Chapter 570 I Will Try My Best to Fall in Love with You

Lyric's dry eyes blinked. It was the first time she had heard such words used to describe her.

"No thanks. I'm not interested in this kind of charity, this kind of compensation." Lyric was simply heartbroken. His words made her want to laugh.

Daniel handed her a peeled apple.

She took it with a scowl and tossed it into the trash can right in front of him.

He didn't get angry. Instead, he calmly analyzed the situation for her. "Della, calm down and think about my suggestion. There's no need to be sensitive, no need to overthink, and definitely no need to feel inferior. You are my future wife, and I want you to be confident, just like when we first met. As for love, I will do my best to fall in love with you. I won't let you pursue me alone for too long. You like me so much; I can't believe you won't be moved."

"That was before. Daniel, it's too late. If you had said these things to me earlier, I would have been moved to tears. But you have wounded me countless times. I don't like you anymore," Lyric said coldly.

Daniel gave a bitter smile. "It's okay if you don't like me. Once you marry me and I take care of you, you'll fall for me again. I genuinely want to make amends. I'm sorry for the loss I've caused you. I'm already working on fixing things. Please give me a chance, okay? If you don't accept, I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life."

Lyric didn't want to talk to him anymore.

"My character and upbringing won't allow me to abandon you. I had planned never to marry, but now I want to make it up to you. I've started thinking about marriage again. Lyric, let's give it a try, okay?"

Lyric looked at him, her eyes full of fatigue. If only he had said these words earlier. But it was too late; everything was too late.

Her gaze shifted from him to the green plants on the windowsill. "You should go. I'm tired."

"Alright, get some rest. Della, I hope that by the next time I visit, you'll have thought it through. I've looked at several wedding dresses, and they all suit you. When you're discharged, I'll go with you to try them on."

As Daniel spoke, he fiddled with his phone. Shortly after, Lyric's phone, which was next to her pillow, buzzed. She waited until he left to check it.

It was pictures of several wedding dresses that were dazzling and beautiful on the mannequins. The proposal she had once wanted was now within reach when she no longer desired it.

She glanced at the message coldly. Another one came in: [Do you like these wedding dresses? If not, I'll have a designer create one tailored to your preferences.]

Lyric ignored it, exited the chat, and set his contact to "Do Not Disturb."

Her best friend called, wanting to go shopping and showing concern in her words.

Not wanting her friend to worry, Lyric lied, saying she was busy for the next few days and would get in touch when she had time.

A few days later.

An unexpected visitor appeared in her hospital room—Cade.

Despite appearing to be in his sixties, Cade was impeccably groomed, without a single gray hair, and wore a perfectly tailored suit. As soon as he entered, his assistant set up a chair for him, and he began scrutinizing Lyric.

His gaze was sharp, and his lips curled in disdain.

Lyric didn't speak either, also scrutinizing him. Being stared at so brazenly was indeed rude. She frowned slightly.

Finally, Cade broke the silence. "You sure are calm, not afraid of me at all."

"Mr. Taylor, I have a clear conscience. What is there to be afraid of? On the contrary, your family has wronged me," Lyric sneered.

Cade scoffed. "How much money do you want?"

A few days ago, Daniel had sworn he would marry her, and now Cade was here asking how much money she wanted. Did she look like a woman in need of money?

"Your son wants to marry me."

"Are you kidding? Doesn't your house have a mirror? A woman like you, marrying Daniel? Ridiculous. Let me tell you, I've already arranged another marriage for Daniel. If all goes well, he'll be married soon. You should think about how much money you want; that's more practical."

Lyric replied coldly, "I don't need money."

"If you don't need money, why did you seduce Daniel? Girls like you are shameless. At such a young age, you take shortcuts to make money by selling yourself. Are you dissatisfied with the money you make from selling yourself, so you staged this to exploit Daniel's guilt and get close to him? Let me tell you, he may be easy to fool, but I'm not. You'd better take the money and settle this privately. Go back to where you came from. You'll never marry Daniel," Cade said harshly.

Lyric squinted her eyes, her hand gripping the blanket into a fist.

Cade extended his hand, and his assistant handed him a check. Cade threw the check onto Lyric's bed. "Here's a million dollars. Leave my son."

A million dollars.

Lyric grabbed the check, tore it to pieces in front of him, and threw it in his face. "Get out. You and Daniel are both disgusting."

"Della, don't push it."

"Do you want me to call the police? I don't mind making the front page with you tomorrow," Lyric threatened, hitting his weak spot.

Cade glared at her hatefully, warned her not to regret it, and left without looking back.

Lyric exhaled.

She picked up her phone and opened it: [Della, did you sleep well last night? Have you had breakfast?]

She didn't reply. She knew there were probably many more messages from him in the chat, but she didn't respond. Since she had decided to leave, there was no need to get entangled with these people.

Her health improved day by day.

Daniel didn't show up again, only contacting her through WhatsApp, which she never responded to.

She asked the doctor and confirmed that her health was fine. Without telling Daniel, she completed the discharge procedures and bought a ticket back to Regal City.

Two days before leaving, she arranged to go shopping with a friend.

Her friend noticed her heavy heart, whether shopping or eating. So she asked what had happened, and Lyric briefly explained the situation.

"Daniel treated you as a substitute? How could he be so blind? You're genuinely wealthy," her friend said indignantly, slamming her glass on the table. "Why didn't you tell me? Bearing this alone. You've suffered so much; I can't stand it. No, I have to tell your parents! Let them stand up for you!"

With that, her friend picked up her phone, ready to contact Lyric's parents.
