Chapter 306 Why Are You Blushing?

"What good news?" Margaret was taken aback. In her current state, could there still be good news for her?

"I'll tell you after you're bandaged up," Daniel said with a mysterious smile.

In the hospital corridor, a nurse was using a cotton swab to stop the bleeding on Margaret, who had multiple abrasions on her arm and forehead.

Margaret winced in pain.

Someone called the nurse, and she responded, then looked at Daniel standing nearby. "I need to step away for a moment. Can you help your girlfriend hold the cotton swab to stop the bleeding? I'll apply the medicine when I get back."

The nurse's words made both Daniel and Margaret freeze.

Margaret couldn't help but explain, "No, he..."

Before she could finish, the nurse interrupted, "I know you two are a couple. You look great together."

Daniel's cheeks flushed slightly. The nurse urged him again, and he walked over, about to take the cotton swab from the nurse's hand.

Margaret said, "No need, I can do it."

"You need someone to help with this spot," The nurse said.

Indeed, the injury was on her shoulder, a blind spot for her.

She really couldn't manage it herself.

Daniel pressed the cotton swab, and the nurse teased him, "Why are you blushing?"

"No, it's just too hot in here," Daniel said, pursing his lips.

The nurse was called again and left with a smile to the doctor's office.

Daniel half-squatted, carefully holding the cotton swab. He saw it was soaked with blood. "If it hurts, let me know, and I'll be gentler."

Margaret felt quite awkward too. She shook her head.

Hubert walked by the hallway and saw the scene between the two.

He quickly took out his phone and snapped a photo of Daniel looking at Margaret with deep affection. He then sent it to Raymond's phone: [Mr. Howard, you should pay more attention to Mrs. Howard. Daniel is getting too close to her.]

After sending the message, Hubert returned to his office.

When the nurse came back, she applied medicine to Margaret's forehead and arm wounds, reminding her to be careful not to get the wounds wet while bathing for the next few days.

Come back to the hospital in a few days to change the dressing.

"Are you two married?" The nurse asked out of curiosity, mainly because she thought they looked great together.

Margaret was extremely embarrassed, blushing, and tucked her hair behind her ear.

Daniel explained to her, "We're just friends."

"Oh, I see. Sorry, I misunderstood," The nurse realized her mistake.

Daniel drove Margaret home.

Margaret didn't say a word the whole way, just looked down at the ointment the nurse had given her.

Daniel glanced at her and spoke first, "Ms. Hughes, you lost the case today..."

"How do you know?" Margaret looked up at him.

Her gaze fell on Daniel's fingers gripping the steering wheel, the sunlight outside casting a glow on his long fingers.

Daniel hadn't spoken yet.

"Well, with so many media outlets today, it's not surprising you know."

"If you don't want to give up, I can help you find a lawyer to sue again," Daniel said.

Margaret suddenly felt very tired, smiled bitterly, and shook her head. "No need. I wrongly blamed Raymond. My father's death had nothing to do with him."

"I also think, given his current status, he wouldn't be that foolish," Daniel pondered.

Marlon's death still had doubts.

If it wasn't Raymond, then why did Marlon die?

Marlon loved her and Nancy the most. He had just woken up; why would he choose to die?

It meant Marlon must have sensed something, which led him to frame Raymond for his death.

Margaret felt utterly exhausted and sighed.

Even though the temperature in the car was just right, she felt cold and numb.

"Mr. Taylor, what was the good news you wanted to tell me?" Margaret didn't want to talk about the lost case or Raymond anymore; these topics were too heavy.

Daniel looked at the road ahead and said seriously, "Didn't I tell you before that I formed a medical team to develop anti-cancer drugs?"

"We've developed a new drug. As long as you're alive, you can try it."

Margaret said indifferently, "But my doctor told me I can't have surgery anymore."

"Margaret, if you're willing, I can handle these things. Mr. Garcia, who discussed a collaboration with me last time, is a good friend of my father's. Mr. Garcia's grandfather is a famous doctor. He has performed similar surgeries on patients in worse conditions than yours, and he saved them. The surgery was very successful, and the patient has lived for ten years."

This should be good news.

But Margaret didn't know why she couldn't feel happy about it.

If her parents were still alive, she would definitely want to live.

But now, even if she were cured, she would be alone, facing Raymond every day, torturing each other.

Margaret didn't want to live like that anymore.

"I can talk to Mr. Garcia for you," Daniel said again. "You don't have to worry."

Margaret was about to refuse.

"Margaret, promise me you'll think about it carefully. Don't rush to a decision. Mrs. Hughes entrusted you to me, and I can't just watch you die. We're just friends; you don't have to feel any burden, and I don't need anything in return. Even if it were someone else, I would help if I could."

Daniel spoke first, "If you observe carefully, life is still beautiful. Don't you want to try again? Spring flowers, summer rain, autumn wind, winter snow—they're all beautiful."

Seeing him so serious, Margaret couldn't bring herself to refuse.

"Okay, I'll think about it," Margaret murmured.

The car stopped at the Hughes Manor.

Margaret unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to get out.

The car doors were locked in advance.

She turned to Daniel in confusion, "Mr. Taylor, is there something else?"

"Margaret, do you remember when we first met?" Daniel suddenly asked with a smile in his eyes.

Margaret thought for a moment and replied, "About twenty days ago, I was kneeling outside the Hughes Group. It was snowing heavily, and I was surrounded by reporters. You were on duty and saved me, even bought me some ointment for bruises."

Margaret remembered it clearly; it was their first meeting, a very ordinary day.

She saw the smile on Daniel's face stiffen slightly, a hint of disappointment in his eyes.

"Did I remember it wrong?" Margaret frowned and blurted out.
