Chapter 597 Since Meeting, Full of Surprises
Raymond stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in his home, chatting on the phone with Daniel. He teased, "Daniel, I never knew you were this confident."
"Get your gift ready for the wedding," Daniel shot back without missing a beat.
Raymond turned around and suddenly saw Margaret coming up the stairs. He ended the call.
Following Margaret into the bedroom, he watched as she sat at her vanity, picking out a bottle of skincare lotion from among many. She poured some into her hand and gently applied it to her smooth skin.
When you loved someone, just watching them, no matter what they were doing, could make you smile.
He walked over to her, gathered her long hair, and placed it over one shoulder. Then he removed the expensive necklace from around her neck. "Is Felicity asleep?"
"Yeah, Mary already put her to bed," Margaret replied, patting her face with a soothing toner. His hands, however, couldn't stay still and wrapped around her waist.
He held her tightly in his arms.
"Honey—"
"What is it?"
"You smell amazing."
"Raymond, cut it out. By the way, did you talk to Daniel about Della?" Margaret glanced at him and continued her skincare routine.
He nodded. "I did. But Daniel's fearless; he wants to stay there and pursue Della. He told us to get ready for the wedding."
"Della likes Daniel so much; they'll definitely make up."
"That's not a given. With Della's background, she won't be easy to win over."
"Are you saying that because my background is average, I can tolerate your messes and keep forgiving you?" Margaret frowned, clearly displeased.
Noticing her misunderstanding, he patiently explained, "That's not what I meant."
"Raymond, I'm warning you. Whether you meant it or not, I need to make this clear. My background may not be as impressive as Della's, and I may rely on you now, but I won't tolerate you fooling around. If you dare to have an affair, we're done," Margaret said angrily.
Feeling a bit guilty, he avoided her eyes and buried his head in her neck, gently nibbling on her collarbone. "Honey!"
"What is it?"
"I'm under a lot of pressure. Can you help me relieve it?"
Raymond wasn't lying. The weight of the issue made him feel suffocated. It was easy to be indifferent when it was someone else's problem, but when it hit him, it was a different story.
Margaret thought he was stressed about work. Besides, they hadn't been intimate since having the baby. She didn't want to spoil the moment.
He carefully laid her on the bed, holding her gently.
His kisses were soft, afraid of hurting her.
Margaret kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Honey, you can be a bit bolder."
With those words, he lost his restraint.
Already under a lot of pressure, he wasn't very gentle.
Raymond loved to tease her in moments like these.
Her forehead and body were covered in sweat.
He opened the drawer to get a condom, but she hugged him from behind. "Raymond, let's have another baby."
Half desire, half struggle, Raymond looked at Margaret behind him.
He brushed the hair from her face. "It'll be tough on you."
"But I don't mind. Having a baby for the man I love is worth it. Raymond, with just Felicity, I'm worried she'll be lonely. When we're old, how can she handle the family business alone? She needs a sibling. If we have another child, our daughter will have someone to rely on." Her words reminded her of her own situation. Being an only child, she felt helpless when her family faced difficulties.
If she had a sibling, her parents might not have died so soon.
The Hughes Family might not have fallen so quickly.
Raymond felt even more guilty hearing this. All the pain she endured was because of him.
"Besides, it's not like we'll have to worry about a pregnancy right away. Let's not use protection, okay?" She gently kissed him.
A loving woman could be incredibly persuasive.
Like Margaret right now.
He thought that if they had another child, maybe when the inevitable explosion happened, she'd be more forgiving for the sake of the kids.
Raymond had his own selfish reasons.
He smiled and kissed her, mumbling, "Okay."
Meanwhile, Daniel was starving, eating his meal when he got a call from Cade.
Cade was checking in on his blind date.
"She wasn't interested in me," Daniel said honestly.
Cade was frustrated. "You idiot, a golden opportunity falls into your lap, and you can't catch it. How can The Taylor Family rely on you?"
"You could always have another kid," Daniel suggested.
"If I had time for that, would I be wasting it talking to you?" Cade laughed in exasperation. After a long silence, he asked, "When are you coming back?"
Daniel added, "I don't plan on coming back."
"You're not coming back?"
"What's the point if I can't win over the girl you want?"
"I thought you didn't like her. What's changed?"
"Love at first sight. She's exactly my type," Daniel said calmly.
Cade asked, "How do you plan to pursue her?"
"I'll just keep at it."
"Who taught you that?"
"Nothing else to say, I'm hanging up."
"Son, I'm glad you're finally over Della. But remember, she's the richest man's daughter. Be careful. Don't lose the family business over this. Mr. Zephyr Vaughn dotes on his daughter. Don't mess this up. If you anger her, it won't matter that you saved Mrs. Remy Vaughn's life. They'll turn on us without hesitation," Cade warned.
He wanted to give Daniel more advice from his own experience, but Daniel hung up.
Cade wasn't angry. His assistant brought him coffee, and he smiled.
"Mr. Taylor, you seem very happy. Did you find a treasure?" the assistant asked.
Cade inhaled the coffee's aroma and looked pleased. "Daniel finally figured it out."
"What?" The assistant was confused. "Mr. Taylor doesn't like Della anymore?"
Cade nodded. "Daniel's focused on Ms. Vaughn now. He finally got it. Now I just hope he can win her over. God bless him and The Taylor Family."
