Chapter 606 You Can Only Be Mine for a Lifetime
Lyric never thought Zephyr, who always spoiled her, would scold her over Daniel. Her attitude towards Daniel grew even colder, her expression darkening.
Zephyr insisted she apologize to Daniel.
Naturally, she refused. Daniel, ever the peacemaker, quickly smiled at Zephyr. "Mr. Vaughn, Lyric didn't mean it. No need for an apology. As a man, I won't take it to heart. As for her outfit, Lyric should wear whatever makes her comfortable."
"See how understanding Daniel is?" Zephyr frowned, then turned to Daniel with a smile. "Daniel, Lyric's been pampered since she was little, so she's a bit spoiled. Please bear with her."
"Of course."
Zephyr then looked at Lyric. "Daniel's new to Regal City and doesn't know his way around. Why don't you show him around today? Get to know each other better."
Lyric glared at Daniel, sneering. "You sure you want me to show you around? No regrets?"
"Please, Ms. Vaughn, I'd appreciate your guidance," Daniel replied with a smile.
Fuming, she stormed out of the house, with Daniel following behind.
He drove, and she deliberately sat in the back, treating him like a chauffeur.
They wandered around a tourist spot, and Lyric glared at him impatiently. "You're shameless. I told you it's not going to work, yet you still cling on. What's the point?"
"Lyric, I like you, so of course, I'll pursue you. If I can win you back, who cares about being shameless?" Daniel said calmly.
"Too bad I don't like you."
"No problem, as long as I like you."
"I'm done talking to you."
Lyric's tone was icy.
They stood there for a while, and after about ten minutes, Daniel noticed she was waiting for someone. Gerald arrived, and she waved excitedly. "Gerald, over here."
Gerald was equally thrilled to see her, grinning from ear to ear.
They hugged warmly, treating Daniel like he was invisible.
With three people, one always felt like a third wheel, and that person was Daniel.
Lyric and Gerald chatted endlessly, went on a boat ride, and sat close together, leaving Daniel trailing behind like a bodyguard.
They took photos, standing very close.
Daniel struggled to contain his jealousy and anger.
At lunch, they deliberately didn't order for him.
By the time his food arrived, they had finished eating and were ready to leave.
Daniel didn't bother eating, just followed them.
He spent the whole day as their bodyguard.
His feet ached from all the walking.
In the evening, they even went to a couples' movie.
Daniel couldn't take it anymore. He wanted to get angry but couldn't, feeling like he was about to explode. He coldly said, "Enjoy the movie. I won't disturb you."
Then he left without looking back.
After he left, Lyric's triumphant smile faded. Gerald asked curiously, "Lyric, are we still watching the movie? It'd be a waste not to."
"No, let's go for a walk."
Lyric smiled at him.
They left the theater, and Gerald walked with her along the river.
"Lyric, you still can't let him go, can you?"
"No."
"I can tell. As soon as he left, you stopped smiling. If you still like him, maybe give him another chance. Everyone makes mistakes. But if you don't, just forget I said anything."
"I won't forgive him." Lyric stared at her sharp high heels, as if reminding herself.
Her pride wouldn't allow it.
She had once passionately pursued him, only to be treated as a substitute. She couldn't get over that.
Did he come back to make her a stand-in for Margaret again?
Night fell, and the river occasionally saw a cruise ship pass by.
There were many people out for a walk: elderly couples, joggers, young people with headphones, and chatting couples.
Gerald, ever the gentleman, walked her to her door.
Lyric thanked him and said, "You have a shoot tomorrow. Focus on your work. Your career is important."
"No worries. The set is nearby. If you need me as a shield, just call. I'm happy to help."
"Okay." She smiled faintly.
After waving goodbye to Gerald, she pushed open the large iron gate and entered the villa.
The lights were all off. Zephyr and Remy went to bed early and were already asleep.
Normally, if she came back this late, her phone would be blowing up, but tonight, it was unusually quiet.
It seemed Daniel had really won them over quickly.
She smirked, changed her shoes, and went upstairs.
Lyric had an entire floor to herself.
The wall lights cast a serene glow.
She had just opened her bedroom door and closed it behind her.
Before she could turn on the light, a pair of hands wrapped around her waist, pushing her against the hard door.
Lyric was stunned. Their security was so tight, yet someone had snuck into her room.
Just as she was about to speak, her lips were covered by wine-stained ones.
The man smelled of a pleasant pine scent.
She immediately realized it was Daniel. How did he get into her room? This was the Vaughn Villa. How bold was he?
Lyric tried to push him away.
He was strong, pinning her hands behind her back, pressing her against the door, unable to move.
Daniel's mind was filled with images from the day. Lyric laughed with Gerald, and ignored him.
They had watched a couples' movie.
Just now, they had said their goodbyes at the villa.
It was late. After the movie, were there other activities?
Daniel was furious and jealous, thinking of Lyric's coldness towards him and her friendliness towards another man.
It had been too long since he touched her. He had only meant to punish her, but one kiss made him want more.
Lyric resisted the kiss, so he grabbed her chin, forcing his way in.
She glared at him, struggling.
But the strength difference between men and women was significant.
Daniel kissed her harder, desperate to hold her close. "Lyric, you're mine. You'll always be mine. Don't think you can run. You can't escape. Your mother said we're destined to be together. You and Gerald have no future."
