Chapter 315 Margaret is Dying
Margaret was stunned for half a second, thinking she was seeing things.
Raymond was here.
Evelyn also looked over and saw Raymond wearing a black coat, rushing in with dust and snow all over his shoulders.
Despite this, Raymond still exuded an intimidating aura of authority.
He approached Evelyn step by step, curling his lips in a cold, mocking smile. "You dare to kidnap my wife, tired of living?"
Evelyn seemed to understand something, turned her head, and glared at Margaret. "So, all those things you said were lies! You said he wouldn't come for you, that you weren't his favorite woman! Why is he here then? You wanted to trick me into letting you go and then kill me?"
"Let her go, or it won't be as simple as terminating the partnership!" Raymond warned, continuing to approach.
Hearing this, Evelyn turned her head and saw Raymond getting closer and closer. She hurriedly unzipped her down jacket. She was strapped with explosives!
Evelyn pulled out a lighter, glaring at Raymond. "Don't come any closer! If you do, I'll ignite the explosives, and we'll all go to hell together!"
Raymond's eyes suddenly turned cold, and he stopped in his tracks.
"Don't be impulsive, we can talk this out!" Raymond said.
Evelyn laughed bitterly, tears of grievance streaming down her face: "Talk it out? Mr. Howard, you're so arrogant! I've always wanted to talk it out with you, but did you ever give me a chance? No! You didn't give me any chance at all!"
"All I did was mock your wife a few times, thought she was dating Mr. Miller, and tried to seduce you but failed. Did you really have to terminate the partnership over that? You could have just replaced me, but why terminate the partnership with my company because of my personal issues!"
"You might be fine, but I'm the one suffering! The company is demanding so much compensation from me, why do you have to ruin me like this!"
Evelyn broke down in tears: "You've driven me to a dead end, I have no way out! My husband is divorcing me! I can't even get custody of my daughter! You all have driven me to the brink!"
"Terminating the partnership with Horizon Enterprise is partly because of you, but not entirely." Raymond explained coldly: "Horizon Enterprise has been cutting corners and making huge profits. I've wanted to replace them for a long time. Now that a better partner has come along, it's only reasonable to switch. Blame your company for being too greedy, thinking I am a fool?"
Evelyn trembled upon hearing this.
Indeed, their company had switched to cheaper sources, cutting corners.
The partnership had always been stable, and she thought the Hughes Group had let their guard down and wouldn't notice.
But after the incident with Margaret, Raymond suddenly refused to sign the contract, and the goods were returned.
That batch of goods couldn't be returned to the manufacturer because the price was too low, leaving Horizon Enterprise stuck with billions of dollars worth of merchandise on the brink of bankruptcy.
Evelyn suddenly realized, eyes wide open, questioning. "So, even if Margaret spoke well of me, you would still terminate the partnership? You knew all along, didn't you?"
"You're not entirely stupid." Raymond mocked disdainfully.
Margaret finally understood what was going on.
Her arm, hanging from the dead tree, had long since gone numb.
She smiled bitterly. "Now do you believe it? Raymond won't change any decision because of me."
"What does the problem with this batch of goods have to do with me? Why should I compensate? Are you playing me? These past few days I've been delivering things and begging people everywhere, Do you think I'm a fool? Think I have no temper?" Evelyn cursed angrily.
Evelyn picked up the machete on the ground and started chopping the tree. "Die! All of you die! None of you are allowed to live!"
If she couldn't live, then no one else should!
The dead tree was being chopped with loud thuds.
The branch Margaret was hanging from was already on the verge of breaking.
"Stop!" Raymond rushed over in a flash.
He wrapped his arms around Evelyn's waist.
Evelyn was tightly restrained.
The machete in her hand was being pulled by Raymond with all his might.
He wanted to take the machete from her hand.
"Die! Die!" Evelyn stabbed down.
The blade instantly pierced Raymond's palm, and blood gushed from his palm.
Raymond still didn't let go of the blade. Enduring the pain, he grunted and snatched the machete from her hand, throwing it into the valley.
"My machete!" Evelyn raged, struggling to pull out the lighter from her pocket.
She wanted to ignite the explosives strapped to her body and die with Raymond.
Raymond tried to grab the lighter from her hand.
At this moment, the lighter was ignited, and yellow-blue flames instantly leaped out.
Margaret watched the struggle between the two nervously.
Seeing the lighter getting closer to the fuse of the explosives, Raymond's bleeding hand suddenly covered the flame of the lighter.
The scorching heat made cold sweat break out on Raymond's forehead.
"Let go!" Evelyn roared, even biting Raymond's hand.
Raymond kicked Evelyn away.
Evelyn fell to the ground like a ball.
The lighter also fell into the snow.
Evelyn tried to grab the lighter.
But Raymond got there first and kicked it into the valley.
Evelyn, furious, raised her hand to slap Raymond, but Raymond precisely restrained her wrist and twisted it behind her back.
Her arm was dislocated, and both arms were twisted together, causing Evelyn to grimace in pain and curse.
There was a several-foot-long rope on the ground, probably the one Evelyn used to tie up Margaret.
Raymond picked it up and tied her wrists behind her back tightly with the rope.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Raymond's steps were a bit unsteady, but he still managed to pull out his phone and call Alvin. "Come to the mountaintop to rescue us!"
"Yes, Mr. Howard," Alvin said on the phone.
Raymond hung up, his fingers holding the phone covered in blood, dripping onto the thick snow.
Raymond opened his palm, the machete wound was deep, the bone visible.
Cold sweat kept breaking out on his forehead, and Raymond's vision blurred.
He couldn't collapse; he had to wait for Alvin to come and rescue Margaret before he could collapse.
Suddenly, the dead tree branch suddenly broke, and Margaret fell from the dead tree branch.
"Haha, Raymond, you didn't expect this! She still has to die. " Evelyn, lying on the ground with her hands and feet bound, laughed excitedly.
