Chapter 529 Raymond Returns to the Business World, Attracting Worldwide Attention
Early summer, the sun wasn't too harsh yet.
Daniel stood outside The Taylor Group, a pristine cigarette between his fingers, smoking quietly.
He thought, 'Margaret must be taking care of Raymond by now. It wonn't be long before I receive a wedding invitation.'
The girl he'd secretly loved for ten years, this time, he had a feeling she truly didn't need him anymore.
Daniel wasn't a smoker, but ever since Margaret drove to the hospital, he hadn't been without a cigarette. He didn't regret it; he just wanted the girl he loved to be happy, joyful, and always smiling.
As he took a drag, someone bumped into his shoulder. A woman's fragrance surrounded him.
Many women tried to get close to him, but he despised this kind the most.
He took a step back and lifted his gaze.
A young woman in a tight denim dress, with a great figure.
A pile of documents scattered on the ground.
She apologized while picking them up, "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to."
Daniel looked down at her, bent over, and picked up a resume from the ground. Without looking at it, he handed it to her, "Watch where you're going."
"Okay, okay." The young woman looked up, her eyes meeting Daniel's as he stood against the light.
She froze for a few seconds.
She and Daniel were both students at Unity University, though he was a few years ahead. She had only seen his photo on the Outstanding Alumni board at school.
In the photo, Daniel had sharp features and a clean, untainted smile.
To get closer to him, she had disguised herself as an ordinary office worker and came to The Taylor Group for an internship. In reality, she was the daughter of the richest man in Regal City.
She wanted to win Daniel's heart, develop a relationship, and then reveal her true identity.
Perhaps her gaze was too obvious.
Daniel categorized her as one of those young girls looking for shortcuts, his eyes growing colder as he shoved the resume back into her hands, "If you got an internship at The Taylor Group, you must have some skills. I hope you're here to genuinely intern."
The underlying message was clear: don't take any shortcuts. He wasn't interested.
The young woman bit her lip and agreed.
He stubbed out his cigarette and turned away, leaving her with a cold back.
Her beloved was so aloof. But she was strong-willed. After receiving a call from HR urging her to report, she hurriedly squeezed into the elevator.
At the hospital.
When Margaret woke up, she found a blanket over her and the documents she needed to handle had already been taken care of by Raymond.
He was still on a ventilator and needed plenty of rest.
Deep within her heart, she felt herself gradually moved and yielding to emotion.
"Feeling touched?" Raymond, in his hospital gown, grinned at her, "Don't rush to be moved; there will be plenty more moments like this."
Margaret used the last bit of her rationality to remind herself; 'Margaret, don't forgive him so easily. He's done this before; he needs a lesson.' She wondered.
"Stop talking nonsense." Margaret smirked, mocking him.
But despite her words, she went downstairs to buy the porridge Raymond had said was delicious the night before.
When she returned to the room, she saw him looking at a stack of documents. He was on the phone with Alvin, discussing the company's future projects.
She deliberately knocked on the door.
Raymond looked up and quickly ended the call.
Margaret opened the food container and handed him a spoon. He played along, "Hey, babe, how about you feed me?"
"Raymond, stop it!" she warned him.
He didn't get angry, obediently taking the container, "Alright, alright."
"Are you starting a business?" Margaret asked, sitting down.
He nodded, "Invested ten million dollars."
He had given all his money to Margaret before. When she heard about the ten million dollar investment, her first reaction was to frown. "You hid money from me? Raymond, you lied to me."
"Are you mad?" Raymond asked, smiling as he ate the porridge.
Margaret didn't know why she was angry, "What do you think?"
"Most of the money is from loans, and part of it is Alvin's entire savings," Raymond explained seriously, "Alvin is my partner now, not my subordinate. Babe, I wanted to tell you once the company was stable. But since you heard, I'll tell you now."
He looked at her with deep affection, "I want to recover quickly, build the company. I don't want to be seen as a man who only relies on you, Margaret. Once the company is profitable, I'll propose to you. We'll take new wedding photos and have a grand wedding."
"If you needed money, why didn't you tell me? I could lend it to you, with interest," Margaret said after a long pause.
He smiled, "Margaret, remember, no man can ask the woman he loves for money. I have my pride. This time, I want to stand on my own and marry you."
His intention was to stand on his own and marry her.
Those plans were very tempting.
Margaret felt moved. She didn't know if the weather would be as good on the day she remarried Raymond, or how she would feel—overwhelmed with emotions or as joyful as the first time.
Raymond held the porridge bowl in one hand and reached for her hand with the other.
His hand was soft and large.
Maybe because he wasn't fully recovered, his hand felt a bit cool.
Holding his hand, she felt a rare sense of peace.
"Raymond, I'm not easy to win over. Think it through," Margaret said, though her heart was already melting.
He spoke firmly, "I've thought it through. No matter how hard it is, I'll win you over. Margaret, this time I won't make you wait long. In six months, once the company is stable, we'll get married. During this time, you can observe me. This time, I'll fully respect your thoughts and choices."
Margaret was stunned. It was the first time she'd heard Raymond say he wanted to fully respect her thoughts.
He used to be domineering, forceful, not knowing how to love.
"Margaret, I grew up in hatred, not knowing how to love or care for someone. Teach me. My IQ is decent. I'm good at learning."
Two months later, Raymond recovered from his illness and was discharged.
From then on, he spent his time between The Howard Group and his apartment.
The company's success exceeded his expectations.
The company's growth far surpassed The Hughes Group and The Taylor Group.
Raymond created a business legend, returning to the business world.
Margaret saw his news in magazines and financial reports every day.
