her unaffected.

Maybe in Raymond's eyes, not crying or making a scene meant she wasn't sad.

She was a very traditional person at heart. If possible, she wanted to marry only once and love only one man for life.

Unless absolutely necessary, she wouldn't and didn't want to divorce.

In this marriage, she was a complete failure.

Maybe this was the consequence of forcing things from the start.

Margaret's heart was a mess, but she smiled faintly. "If you say so. Sign the papers, Raymond."

Seeing her still able to smile made Raymond even more agitated.

He had thought that if he wanted a divorce, she would cry, make a scene, and desperately try to keep him.

She would be more obedient.

But in the end, she was the one who brought up the divorce.

And she seemed to have seen through everything.

In that moment, Raymond felt a sting in his nose.

He suddenly felt very pathetic.

His wife had another man in her heart.

He was so desperate that he wanted to use a child to keep her.

In the end, the child wasn't born, his wife got a terminal illness, and their marriage ended in failure.

So be it.

She was so heartless and cruel to him, he couldn't do it.

He couldn't just watch Margaret die in front of him.

As long as she was willing to get treatment, it didn't matter if they were together or not.

Raymond wasn't one to break his word. He had promised her a divorce, and he would follow through.

Fate had decided.

He had come to terms with reality. There was no other path for him and Margaret.

Raymond lowered his eyes, took a ballpoint pen from the holder, and began filling out the forms.

His fingers trembled slightly.

As he filled out the forms, the pen felt like a sharp knife, stabbing his heart over and over.

His heart was left in shreds.

He wrote very slowly.

He did it on purpose.

Margaret didn't rush him. She just sat quietly, waiting for him to finish.

Sitting across from him, Margaret's gaze involuntarily fell on his tall figure.

A black coat, a black shirt, and a plain tie with no patterns.

Just like him, somber and inscrutable.

He was very focused while filling out the forms.

She used to love watching him work because he was so absorbed and attractive.

She could never get enough of it.

How ironic that the last time she watched him work so seriously was for their divorce.

The snow outside was falling even harder.

Margaret shifted her gaze, no longer looking at him.

They had decided to divorce, so there was no need to look anymore.

Her phone suddenly rang.

Margaret took out her phone and saw the caller ID.

Her eyelid twitched.

Margaret thought she was seeing things. She blinked her dry eyes and saw Sarah's name on the screen.

Why was Sarah calling her out of the blue?

The phone kept ringing.

Margaret didn't answer.

Raymond and Alvin both looked over.

"Mrs. Howard, your phone is ringing. Why aren't you answering?" Alvin asked.

Margaret snapped out of her thoughts, hung up the call, and turned off her phone. "It's a scam call. Ignore it."

"Mr. Howard, haven't you finished the forms yet?" Margaret redirected the conversation to Raymond.

Raymond replied coldly, "I'm done."

Margaret raised an eyebrow. They took their completed forms to the divorce window to process the paperwork.

The clerk, looking at the forms, tapped away on the computer.

Then, just before stamping the divorce certificate, the clerk asked, "Are you both sure you want to go through with this? Once I stamp this, your marriage will be officially over."
