Chapter 537 His Heart, If Not Returned, Then Given to Her

"Daniel, don't say that. I still want you to be happy. You're such an amazing person; you can't just end up alone," Margaret said, clearly upset by his words.

Even though her tone carried a hint of reproach, Daniel still smiled. This was Margaret showing concern for him, a rare moment of genuine care.

Suddenly, romantic music filled the room, and the emcee took the microphone, announcing, "Let's welcome the bride!"

The spotlight instantly focused on Daniel and Margaret.

Margaret held onto his arm, walking towards the emcee at the center of the stage, towards Raymond, amidst a shower of flower petals.

She was pregnant, so beneath her white wedding dress, she wore flat shoes. She had wanted to wear heels, but Raymond insisted on flats for her comfort and the baby's safety.

Margaret was happy to let Raymond handle every detail.

Raymond approached them, looking incredibly handsome today. His eyes were fixed on Margaret, and he couldn't help but smile.

As the emcee spoke, Raymond knelt on one knee, offering the bouquet of red roses to Margaret.

The bouquet was filled with her favorite red roses, each one vibrant and in full bloom.

Margaret accepted the bouquet.

Seeing the deep affection between them, Daniel felt a complex mix of emotions.

As her nominal brother, he said what he was supposed to say, "Raymond, I'm entrusting Margaret to you today. You better treat her well. I'm her brother, and if you ever stop loving her, bring her back to me. I'll take care of her for the rest of her life. No matter what she does wrong, you can't be harsh with her. Behind her stands me, Daniel, and the entire Taylor family."

The guests, unaware of the complicated emotions between the three, thought Daniel was a very responsible brother.

"I will treat her well, Daniel," Raymond said, his eyes also tearing up as he took Margaret's hand from Daniel.

The emcee invited Daniel to take a seat and watch the ceremony.

Daniel sat at the closest table to the stage.

He watched the wedding ceremony intently, listening to Margaret and Raymond exchange heartfelt vows.

Facing Raymond, Margaret blinked, her throat tight with emotion. She had cried several times today, unable to hold back her tears.

Raymond gently wiped her tears.

Once she regained her composure, she choked out, "Raymond."

"I'm here," he responded.

"I've known you since college. I was the one who pursued you. Our love story isn't like other campus romances. We've been through so many hardships, but also sweet and happy moments. I never dreamed we would have a day like this." Margaret's tears kept falling as she held the microphone, looking at the large diamond ring Raymond had placed on her finger.

Raymond had learned about jewelry design to create this unique ring for her. Every detail was meticulously crafted, filled with his love for her.

They had surmounted numerous challenges. Fortunately, they never let go of each other's hands, never drifted apart.

Margaret's emotions overwhelmed her, and she couldn't continue.

Daniel, sitting in the audience, silently teared up, feeling a mix of heartache and relief.

Leading the applause, Daniel encouraged others to clap, giving Margaret strength.

Margaret wiped her tears, holding the microphone, gazing at Raymond. "Raymond, we're both orphans now, only having each other. You have to treat me well, understand? Always make me happy. Raymond, I'm so glad it's you. I'm glad we made it to the end, never letting go of each other's hands."

Raymond embraced her, patting her back, trying to comfort her.

After a while, he let go.

He raised the microphone, his eyes also red. "Margaret, thank you. Thank you for giving me a chance to make amends. A chance to grow old with you. I made many mistakes before, didn't understand my own heart, hurt you, said many hurtful things. But now, I want to tell you, I know you love me. But how much do you know about my love for you?"

Margaret looked at him, not speaking.

"From the moment we first met in college, when you were welcoming new students, you know, even in the crowd, I noticed you. From that moment, you were deeply embedded in my heart, in my memory. In other words, even if you hadn't pursued me, I would have sought you out."

"Margaret, in our journey of love, you were never alone. I've always loved you." He had suppressed his feelings back then, deliberately cold and distant.

Margaret covered her mouth, moved to tears.

She realized she wasn't alone.

Raymond had also fallen for her at first sight.

"Margaret, I will love you for a lifetime. And I will love our child for a lifetime. The storms are behind us. From now on, every day will be Valentine's Day, every day will be filled with happiness."

The guests were moved to tears by the couple's words, applauding and blessing them.

Finally, it was time to throw the bouquet.

A group of unmarried girls eagerly awaited.

Margaret took the microphone, apologizing. "I'm sorry, but I don't plan to throw this bouquet. I want to give it to someone special."

"Really? Who does the bride want to give it to?" the emcee asked naturally.

Margaret turned to look at Daniel, seated nearby. "Daniel, come up here."

The audience applauded again, welcoming Daniel to the stage.

He stood up, buttoning his suit jacket, bowed slightly to the guests, then turned and walked to the stage.

"Daniel, although you're not my biological brother, I consider you family. I want to give you this bouquet. Daniel, I want to pass on my good fortune to you. I hope the girl meant for you will come into your life soon, warm you, take care of you, and make you happy." Margaret, tearfully, handed him the bouquet. "Daniel, when you find someone you like, be brave and express your feelings. We hope to attend your wedding someday."

Daniel thought to himself, 'Margaret, after missing you, everyone else is just a shadow. Protecting you has become a habit. I'll keep doing it.'

He decided to give his heart to her, unable to take it back.

From now on, the world had one more person who didn't believe in marriage. Daniel still graciously accepted the bouquet, smiling. "I'll find a girlfriend soon."
