Chapter 519 Ignore Him

Margaret couldn't believe it. He had just had surgery two months ago; he should still be in the hospital.

His lips were urgently devouring hers, biting and kissing.

The breath, the touch...

The technique.

It was all too familiar.

It was exactly like the person in her memories.

"Margaret, I'm back. I missed you so much."

He held her chin, moving back and forth.

Tears, crystal clear and burning hot, rolled down her cheeks.

They smeared her makeup, which she hadn't had time to remove.

His voice trembled, slightly hoarse.

He sounded like he was crying.

Margaret was momentarily stunned but quickly snapped back to reality.

They were divorced and had no connection anymore.

What did this hugging and kissing mean? How could they get entangled again and go back to the past?

She slapped him across the face. He staggered, let go of her, and took a step back.

Margaret turned on the wall lamp.

Raymond, dressed in hospital clothes, looked at her in disbelief.

He covered his cheek, his eyes filled with tears, his face pale. It was clear he had run away from the hospital.

"Margaret, it's me, Raymond, the Raymond you love. Do you know? To get out of bed sooner, to see you sooner, to reunite with you sooner, I've been diligently cooperating with my recovery for the past two months. The scene of our reunion has appeared in my dreams countless times."

Raymond raised his wrist, showing the red string. "This lucky string, I bought it the day before my surgery. Lying in the operating room, the anesthesia needle piercing my body, it hurt so much. There was only a twenty percent chance I'd make it off the operating table. Lying on that cold table, I touched this lucky string and prayed for good luck. Margaret, it's all over. All the difficulties have disappeared. This time, no one can stop us from being together."

Margaret listened to his tearful, sweet words.

Her brow furrowed, her emotions were complex.

Before she lost her memory, if he had said these things, she would have thrown herself into his arms without any hesitation, like a fool, and reconciled with him.

But now she was clear-headed. The downfall of the Hughes Family.

Her parents' deaths were vivid in her mind.

How could they be together forever?

'There's no going back, Raymond. We can't go back.' She wondered.

Raymond saw that she didn't refute, didn't speak coldly, and he was moved to tears. The past period had been too torturous, and finally, he could hold Margaret in his arms.

He opened his arms, wanting to hug her.

Margaret took a step back. "Raymond, please stay away from me. Do I need to remind you? We're divorced."

Raymond's arms froze in mid-air, his pale fingers slowly curling.

"Divorced, we can remarry." His throat was sore, his Adam's apple bobbing.

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw Margaret's cold smile. "Remarry? You really are shameless."

Shameless? The word pierced his heart like a silver needle.

For a moment, he didn't even realize Margaret was mocking him.

But he didn't care, his posture was very low, very humble. "You've taken the initiative so many times for me. What's wrong with me taking the initiative once?"

"Raymond, is this your new boring trick?"

"What?"

"Do you want to see how pathetic I am? To see me being manipulated by you, then abandoned and hurt again?" Margaret mocked.

Only then did he realize she had misunderstood. "Those words, I said them to avoid dragging you down. I actually love you very much."

"If you don't want to drag me down, stay away from me." Margaret looked at his weak face, feeling irritated, glaring at him impatiently.

"Raymond, you have nothing now. What right do you have to remarry me? Do you deserve it?"

Of course, he ddidn't. But he wanted to atone.

He said, "I want to make it up to you. With the rest of my life."

He turned his face swiftly and spoke of compensation immediately. It seemed she was just a soulless, thoughtless pet in his eyes.

Tears slowly accumulated in her eyes, Margaret shouted with tears, "I don't need it! Raymond, we can't go back! We can't go back! If you really want to make it up to me, stay away from me! Because when I see your face, I get irritated. I get angry."

These words were like a bucket of cold water, dousing Raymond's hard-earned courage.

He blinked his dry eyes. "Margaret, don't say such hurtful things. It makes me sad."

Tears rolled down his cheeks.

"Getting to this point wasn't easy. Cherish the people in front of you."

After he caused her so much pain and made her an orphan, he now casually said, "cherish the people in front of you." This was far too lenient a punishment for Raymond.

Margaret raised her pale fingers, wiping away her tears bit by bit, her throat sore. "Get out! Right now, immediately, get out of my house! My parents don't want to see your face!"

Margaret grabbed her handbag and threw it at him. It hit the corner of his eye, causing him to feel dizzy with pain. He almost couldn't stand.

"Get out! Do I need to call the police to get you out?"

After Raymond left, Margaret slid down the cold wall onto the dark carpet. Tears streamed down her face. Her heart felt like it was suffocating.

The next day, after work, Daniel had asked Margaret out for dinner, and Margaret was ready to give him an answer. They walked side by side towards the entrance of The Hughes Group.

"Ms. Hughes, are you and Mr. Taylor dating?" A few female employees saw them walking together after work and gossiped.

"I—" Margaret wanted to say no.

Another female colleague chimed in. "Of course, Ms. Hughes and Mr. Taylor are recognized as a perfect match in our company."

"Mr. Taylor, we're all waiting for your good news. Your kids will definitely be beautiful."

Daniel smiled, finding their words pleasing. Margaret wanted to speak, but the female employees laughed and walked away.

Daniel looked at her, comforting. "Don't mind what others think. People live for themselves. If you have to explain to everyone who misunderstands you, will you still have time to work?"

That made sense. Margaret smiled, feeling relieved.

This scene fell into Raymond's view from a distance. He had heard the female employees' words too. Jealousy and bitterness filled Raymond's heart, almost making it explode.

"Margaret." Raymond called out emotionally.

Margaret's body stiffened, she looked up and saw Raymond, who still dressed in his usual business attire. His face was handsome, even without the title of The Hughes Group's president, he stood out in the crowd, easily noticeable. His hair was meticulously groomed. The suit, tie, pants, shoes, all were things she had once bought for him.

Margaret ignored him, looking at Daniel. "Let's go."

She ignored Raymond. He was unwilling, grabbing her arm. "Margaret, let's talk."
