Chapter 258 Only One of You and Margaret Can Survive

The next day, Marlon wrote something in Margaret's palm after breakfast. Margaret understood immediately that Marlon wanted to go out for some fresh air.

Margaret noticed that the snow had stopped, and the sun was shining brightly, casting a golden glow on the still snow-covered landscape.

Thinking it was rare to have such good sunlight, Margaret pushed Marlon's wheelchair and took him out of the Hughes Manor.

Marlon felt the liveliness of the pedestrians on the street and saw the budding trees along the road.

Marlon's attention was caught by a coffee shop. Margaret knew this was Marlon's favorite coffee shop.

She pushed Marlon inside and ordered him a cup of coffee. Suddenly, Margaret's liver started to hurt; she knew she was having an attack!

But she didn't dare to show it in front of Marlon. He would go crazy if he saw it.

"Dad, I'm going to the restroom. Wait here for me, okay?"

Marlon nodded.

Margaret asked the front desk for the location of the public restroom and then jogged out of the coffee shop.

Dressed fashionably, Sarah walked into the coffee shop, ordered Raymond's favorite coffee, and then called Raymond. "Raymond, I'm coming to see you. I bought your favorite coffee from your favorite coffee shop."

Marlon's ears were sharp. Although his back was to Sarah, he turned his head when he heard Raymond's name and saw Sarah at the counter.

Marlon knew Sarah, who used to be very close to Margaret, often visiting their home. She even recognized him and Nancy as godparents.

Marlon had heard Nancy mention that Sarah and Raymond were very close, with no boundaries.

Thinking of this, Marlon frowned and clenched his fists.

Sarah didn't notice Marlon at all. She was seriously talking to Raymond on the phone. She thought that after disfiguring herself for Raymond, he would treat her better.

But after all this time, he hadn't shown up or contacted her.

She couldn't wait any longer. She was afraid that if this continued, Raymond would completely forget about her!

So she decided to take the initiative and greet Raymond.

Unexpectedly, Raymond didn't give her any face on the phone. "I'm not at the Hughes Group."

Indeed, he just didn't want to see Sarah. He used to be able to firmly reject Sarah's feelings, but now, after she disfigured herself for him and developed depression, if he spoke harshly, she would have another episode.

So he couldn't afford to provoke Sarah and chose to avoid her.

"Then I'll come to your house to find you," Sarah said coquettishly.

Raymond coldly refused on the phone. "I'm on a business trip."

"But I..."

Raymond seemed to guess what she was going to say next and cut her off. "You have depression and facial injuries. You should be resting in the hospital and letting Mr. Diaz treat your face."

Before Sarah could speak, Raymond used the excuse of being busy to hang up on her.

Sarah was furious, wondering why Raymond was so unaffected by any of her tactics.

She was now his lifesaver, and he didn't give her any face at all?

"Miss, your two coffees are ready," The server said, handing the packed coffees to Sarah, who took them angrily.

Hearing some sound, Sarah looked over.

She saw Marlon sitting in his wheelchair, making strange noises at her.

Sarah was even angrier, thinking Marlon was mocking her.

Her face was burned, but Marlon woke up. She had tried to harm him several times, but he was still alive and well!

Sarah's eyes glinted with calculation. She took the two coffees, walked over in her high heels, and sat opposite Marlon, greeting him politely. "Mr. Hughes, you're awake. That's great. I'm really happy for you."

Hearing Sarah's voice, Marlon instantly remembered the night in the hospital when a woman in a red dress held a fruit knife and tried to kill him.

Marlon seemed to be triggered and started making strange noises.

The server looked over curiously. "Is he okay?"

"He's fine. He's my godfather; he can't speak," Sarah quickly explained with a smile. Then she leaned closer to Marlon. "Mr. Hughes, calm down. Don't scare the server. Luckily, we met today."

Sarah glanced at the coffee in her hand and smiled, speaking in a voice only the two of them could hear. "Did you hear me talking to Raymond just now? It's normal. Margaret knows too. I not only bring him coffee, but I've also slept with him, and not just once. Raymond told me that Margaret is like a puppet in sex, and he thinks it's extremely boring."

Sarah intended to anger Marlon to death. She took out her phone, found an electronic wedding photo, and showed it to Marlon. "Look, this is our wedding photos. Don't we look perfect together? Raymond told me he would marry me sooner or later."

Marlon clenched his fists in anger, his lips trembling, his emotions becoming agitated.

Sarah chuckled softly. "Mr. Hughes, Calm down. Let me tell you a secret. Do you want to know why Raymond hates you and Margaret so much?"

Marlon instantly quieted down, because he desperately wanted to know.

"Ten years ago, you hit someone with your car. That person died in a fire shortly after. Do you remember?" Sarah whispered in his ear.

Marlon's eyes widened, and he froze in place.

Ten years ago on a rainy night, he and his driver Percy were driving to a hotel when suddenly a figure appeared in the middle of the road, causing Percy to not see clearly and hit the person.

When they got out of the car, the person limped away.

"Judging by your expression, you should remember. Raymond is the son of the man you hit. His parents died in a fire afterward. Do you think he would let you go? Would he let the Hughes Family or Margaret go?" Sarah smiled.

Hearing that, Marlon was stunned. This was the only mistake he had made in his life, one he wanted to make up for but couldn't.

It turned out that Raymond's torment of Margaret started because he hit his father and fled.

"Mr. Hughes, you're smart. You should know that Raymond is vengeful. Your existence is a curse. Margaret will always be threatened and tormented by Raymond because of you! If I were you, I wouldn't drag Margaret down. Without you, she would live better and longer." Sarah smiled and whispered, "Raymond told me that only one of you can live. Think carefully, do you want Margaret to live, or do you want to live?"
