Chapter 314 Let's Destroy Together
Margaret suddenly opened her eyes.
She felt a splash of foul-smelling water hit her entire body.
Her arm hurt, and it was sore.
Margaret looked up and realized that her hands were tied, and the rope binding her wrists was wrapped around a dead tree branch.
She looked down again, seeing the abyss below the cliff was bottomless.
Margaret felt a wave of dizziness, because he had a fear of heights.
She remembered receiving a call about a package, and then she passed out.
When she woke up, she was there.
The back of Margaret's head hurt; she still hadn't figured out what had happened.
The rough sound pierced Margaret's eardrums.
She followed the sound.
She saw a woman holding a machete, chopping at the dead tree that was holding her up!
"What are you doing?" Margaret couldn't see her face; the woman had her back to Margaret.
Margaret's voice trembled slightly, probably because of her fear of heights and extreme fear.
Evelyn turned around, stood up straight, and glared at Margaret with a sinister look.
Margaret recognized her. Wasn't this the Evelyn who had pleaded with her a few days ago? Why did Evelyn's eyes look so sharp and venomous?
"What am I doing? Are you blind? Of course, I want you dead! You wicked woman, living in this world is just a waste of air! Polluting the land!" Evelyn cursed.
"What are you talking about? I don't understand." Margaret frowned.
Evelyn gritted her teeth: "Stop pretending! I've seen plenty of people like you! Just because I mocked you a few times, you hold a grudge and set me up behind my back! Because of your call, Raymond completely terminated his cooperation with Horizon Enterprise! I'm getting a divorce! I'll never see my daughter again! And I have to pay back so much money. Aren't you pushing me to a dead end?"
"What call? I don't know what you're talking about." The more Margaret listened, the more confused she became.
Evelyn didn't doubt her at all, just thought she was lying, and sneered. "You can pretend all you want, but you're going to die anyway! If I can't live, I'll drag you down with me! I've already called Raymond. Guess what, will he get here faster, or will I chop down this tree faster? Whether you see him one last time depends on your luck!"
"Raymond made it impossible for me to live, so I'll make him lose the woman he loves the most!"
Margaret finally understood. Evelyn had lost the negotiation, lost her job, lost her family, and was driven to this desperate situation.
She wanted to use her to get back at Raymond.
But was she really the woman Raymond loved the most? Besides, she was already close to death.
Was this fate's arrangement? Or were her parents coming to take her away because they saw how hard her life was?
Thinking of this, Margaret couldn't help but chuckle.
Evelyn heard it and felt provoked. "You're about to die, and you can still laugh? I guess you don't believe you'll die."
"I'm laughing because you completely missed the point. I don't know why you think Raymond terminated the cooperation because of a call from me. But I can swear, I never made that call. Using me to get back at Raymond is a joke." Margaret smiled bitterly.
Her arms were so sore from being suspended.
Margaret felt her whole body was heavy, and the dead tree could break at any moment because of her weight.
"You think I'll believe your lies?"
"Believe it or not, it doesn't matter. I just want to tell you, I, have never been the woman Raymond loves the most. I can't stop him from making any decisions. The person he loves is Sarah. Kidnapping Sarah would be more effective than kidnapping me. You're stupid, and that's innate; I don't blame you."
"You want to die, don't you? Who are you calling stupid?" Evelyn glared at her and cursed.
Margaret curled her lips. "Of course, I'm stupid too. Otherwise, I wouldn't have loved the wrong person and ended up like this."
Sighing, Margaret's calm gaze fell on Evelyn, and she slowly spoke, "Before you kidnapped me, did you investigate? Do you know my relationship with Raymond? Yes, I'm his wife, but I'm also his enemy."
"What?"
"Raymond's parents died early because of my father. I'm the daughter of his enemy. Do you think if you kidnap me, he might even thank you for doing it?"
Evelyn was completely stunned by this.
Why was Margaret's story so different from what Sarah had told her? Who was telling the truth?
If Margaret was really Raymond's enemy, wasn't she helping Raymond get rid of his enemy?
"No, I won't believe your made-up story! Raymond loves you, you're lying! You just don't want to die!" Evelyn shook her head, muttering.
Margaret looked at her and suddenly smiled, like a wilting lily, lifeless. "With or without you, I will die. Because I have cancer, and it's in the late stage. Everything I said is true, believe it or not."
"Raymond won't come for me. He'll think what you're doing now is utterly boring. So, you made a mistake. I'll never have the chance to be a mother. I just heard you say you have a lovely daughter, only three years old. Can you really bear to lose the chance to be with your daughter because of someone who is already dying? You're not a bad person; you're just driven to desperation by life. It's not too late to regret now." Margaret sighed and advised.
Evelyn was moved by her words, realizing she had a three-year-old daughter.
She still loved her husband very much. If she killed Margaret, she would never see her daughter again.
It didn't seem worth it to lose her life over a cancer-stricken Margaret.
But she had already come this far.
"No, that's not right. What you said is wrong. I've come this far, and Raymond has pushed me to the brink. There's no turning back. Whether you die today or not, I'm finished. This is kidnapping; I'm already done for." Evelyn's body trembled as she broke down. "I have no other choice. It's all because of you."
Evelyn wiped her tears and started chopping the tree frantically: "Die, let's all die, let's destroy each other and go to hell together! You have cancer anyway, you're going to die! Cancer is very torturous, dying with you, accompanying you, isn't so bad!"
"Stop!" A man's clear and cold voice suddenly rang out.
Margaret's eyelids twitched sharply, and she looked over.
