Chapter 612 Take Off Your Clothes, Let Me See

Remy looked at Lyric, who seemed hesitant to speak, and asked, "You don't have to hide anything from me. I'm on your side. If he comes looking for you, it means he can't let you go. If he doesn't, you might need to reconsider."

"No," Lyric sighed.

Seeing her daughter so troubled, Remy patted her hand and comforted her, "Don't worry, just wait a bit longer. Miracles can happen."

"Thanks, Mom."

"Silly girl, you're my only daughter. Of course, I have to help you. I just have one request: make sure Daniel is serious about you this time. Marriage isn't a game; it needs to be taken seriously. If you get married and then want to separate, the cost will be much higher. I don't want you to get hurt again."

A week passed.

Remy asked her again, and Lyric, looking even more distressed, said nothing. Remy didn't need to ask any more questions; she understood that Daniel had given up.

Remy placed a few photos in Lyric's hand. "These are some potential matches your father picked out for you. In terms of family background and looks, they're just as good as your Daniel. Take a look and choose one. Go on a date and forget about all these unhappy things."

"Mom—" Lyric hesitated, biting her lip.

Remy continued, "If a man truly cares about you, he will overcome countless obstacles to be with you. It's been over twenty days, and he hasn't come to see you. He might have been called back by his father. Don't be foolish, holding a grudge against your family for a man who isn't worth it. Is it really worth it?"

"But—"

"I know, you're going to say you don't like the people your father and I pick for you. But Daniel was also chosen by your parents. Lyric, give yourself a chance, give others a chance. Maybe someone else can heal you and save you."

Patting her shoulder, Remy turned and left the room, locking the door behind her.

Lyric looked down at the photos in her hand. The boys in the pictures were all handsome, each with their own charm, but she just didn't like any of them.

She suddenly remembered Daniel kissing her in the car, calling her his wife, putting shoes on her feet, holding her in his arms.

These memories were deeply etched in her mind, impossible to forget.

Lyric thought, 'Damn it, Daniel, you came into my life and messed everything up. You made me forgive you, and then you ran away, didn't you? You left, and I became a joke, locked in my room by my parents for twenty days.'

The more she thought about it, the more upset she became.

Daniel was still the same Daniel, always making her sad. She shouldn't have helped him with his injuries, shouldn't have softened her heart.

He should have frozen to death in that blizzard, let the pain kill him.

Lyric's mood hit rock bottom.

He was just playing around, taking advantage of being her family's savior, and then leaving without a trace. Only she took it too seriously.

She even dreamed of becoming his wife.

She muttered to herself, "Damn you, Daniel, you heartless man!"

Lyric was so angry she couldn't even eat dinner.

Night fell.

The blizzard had stopped, and it was a clear, starry night.

She sat in her chair, staring out the open window.

From her spot, she was hidden from the security cameras.

Suddenly, a sharp noise snapped her out of her thoughts.

She turned to see Daniel, dressed in work clothes, climbing through the window and standing in front of her. "Lyric, long time no see."

She blinked, feeling dazed. Was she dreaming?

Was she really not hallucinating?

Daniel closed the window tightly and drew the curtains, then pulled the stunned Lyric into his arms. "You're not dreaming. I'm here. I came to see you. I couldn't wait at the hotel any longer, so I came to see my princess."

Lyric reached out to touch his handsome face. His skin was warm.

He was real.

Her nose tingled, and she didn't know why, but she hadn't cried when he was missing. She had been so sad, but no tears had fallen.

But now that he was here, she couldn't hold back.

She cried tears of joy, laughing through her tears, which fell from her red eyes.

Thinking about the past twenty days, she had been so afraid he had given up on her again.

She clenched her fists and hit his chest. "Daniel, I hate you. I hate you."

'Do you know how long I waited for you, how much I worried about you? Every day, every minute, was torture. Why didn't you come sooner?' she thought.

"I don't want you anymore. My family has already chosen someone else for me. I don't want you anymore," Lyric said, pushing him toward the window.

He held her tightly, pressing her against the wall, looking at her with concern. "I'm not leaving. If I leave, Lyric will be sad. I'm sorry it took so long to come see you. I know you've missed me, and I've missed you too."

"Who missed you? Stop talking nonsense," she cried even harder.

Daniel bent down, kissing the tears on her face. Seeing her cry, he couldn't help but tear up too. His throat tightened. "I'm sorry. It's my fault. I should have come sooner. I had an accident at the hotel, my wound got infected, and I couldn't get out of bed. I was discharged today. Lyric, believe me, unless I'm dead, even if I have only one breath left, I'll crawl to see you one last time."

"Is your wound better?"

"Much better."

"Take off your clothes and let me see." Lyric didn't believe him and started to unbutton his work suit.

Daniel frowned and stopped her. "No need. There are scars on my back. It's not pretty."

"Daniel, if you don't listen, I'll leave you. Hurry up," she insisted.

He finally gave in.

He took off his clothes.

She saw his back, healed but covered in crisscrossing scars, the new skin contrasting sharply with the old.

Lyric felt both heartbroken and guilty, her tears falling on his cold back.

He turned and wiped her tears. "It's okay, Lyric. I'm a man. These scars are nothing to me. Besides, it's on my back. No one else will see it but you."

"I'm sorry for what my dad did to you. I'm so sorry he hit you with his cane," Lyric sobbed.

Daniel smiled, patiently wiping her tears and comforting her. "Actually, I'm very grateful to Mr. Vaughn."
