Chapter 158 Can't Wait Any Longer

The master bedroom was still dead silent.

Raymond glanced at his watch; it was already nine. He couldn't wait any longer.

If he waited any longer, the food would get cold and taste awful.

With that thought, his fingers, sharp and defined, landed on the doorknob.

To his surprise, the door was unlocked!

With a gentle twist, it swung open.

He stepped inside and looked at the bed; it was empty!

He scanned the room again, still no one!

Raymond's eyelid twitched, and he yanked open the wardrobe door.

The suitcase was still there, but the black backpack and her thermos were gone!

She left?! When did Margaret leave?

Raymond felt a wave of panic and quickly pulled out his phone to call Margaret.

But he couldn't get through.

"Where did you go?"

Suppressing his shock and anger, he shot her a message on WhatsApp.

Since last night, she hadn't replied to any of his messages.

How much did she hate him to not reply at all?

Raymond left the suite and took the elevator to the front desk.

He borrowed the public phone and dialed Margaret's number.

"Hello, the number you have dialed is currently switched off."

She turned off her phone!

How dare she!

Raymond remembered the last time she secretly went to the hospital for an abortion. He called, and she didn't answer. He sent messages, and she didn't reply. He was just as worried and panicked.

He forced himself to calm down and asked the receptionist, "Did you see my wife leave?"

"The lady who was staying with you?" The receptionist looked puzzled.

He nodded. "That's right."

The receptionist thought for a moment and said, "Oh, she left just after six this morning. I was just coming on duty and saw her take a taxi. But I don't know where she went exactly. You don't know where your wife went?"

"Thank you," Raymond said and walked out of the hotel.

So she left!

She left just after six in the morning!

Raymond remembered how she'd dragged her feet about this trip, even complaining the whole way.

So she hadn't been replying to messages or answering calls because she wanted to sneak away!

Raymond's first thought was that she had gone back to Silverbrook because she had no friends, and Marlon was there, someone she cared about!

He had to get back quickly!

Raymond called Alvin and said into the phone, "Drop everything and arrange a private jet to pick me up!"

"Mr. Howard, aren't you supposed to be on a trip with Mrs. Howard in Silverwood?"

"Just do as I say. Also, check the Hughes Manor and my apartment to see if Mrs. Howard is there."

Alvin understood from his tone that Margaret had run back.

"Yes, Mr. Howard, I'll handle it right away." Alvin respectfully hung up the phone.

Alvin had thought that this trip might help Margaret and Raymond reconcile.

He didn't expect their conflict to worsen!

He'd dropped everything to make her happy, and this was how she repaid him?

His anger burned intensely.

How dare she treat him like this?

Had he been too indulgent with her? Had he spoiled her?

He punched a dry tree trunk, and his skin immediately split open, blood dripping down, shockingly vivid.

Two hours later.

The private jet landed in front of Raymond.

Alvin stepped off the plane and noticed the wound on Raymond's hand, frowning.

Luckily, there was a first aid kit on board.

Alvin had some medical training, so he knew a bit about bandaging.

"Mr. Howard, did you and Mrs. Howard have another argument?" Alvin asked cautiously, watching Raymond's expression.

Raymond shot him a look that could kill and instead of answering, he asked, "Did Mrs. Howard go back?"

"No one was at the Hughes Manor. I sent Mary to check your apartment, but she hasn't reported back." Alvin replied.

Raymond's face darkened.

Just as they were about to take off, Raymond's phone rang in his pocket.

"Mr. Howard, Mrs. Howard is calling!" Alvin said excitedly.

Raymond's heart sank. Was it really her?

Did she run away and then regret?

But when he pulled out his phone and saw the caller ID, his eyes grew even colder.

It wasn't Margaret. It was Sarah.

Even though he didn't know why Sarah was calling, he felt guilty towards her.

He couldn't keep his promise to marry Sarah.

Suppressing his anger, he answered the call gently, "Sarah, what's wrong?"

"Raymond, save me!" Sarah's voice was filled with pain and sobs.

"Where are you?!" Raymond's face changed dramatically.

Sarah cried and gave her address before the call abruptly cut off.

Raymond instructed the pilot to head to the location Sarah had given.

Since it wasn't a densely populated area, it was perfect for the plane to land.

But Alvin had a different opinion, saying, "Mr. Howard, I don't think you need to worry about Ms. Martinez. The person you should be concerned about is Mrs. Howard. If Mrs. Howard finds out you're going to see her, she'll cause a scene. Why don't you go back first, and we can call the police?"

Raymond frowned.

"The timing of Ms. Martinez's call is too coincidental. Just as you're about to leave, she has an incident. It's very likely that this is a scheme she came up with," Alvin said, pursing his lips.

He thought about Margaret's coldness, her leaving him on his own, and how Sarah had supported him, even giving him a million dollars.

Without Sarah, he wouldn't be where he was today!

He had already broken his promise to marry her; he couldn't leave now. If something really happened to Sarah, he would carry this guilt for life!

"Go find Ms. Martinez!"

"Mr. Howard, please reconsider!" Alvin tried to persuade him, "Mrs. Howard is pregnant now and already prone to suspicion."

But Raymond said in a resolute tone, "Just do as I say. Besides, with you all around, I'm not afraid of her suspecting me."

The plane slowly ascended into the sky.

Raymond watched as the buildings on the ground grew smaller.

Although he was going to find Sarah, his mind was filled with thoughts of Margaret, and he was worried about her.

Where did Margaret go?

Did she go back to Silverbrook?

Ten minutes later.

The plane landed in front of a lake.

The grass was covered in blood.

Raymond got off the plane and walked quickly.

He immediately saw Sarah lying on the ground and hurried over.

He held Sarah in his arms; her clothes were soaked in blood, horrifyingly so. The most terrifying part was her face, covered in knife wounds, crisscrossing, with bones clearly visible!
