Chapter 596 Having You, I Am Truly Lucky
She seemed to be deliberately opposing him. Whatever he wanted to eat, she would grab it first and leisurely eat it right in front of him.
In the end, all he could do was watch her eat.
Lyric looked at him knowingly and asked, "Mr. Taylor, why aren't you eating? Is the food not to your liking? Our hotel's head chef prepared it."
"Ms. Vaughn, watching you eat is a feast for the eyes," Daniel replied with a bright, clean smile.
If it weren't for all the past drama, she might have felt her heart flutter seeing him smile at her like that.
But now, she felt nothing.
Despite the spread of dishes, she had no appetite. She put down her utensils and said coldly, "Mr. Taylor, your face is enough to make me lose my appetite. I'm done."
Daniel's eyes showed a hint of sadness at her words.
He had searched for her for so long, and she had nothing to say to him.
She was so cold, even saying his appearance made her sick.
It wasn't like this before.
Seeing her get up to leave, he stood up first and blocked her way. "Della."
"My name isn't Della," Lyric said impatiently, holding her cat.
Daniel, with his usual good temper, corrected himself, "Lyric—"
But Lyric thought he still saw her as a replacement for Margaret and laughed angrily. "Daniel, haven't you had enough of treating me as a substitute? Are you done yet? Did you come all this way just to disgust me?"
He wanted to explain that he genuinely missed her and now truly liked her.
But she didn't want to hear it and cut him off before he could speak. "Daniel, there's no need for us to drag this out with unnecessary words. Whatever your purpose for coming here, I'm not interested. Go back to where you came from."
"Lyric, I really want to marry you. Ever since you left without a word, I've been looking for you. Even if you weren't Mr. Vaughn's daughter, even if you were the Della you claim to be, I would still find you and marry you," Daniel said earnestly. "That day when you were on the phone with Mireille, I knew it was her calling you. Do you know why I didn't say anything?"
It was because he didn't want to make things difficult for her.
He had waited for her call all night.
Before Daniel could finish, Lyric interrupted coldly, "I don't want to know. Mr. Taylor, let's be straightforward. If you're approaching me because you think my family can help you, then forget it. That won't work."
"That's not my intention."
"Good. Whether you love me or not, I don't love you anymore. So please leave Regal City and go back to Silverbrook. You can blame the failure of this date on me." With that, Lyric pushed him away coldly.
She walked out of the private room in her high heels.
Daniel stood there, never expecting such an outcome from a date.
His phone rang. Seeing it was Raymond, he thought it might be important and answered.
Before he could speak, Raymond said, "Daniel, I got some good news and some bad news. Which one you wanna hear first?"
Daniel, in no mood for jokes, replied, "If it's not important, I'm hanging up."
"Alright, alright, I'll cut to the chase. The good news is, I remembered something."
"What did you remember?" Daniel asked as he walked out of the private room.
Raymond said, "I remembered who Della is. Daniel, you really messed up this time, you know that?"
Daniel stayed silent as he entered the elevator.
Raymond continued teasingly, "Della, who is actually Lyric, is the daughter of Zephyr, the richest man in Regal City and the world. I knew she looked familiar. A few years ago, Della attended a global event with Zephyr, and I happened to be there. She came over while I was talking to Zephyr."
"Surprised? Shocked? Della's family is that powerful."
"Daniel, why aren't you saying anything? You know the bad news, right? Zephyr dotes on his daughter. If he finds out what you did to Della, you and the entire Taylor Family are doomed. I told you to take this seriously. You had such a great opportunity, and you blew it. Della has never been in the media, so it's no wonder you couldn't find her."
Daniel remained silent.
Raymond, curious, asked, "Daniel, why aren't you saying anything? Are you unsure whether to be sad or excited? I'm really curious. How do you feel knowing this? Like it's the end of the world?"
The elevator doors opened.
Daniel walked out, holding his phone, and said with a cold smile, "Having an unreliable friend like you is really my good luck."
"Did you meet Della?"
"Just had dinner with her."
"How did it go?" Raymond asked, gossiping.
Daniel sighed, "Didn't get to eat anything."
"And then?"
"Then she told me to go back to where I came from. I'm not worthy of dating her."
"Well, she's not wrong. Your status doesn't match hers. If I were Della, I wouldn't just send you back. I'd bankrupt the Taylor Group to teach you a lesson. The Vaughn Family still treated you well, which means she didn't tell her parents what you did to hurt her."
Raymond finished his analysis and asked, "So when are you coming back?"
"I'm not planning to. Call Walter and tell him to handle the Taylor Group for now. I'll treat him to dinner when I get back."
"Walter doesn't need your dinner. Don't act like it's a big deal." Raymond asked, "Have you thought it through? Are you staying there to fight for Della? She's not Margaret. She won't fall for your tricks. Don't end up losing her and ruining the Taylor Family and yourself. Angering her won't do you any good."
Daniel knew Raymond was looking out for him.
But he was determined. "I've thought it through. If I can't win Lyric back, I won't return. Don't worry about me. I'm lucky. Winning her back is just a matter of time."
