Chapter 364: Looking at the Husband, Can Look Openly and Honestly

Raymond was completely focused on the paper as he carefully wrote his name.

His fingers, gripping the pen, were long and slender, his skin pale against the black coat he wore, his posture straight and composed.

Maybe it was because his hand was wrapped in bandages that he wrote so slowly.

Margaret watched him, realizing he was quite handsome.

When he finished writing, Raymond looked up and met Margaret's inquisitive gaze.

Margaret's face flushed instantly, and she quickly looked away, feeling embarrassed for being caught staring.

Raymond handed her the paper with his bandaged hand. "You can look at your husband openly," he said.

Margaret felt even more embarrassed.

Raymond left the room.

Margaret's cheeks were still warm as she held the paper, looking at his handwriting.

Raymond. So, his name was Raymond.

She had noticed his hand was bandaged. How did he get hurt?

Just then, the door opened, and Alvin walked in, placing the food he had bought on the table in front of Margaret. He took out the utensils and handed them to her.

Margaret looked at him curiously. Remembering that Margaret had lost her memory, Alvin quickly introduced himself as Raymond's assistant.

Margaret took the utensils and started eating.

Seeing Margaret willing to eat, Alvin smiled with relief.

As if remembering something, Margaret looked up. "Why is Raymond's hand injured?"

"Mr. Raymond Howard got hurt because of you, Mrs. Margaret Howard. But the past is the past. You don't need to worry about it."

"Because of me?" Margaret looked at him in shock. "I did that to him?"

Was she really that violent?

Alvin looked uncomfortable. "Mrs. Margaret Howard, Mr. Raymond Howard doesn't want you to know about these things. It's better if you don't ask."

"I want to know," Margaret insisted. "I don't remember anything from the past. If you don't tell me, I won't know anything."

Alvin hesitated but then decided to tell her. He thought Raymond had suffered too much for Margaret. If she knew about his sacrifices, it might strengthen their relationship.

"Mrs. Margaret Howard, you were kidnapped by a client manager. Mr. Raymond Howard got his hand injured with a machete while saving you. At that time, you were also diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer. Mr. Raymond Howard felt very guilty. He thought he had neglected you because of his work. So, he canceled all his work and contacted Mr. Jones to focus on your treatment."

"Really?" Margaret murmured. She couldn't remember any of it.

A machete cutting to the bone must have been incredibly painful.

Alvin continued, "Mr. Howard cares about you deeply. When he found out you were kidnapped, he dropped everything and rushed to save you. You fell off a cliff, and Mr. Howard jumped after you without hesitation. He said he wouldn't live without you."

"Another time, I was driving you home, and we almost had a car accident. Mr. Howard arrived just in time. His car was totaled, and he was trapped inside. He was rescued just before the car caught fire."

"Since your cancer diagnosis, Mr. Howard has been by your side constantly, losing sleep and getting dark circles under his eyes."

"Mrs. Howard, I have a request."

Alvin bit his lip, hesitating as he looked at Margaret.

Margaret was still processing everything but nodded for him to continue.

"Mr. Howard has sacrificed so much for your treatment, even risking his own life. Please cooperate with the treatment and stay by Mr. Howard's side after the surgery. He doesn't express his feelings easily, but he loves you deeply."

"I've never seen Mr. Howard care about anyone as much as he cares about you. Please treat him well. His love for you has been his strength." Alvin omitted some details, like the fact that Marlon and Margaret were also in the car, and it was Sarah who saved Raymond.

He also didn't mention that Raymond was kicked off the cliff by the client manager, not that he jumped willingly.

But Alvin believed these details weren't important. His intentions were good.

Margaret frowned. "I didn't cooperate with the treatment before? Why not?"

Alvin was taken aback, not expecting her to dig deeper.

"If it's inconvenient to say, just forget I asked," Margaret said, trying to ease the tension.

Alvin, used to handling tough situations, smiled. "You didn't like injections or taking medicine because it was too bitter. That's all."

So, she had refused treatment because she hated the taste of medicine and feared injections.

After Alvin left, Margaret looked at the paper in her hand. It had Raymond's name on it. She lowered her eyes, her long lashes casting shadows. "Raymond."

To learn more about him, Margaret used her phone to search for Raymond's name.

Immediately, articles about Raymond popped up.

With curiosity, she clicked on one.

Raymond Howard, current CEO of The Hughes Group, married.

But the spouse section was blank.

Her father's name was Marlon.

Marlon. Was he her dad?

The articles about Raymond were all positive, almost like they were controlled. They praised his abilities and leadership, mentioning how he expanded The Hughes Group from a few hundred employees to over a thousand and successfully took the company public, making it a leader in the industry.

Margaret found a video, an interview ad.

She clicked on it.

Raymond, dressed in a well-fitted suit, sat in a chair, being interviewed by a female host.

The host first asked about his efforts in developing The Hughes Group.

Margaret noticed Raymond spoke clearly and logically.

The host then changed the topic. "Mr. Howard, can you tell us why you married your wife?"

Why did they get married? Margaret was curious too.

In the video, Raymond smiled meaningfully and looked at the camera with a tender gaze, as if speaking directly to her.

"Because of love," his deep, husky voice came through the phone.

Margaret bit her lip. Did they marry for love?

"Does Mr. Raymond Howard love Mrs. Margaret Howard, or does Mrs. Margaret Howard love you?" the host teased.

Raymond smiled at the camera and answered the question.
