Chapter 611 Daniel is Still Waiting for Her at the Hotel
In a moment of desperation, she completely gave in, pouting playfully.
Daniel cupped her cheeks tightly and planted a firm kiss on her flushed face.
"Daniel, why'd you kiss me again?" Lyric complained, frowning.
He let go of her cheeks and reached out to straighten her clothes, his eyes brimming with joy and excitement. "Lyric, I'm falling for you more and more. What should I do?"
"You should find another hotel. You can't stay at the previous one anymore. My dad won't let you continue staying there," she said coldly.
He nodded obediently. "Okay. Give me your phone."
"What do you want to do?"
"Just give it to me."
Confused, she took out her phone and handed it to him. He took it, pointed it at her face to unlock it with facial recognition, and logged into WhatsApp. She watched as he removed himself from her blocked list and unblocked his phone number.
He handed the phone back to her. "I'll send you the address of the new hotel once I get there. Lyric, will you come see me tomorrow?"
"We'll see. I have to go now. If I get back too late, I'll really get caught," Lyric complained.
Daniel reluctantly caressed her burning, flushed cheeks. "I'll be waiting for you at the hotel."
"I'm not coming."
She pushed open the car door, got out, and closed it behind her. She turned and trudged through the biting snowstorm toward the villa, her face unable to hide a smile, her heart feeling sweet.
He said he was falling for her more and more. And wasn't she feeling the same?
Even after a long time apart, truly liking someone meant the heart would always flutter upon meeting again.
She had to admit, the priest Remy found was right. She and Daniel were destined to be together.
She returned home, full of joy. As soon as she stepped inside, she heard a stern voice: "Stop right there!"
Lyric jumped, her whole body trembling. She realized that all the lights, which had been off, were now on.
Zephyr sat on the couch, his face dark and disappointed, glaring at her.
She awkwardly pursed her lips. "Dad, it's so late. Why are you up again?"
"If I hadn't gotten up, would I have seen you sneaking out to meet him? I don't even know what to say to you!" Zephyr pointed at her, his voice trembling with anger.
Lyric said, "Then don't say anything. I don't want to hear it."
"Lyric, what's wrong with you? When your dad and I approved of Daniel, you refused. Now that we disapprove, you insist on being with him. Are you doing this just to spite us?" Remy chimed in, displeased. "After everything he did to you, you're still with him? Have you lost your mind?"
Lyric didn't like hearing that. "Mom, how can you say that about your savior? Who said that a life-saving grace must be repaid?"
"I—I'm just trying to speak for you. Why are you turning my words against me?" Remy was momentarily speechless.
Zephyr stood up from the couch, walked over to her, and extended his hand. "Hand it over."
"What?"
"Your phone."
"What do you want my phone for?"
"What do you think?" Zephyr glared at her.
Afraid that resisting too much would make her family even more opposed to Daniel, she reluctantly turned off her phone and handed it to him. "You're not allowed to snoop through my phone."
"I don't have that much free time," Zephyr said angrily. "From now on, you're not allowed to step downstairs."
"Then I won't eat?"
"A servant will bring your meals to you. You're not allowed to go anywhere. And you are absolutely forbidden from seeing that guy again."
"Dad, he has a name. Stop calling him that. He could not choose his birth. You just happened to be born into a good family. If you were him, you might not be as good as he is. At least he's a hero who fought against drug trafficking and contributed to society. What about you? You're standing on the shoulders of your ancestors. Anyone with a bit of brains could achieve what you have now." Lyric was so angry that she started arguing with him.
Zephyr was so furious that he laughed. He couldn't believe that his precious Lyric would speak to him like this for a man who had hurt her. He, the world's richest man, was being compared unfavorably to Daniel in Lyric's eyes!
If this got out, it would be a scandal!
He raised his hand to slap her.
She didn't flinch.
Remy quickly shielded Lyric and said to Zephyr, "She didn't mean it. Don't be angry. Why argue with a child? She's your precious daughter. Wouldn't it hurt you to hit her?"
Zephyr's hand fell, and he glared at Lyric, who was being protected. "Go upstairs and sleep. Do you know what time it is?"
Lyric, also angry, turned and stormed upstairs, slamming the door behind her.
Zephyr was so furious that his breathing became rapid. Remy quickly found his blood pressure medication, poured a glass of water, and gave it to him. Only then did he calm down. "It's because we've spoiled her too much that she's become so unruly."
"Maybe they really like each other. Perhaps Daniel knows he was wrong," Remy tried to speak up for Daniel because, from her perspective, if her daughter liked him, she would too.
Besides, Daniel had saved her life.
"To err is human. Should we give him a chance? Evaluate him? If you're too harsh, Lyric might disown you in the future."
"Better she disowns me than gets hurt again. Lyric was treated so poorly by Daniel. Just because she's being foolish doesn't mean we have to be. I will decide who Lyric marries. If it weren't for the fact that he saved your life, do you think he would still be alive? Would The Taylor Group still be intact?" Zephyr snorted. "We've already balanced the scales. The Vaughn Family owes The Taylor Family nothing."
Seeing that Zephyr was still angry, Remy knew that saying more would be futile and might even backfire.
Lyric thought Zephyr was just joking, but the next morning, she found her room door truly locked.
Except during meal times, when a maid would open the door to bring her food.
She was so angry that she started throwing things in her room, both furious and anxious because that fool was probably still waiting for her at the hotel.
She hadn't shown up, and he was still badly injured. Was he eating well, resting well, taking care of himself?
But no matter how much she fussed, the door remained closed.
She stood on the balcony, watching the snow fall.
She remembered him kneeling in the snow the day before.
Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.
She was still being confined. Remy occasionally came to keep her company and told her that Zephyr was already screening new marriage candidates for her. She wouldn't be let out until she met them.
Lyric was even more furious. "How can he do this?"
"Lyric, your dad is just worried about you. Don't be too anxious. Tell me, has Daniel come to see you while you've been locked up?" Remy asked.
Lyric lowered her eyes, looking disappointed.
No, not once did he.
