Chapter 172 Let Me Die with My Dad

Raymond got pissed when he saw her looking so down. She messed up, and now she was throwing a fit? Who did she think she was?

Raymond slammed the table and sneered, "You think you can threaten me? You've got some nerve!"

Margaret trembled, her face pale and sickly, and forced a bitter smile. "It's not a threat, just the truth. Since you've already got an urn ready, make it two. I'll die with my dad."

Raymond struggled to control his anger and snapped, "Are you done eating? Come with me."

Margaret replied, "I don't want to go anywhere."

Raymond laughed in exasperation. "If you really want your dad to die, just defy me one more time." Every time he said something, she had a comeback. She messed up and needed his help. Didn't she know how to play nice? Didn't she get the concept of obedience?

Margaret calmed down at his words. She looked at him, surprised, and asked, "Where are we going?"

"The hospital," he said gruffly.

But she didn't mind. The hospital? Was he taking her to see Marlon? Was he going to restart Marlon's treatment?

Margaret felt her gloom lift. If it meant seeing Marlon, she definitely wanted to go. She knew Nancy would worry if she saw her like this, so she needed to freshen up and put on some makeup.

"Wait a moment, I need to freshen up," Margaret said, then hurried to the master bedroom.

Raymond waited for her to leave before lighting a cigarette. As the smoke swirled around him, his expression grew colder.

After a few cigarettes, Margaret came back, dressed and made up. He glanced at her, and his eyes lit up. She looked just like she did when they first met in college— bright and cheerful. It was like nothing had happened between them.

Raymond quickly put out his cigarette. Margaret gave a bitter smile. It didn't matter if he put it out or not; she had already had a miscarriage.

"You don't need to worry about me." Margaret bit her lip.

Raymond looked at her, annoyed, and snorted, "I never worried about you, only my child."

Margaret blurted out, "What if the child is gone?"

He squinted his eyes and after a moment said, "I'd make the entire Hughes family pay for it."

Margaret's face went pale. The entire Hughes family would pay for that child? Blinking her dry eyes, she realized Marlon was doomed.

Raymond said, "It's good that you're afraid. Margaret, if you're smart, you'll give birth to the child. My promise still stands. But if you try anything, you, Marlon, and the Hughes family will suffer terribly."

Raymond stared at her down jacket-covered belly. She was afraid of the cold, so she dressed warmly. He couldn't tell that her belly was already flat. Raymond grabbed the car keys and headed downstairs without waiting for her.Margaret followed behind, deep in thought. She swallowed hard. How long could she hide the miscarriage? Once he found out, it would be the end of the Hughes family.

In the car, Margaret was filled with worry and fear. She felt like she was walking a tightrope, each step so difficult and cautious, yet still easy to fall and shatter.

Raymond drove in silence, occasionally glancing at her pale face. The weather wasn't even that cold today. How could she be so fragile? Her lips were colorless from the cold. Raymond turned on the heater and adjusted the vents.

Margaret felt the warm air on her fingers and gradually relaxed. "Sarah's been diagnosed with depression." Raymond's cold voice suddenly broke the silence.

She didn't care about Sarah at all and responded indifferently. He said with a mocking smile, "Got anything to say?"

Margaret wondered if he was deliberately trying to provoke her or if he simply couldn't resist annoying her.

Sarah was her rival, the woman who ruined her family, and the murderer who tried to kill her in Silverwood. Sarah getting depression was well-deserved! It was karma! And he still asked if she had anything to say? Margaret sneered, "I have nothing to say."

He said, "What if I insist you say something?"

She scoffed, "Then I'll say God is punishing her, and she deserves it."

Margaret glanced at Raymond and said with a mocking smile, "Don't worry, you might end up worse than her."

"Margaret, do you have to talk to me like this?" Raymond's face darkened, his eyelids twitching in anger.

Margaret snorted, "I already said I have no opinion, but you insist I say something. Do you expect me to say something nice? Raymond, I never learned to act. If you want to hear nice words, go find her. But now that she has depression, she probably can't say anything nice either."

"If you can't talk, then shut up!" Raymond glared at her and sped up the car.

Margaret knew he was angry and taking it out on the car. She obediently shut her mouth. She didn't want to upset herself before seeing Nancy.

Soon, the car stopped at the hospital entrance. But Margaret didn't get out because she realized this wasn't the hospital where Marlon was, but the one where she had her psychological tests! But Marlon hadn't been transferred! Raymond wasn't taking her to see Marlon and Nancy. Margaret instantly guessed what he was up to.

Raymond unbuckled his seatbelt and, seeing her still sitting, said, "Aren't you getting out? Do you want me to carry you?"

"Who are you taking me to see?" Margaret squinted her eyes, her voice tinged with anger.

Raymond's expression seemed off as he said, "You'll know when you get there."

"Sarah has depression, and you're taking me to see her? Aren't you afraid she'll get jealous and threaten suicide? Raymond, you're a terrible person. It's one thing to treat me badly, but you're also being cruel to Sarah. What are you trying to achieve by taking me to upset her?" Margaret suddenly laughed; she had thought he was so good to Sarah.

He said with a slight smile, "Seeing you will make her feel better."

"Really? I have the power to cure depression? How come I didn't know? If you want to go, go yourself. I won't act," Margaret said angrily, her heart heavy. If she died, Sarah would be more happier. Should she give her life to Sarah?

"You won't go? Why not? You disfigured her and gave her depression. Shouldn't you apologize? Margaret, after doing such horrible things, how can you sleep at night?" Raymond grabbed her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.
