Chapter 535 Wedding Invitation
Margaret wasn't too keen on getting married when it was scorching hot outside.
So, they planned everything well in advance.
Raymond was all in, clearing his work schedule to join her for their overseas wedding photoshoot.
This time, Margaret noticed a real change in him. The last time they took wedding photos, he was grumpy and had a sour look on his face.
When the photographer asked him to smile, he just shrugged and said he wasn't the smiling type.
When a man loved his partner, he couldn't conceal it.
Even in the exotic streets abroad, he was like a victorious general coming home, lifting her up excitedly for the photographer to capture.
This photoshoot went off without a hitch.
The photographer showed the finished photos to Margaret.
Raymond wrapped his arm around her waist, looking at the photos with her, and said, "Babe, you look stunning."
Suddenly, light snow began to fall.
They walked hand in hand.
Feeling the warmth of each other's touch, they watched as the large trees lining the street donned their white winter coats.
People bustled about.
There was even a street musician, playing guitar and singing.
Margaret and Raymond walked over. Margaret noticed how cold it was, yet the musician was still performing on the street, clearly having a tough time.
She took out her wallet and placed all the bills from it into his bowl.
The street musician gratefully clasped his hands together, bowing slightly and sincerely thanking them repeatedly. Upon learning that Margaret and Raymond were a soon-to-be-married couple, he offered to sing them a song.
The song was aptly named Marry You.
The musician's voice had a metallic quality, and as his fingers strummed the guitar strings, the pleasant music attracted more onlookers.
Everyone clapped and wished Margaret and Raymond eternal happiness.
They walked back to the hotel.
Raymond unbuttoned his black coat, opening it wide, and pulled Margaret close to him. The large coat shielded them from most of the cold air and light snow.
Snowflakes settled on their hair, shoulders, and clothes.
His breath was very close to her.
"I want to invite Daniel to our wedding," Margaret tentatively mentioned.
Raymond didn't respond.
He was taller than her, so she had to look up slightly to see his face. She thought he might be jealous or upset, and after a moment, she added, "If you don't want him there, we won't invite him."
"Would you be happy if he came?" Raymond asked, holding her close.
Margaret thought for a moment and nodded, "Yes."
"Then let's invite him. He's helped us a lot; it's only right to invite him."
Three days later, they returned to Silverbrook.
Margaret met Daniel at a café.
The temperature in Silverbrook was vastly different from abroad; this season was perfect for wearing light shirts.
Daniel was dressed in business attire, looking more mature and confident. He held his coffee cup, stirring the steaming coffee with a spoon.
Since sitting down, he had been seriously observing Margaret for a long time. After a while, he smiled politely, "I can see you have been doing well. You look great."
It seemed his decision to part ways was the right one.
She could only truly blossom by Raymond's side.
If you loved someone, you wouldn't let your partner feel sad or hurt.
"Mr. Taylor, how have you been?" Margaret was dressed casually today. She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her eyes brimming with happiness.
Women nourished by happiness always radiated with a luminous glow.
Daniel took a sip of his coffee, "Same old, same old. Not great, not terrible. So, what brings you here, Margaret?"
Margaret opened her handbag, took out an invitation, and slid it across the table to him. "Make sure you come next Wednesday."
The information on the invitation hit Daniel like a ton of bricks.
His heart skipped a beat; he seemed to realize something but wasn't ready to accept it.
With Margaret sitting right there, he opened the invitation with trembling fingers.
The invitation featured a wedding photo of Margaret and Raymond, standing together, looking perfectly matched.
Most importantly, Margaret was smiling in the photo, a smile he had never seen before.
Below the photo were the wedding location and time.
Daniel's emotions were in turmoil.
But he stayed composed, closed the invitation, and looked at her, "Raymond probably doesn't want me there, right?"
"He knows. You've helped us a lot, and we want to share our happiness with you. Who knows, you might meet your special someone at the wedding."
With that said, Daniel couldn't find a way to refuse.
Margaret's request was something he couldn't turn down.
"Alright. I'll be there on time."
Seeing her get married was an honor for him.
Planning a wedding was busy work and required help.
They could have hired someone to decorate the wedding venue, but Raymond insisted on doing it himself, saying he didn't want to rely on others.
Alvin and his wife also came to help.
Some were inflating balloons, others were putting up window decorations.
It was lively.
The doorbell rang.
Margaret quickly put down the balloon she was holding and ran to open the door.
Soon, Daniel arrived. He glanced around the room and joked, "It's really lively here. I thought I was early."
"Mr. Taylor, what a rare guest." Alvin was putting up window decorations with his wife. Hearing the voice, he turned to look at Daniel, "Come over and help, quickly."
Margaret was surprised to see Daniel. She thought he would come directly to the wedding, not expecting him to come early and help out.
"You didn't have to come so early. It's too much trouble for you," Margaret said, biting her lip.
Daniel smiled, "Knowing you, Margaret, it's only right to help out. I can't just come to your wedding and not lend a hand."
"Don't say that. As Margaret's good friend, you should give a big gift," Raymond chimed in, walking over.
By calling him Margaret's good friend, Raymond had defined their relationship. From now on, they were just friends.
Daniel was happy to be that good friend.
"What? Mr. Howard doesn't want me here? If you don't want me, I'll leave."
"You're welcome here. We were worried you wouldn't come," Raymond said, putting his arm around Daniel's shoulder and walking outside.
Raymond went downstairs to smoke, the cigarette in his fingers emitting white smoke.
"Give me one too."
"I thought you didn't smoke? When did you pick up the habit?" Raymond said, but still handed him a cigarette.
Daniel smoked with practiced ease, looking quite handsome. After a few puffs, he looked at Raymond, "Margaret is pregnant. You should quit smoking. You can start again after the baby is born."
He added, "Raymond, I gave Margaret to you. You better treat her and the baby well. Don't make me regret my decision."
