Chapter 330 I'm Just Afraid You'll Catch a Cold

At an abandoned factory in Everpeak Mountain City, it is now four in the morning.

The factory was dimly lit, and there was only one dim hanging lamp.

Hubert was being punched and kicked by a group of bodyguards, like a sandbag.

Hubert was in excruciating pain, his teeth mixed with blood, constantly falling out.

Raymond smokes a cigarette, sitting on a chair, his eyes filled with a bone-chilling coldness, watching everything indifferently.

Alvin steps on Hubert's hand, grinding it hard, "Mr. Diaz, you still won't tell the truth, will you? Mr. Howard's patience has its limits!"

"I don't know what to say! Ouch, I really didn't expect Mrs. Howard is in the late stages of liver cancer. If I had known, I wouldn't have dared to lie! Mr. Howard has been kind to me, without Mr. Howard, I wouldn't be where I am today, how could I dare to hide the truth?" Hubert howls in pain, betting that Raymond didn't have enough evidence, otherwise, Raymond would have sent him to jail directly instead of abusing him here.

As long as he insisted he didn't know, Raymond couldn't do anything to him.

Raymond's face grows colder.

Alvin caught Raymond's impatience, and gave a look to one of the bodyguards, who understood and grabbed Hubert's arm, with a crack.

The arm was broken.

"Hubert, I advise you to tell the truth, what? You have lost your right hand, and you don't want your left hand either?" Alvin grabs Hubert's head and slams it onto the ground.

Hubert's forehead instantly bleeds profusely, with sticky blood oozing continuously from the wound and covering his face.

"I'll talk, I'll say everything!" If he didn't talk now, he might not make it out alive today.

Sarah was pregnant with his child, he couldn't die and had to go back and marry her.

"Let him go." Raymond sneers coldly.

After being released, Hubert crawled to the chair where Raymond was sitting.

With every crawl, blood stained a spot on the ground.

His arm was broken by Raymond's men, he was in unbearable pain, his fingers stretched out, trembling, trying to grab Raymond's straight pant leg.

But when Raymond kicks him away, he flies several feet through the air.

Hubert lay on the ground, in so much pain that he couldn't get up.

With a look from Alvin, several bodyguards dragged Hubert back in front of Raymond, "Speak up!"

"I'll talk, I'll say everything!" Hubert's eyes were blurred by the blood flowing from his forehead, gasping for breath, "Mr. Howard, I really didn't know about Mrs. Howard's condition."

"Wasn't it you who did Margaret's medical report?" Alvin sneers.

Hubert shakes his head, lying through his teeth, "Of course not! It's my fault, at that time I had a patient who suddenly needed me, so I handed over the task of testing Mrs. Howard's samples to my assistant. I trust him very much, he's honest and never lies. So I let him handle Mrs. Howard's medical and pregnancy tests. I even wanted to recommend him to you. Luckily I didn't, otherwise, my sin would be even greater."

Hubert frantically kowtows, admitting his mistake, "Mr. Howard, I am guilty, I trusted him wrongly, if it weren't for Mrs. Howard's illness, I would still be deceived!"

"Mr. Howard, you have been so kind to me. Back then, I couldn't find a job, my wife was going to leave with my son and divorce me, it was you who took me in and allowed me to follow you. Mr. Howard, my life is yours, how could I dare, how could I dare to harm Mrs. Howard?"

"Mrs. Howard and I have no enmity, I have no motive to harm her! Mr. Howard, I will give you an explanation for this! You can hit me, scold me! I won't take it to heart, just don't harm your health."

Raymond squinted, as if judging whether he was telling the truth or lying.

"What? You didn't want to talk just now, and now you do?" Alvin sneered.

Hubert said, "I was afraid Mr. Howard would be angry, I didn't dare to say. Mr. Howard, believe me. Give me a chance to make amends."

Raymond glanced at him coldly, "I will investigate what you said. You know the consequences of lying to me."

"Thank you, Mr. Howard, for your trust." Hubert breathed a sigh of relief, kowtowing to the ground.

Raymond said coldly, "The person you wronged is not me."

"I am willing to go and apologize to Mrs. Howard! Mr. Howard, I am willing to seek Mrs. Howard's forgiveness!"

At the ward of Everpeak Mountain City, Margaret couldn't sleep, so she stood by the window.

She opened the window, the cold wind outside blowing her long hair wildly.

The big tree in front of the window, its branches already covered with a layer of icy, thick white snow.

The road was also sparsely populated, with only a few lonely street lamps dotting the desolate street.

Margaret couldn't sleep, so she listened to the sound of the snow all night.

The snow fell lightly on the treetops, on the ground, without a sound.

Raymond hadn't returned since he went to answer Sarah's call. He must have gone to find Sarah.

That was good, her world was finally quiet, just as she wanted.

The two of them, torturing each other like this, was quite meaningless.

At this moment, the door of the ward opened, and the lights in the ward also came on.

Margaret didn't turn around, thinking it was the nurse doing rounds.

Raymond walked in, seeing Margaret standing by the window, her figure thin and frail, his heart tightened.

"Get in there!" Alvin's voice came, and he pushed Hubert in.

Margaret heard the sound and slowly turned around.

Raymond had already come to her, his body leaning forward, a cold fragrance wafting into Margaret's nose.

He didn't have Sarah's perfume scent on him.

Margaret thought, 'He doesn't go to find Sarah?'

Whether he did or not, she didn't care anymore.

"Raymond, what are you doing?" Margaret frowned in displeasure, thinking he was going to do something to her.

Raymond ignored her, his body continued to lean forward, his arm reaching behind her.

Margaret laughed angrily, and then she slapped Raymond's face, "You're so despicable?"

Only knowing how to force her, disregarding her will.

This slap shocked everyone, including Alvin, Raymond, and Hubert.

With a click, a crisp sound comes from behind Margaret.

Margaret turned around and saw the window being closed by his bandaged hand.

Only then did she realize she misunderstood him, she turned back, pursing her lips.

"I was just afraid you'd catch a cold from the wind, so I closed the window for you, that's all," Raymond explained in a complex tone, his throat sore.
