Chapter 401: Between Sarah and Me, Who Would You Protect?
"Really don't know?"
The steamy air was thick with tension, making her face flush and hot.
His features were so close, almost touching hers.
The hot water from the shower rained down on them, soaking their bodies and hair.
She watched the water stream down his prominent nose, thick curly eyelashes, and those thin, sexy lips.
Even though she had seen him countless times, his sudden closeness still made her heart race and her face flush.
Raymond was the epitome of her ideal man.
Her mind flashed back to the last time they made love, remembering how she had gently bitten his Adam's apple. Margaret couldn't help but smile, "Really don't know. Now move, I need to shower."
Her voice was playful, with a hint of teasing.
"How about I show you now if I'm a man or not?" Raymond's large hand pressed against the tiled wall, his shirt already soaked from the hot water, droplets trailing down his well-defined arm.
He leaned in suddenly, lightly biting her earlobe.
Margaret let out a muffled groan, "Raymond, that's enough."
"We haven't even started," Raymond said with a mischievous smile, bending down to capture her luscious red lips, sometimes biting, sometimes kissing.
Afterwards, Margaret came to a conclusion: never challenge a man by questioning his abilities.
Otherwise, he might just make you cry.
What Margaret didn't realize was that the more she begged, the more she cried, the more Raymond wanted to dominate her, to merge her into his very being.
He would push harder, wanting her even more.
Making his woman cry, especially in this context, was a testament to his prowess.
She was pinned against the wall, over and over, in the storm of their passion, feeling both exhausted and elated.
Margaret even wondered if she might just die in this bathroom. She had survived a liver transplant, a terminal illness, but she couldn't survive under him.
Drowsy and sore, she didn't even know when she fell asleep.
She felt a towel gently wiping away the water from her skin.
Then she was lifted by strong arms, hearing the hum of a hairdryer.
Margaret slept soundly, her cheeks still faintly pink.
Raymond held the hairdryer in one hand, worried the noise might disturb her sleep, so he turned it down.
His other hand moved through her wet hair, drying it.
Drying her hair was a pleasure.
If he could, he wished they could live like this forever.
After finishing, Raymond put away the hairdryer, tucked her in gently, and kissed her smooth forehead.
Her eyelashes fluttered, but she didn't wake.
Her brows relaxed, and a smile played on her lips.
She must be having a sweet dream, he thought, seeing her so happy.
Seeing her smile, Raymond's lips curved up too. In his heart, he silently said, "Margaret, I love you, so very much."
He hoped this beautiful dream would last forever.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
Raymond quickly silenced it and stepped out of the bedroom to answer.
"Mr. Raymond Howard, I'm at the hotel near your apartment. Tomorrow, I can give Mrs. Margaret Howard the booster shot."
Margaret had a wonderful dream, with Marlon, Nancy, and Raymond.
They had a wedding, receiving blessings from everyone.
Then they had a daughter, living happily in a villa as a family of five.
Raymond helped with the baby, changing diapers, busy but joyful.
Margaret was awakened by a ray of sunlight. Birds outside the window, in pairs, hopped on the branches, winking at her.
Maybe because she was so happy, she didn't find the birds noisy, even feeling they were bringing her good news, congratulating her on her wedding.
Her phone buzzed beside her pillow.
Margaret picked it up and saw messages from Sarah, who had been texting her since last night, even though she hadn't replied.
"Margaret, the cake from that shop is delicious. It's your favorite flavor. Won't you come and try it? My treat."
"Margaret, I know all about you and Raymond. Aren't you curious about your past?"
"I'll send you the address. I'll be waiting at the cake shop. It's up to you if you want to come."
Margaret glanced at the messages, then cleared the chat and got out of bed to change.
Raymond had made a lovely breakfast. After she finished eating, Rufus arrived.
"Margaret, you need one last shot," Raymond said.
Margaret's face turned pale at the mention of a shot. She was terrified of needles, but she still asked, "Is this the last one?"
"Yes."
"Will it make you happy if I get the shot?" Margaret's main concern was always Raymond's happiness, even when it came to regaining her memory.
Raymond and Rufus were taken aback.
Seeing their silence, Margaret smiled serenely, rolling up her sleeve to reveal her slender arm, "Then let's do it. Quickly, I'm scared of pain, or I might change my mind."
Raymond was deeply moved, knowing how much Margaret feared needles.
He gave Rufus a look.
Raymond shielded her from seeing the needle, guiding her head to rest against his waist. Margaret closed her eyes, looking very scared.
The thin needle pierced her skin.
Margaret bit her lip, the pain intense, but for Raymond's happiness and their bright future, she could endure it.
After Rufus left, Raymond stroked her hair, "I have to go to work at The Hughes Group. Be good at home and wait for me."
He kissed her forehead, a goodbye kiss.
Margaret didn't want him to leave, but she knew about his responsibilities and the many people at The Hughes Group depending on him.
She nodded, pretending to be understanding, "Okay."
Raymond caressed her face, reluctant to leave, but finally turned and walked away.
Margaret's phone buzzed again. It was another message from Sarah, with a picture of a window seat at the cake shop.
"I'm already here, Margaret. Are you too scared to hear about your past with Raymond? Are you that much of a coward?"
The challenge was clear.
Margaret looked up and called out, "Raymond."
His tall figure in a suit paused, then turned back, "What is it?"
"Between me and Sarah, who would you protect? I don't like guessing games, so I'm asking you directly."
Raymond's eyes softened as he walked back to her. "Margaret, you know it's you. Always you. Sarah's just trying to stir things up."
Margaret sighed, feeling a bit more at ease. "I needed to hear that. Thank you."
Raymond kissed her gently. "Don't let her get to you. I'll be back soon, okay?"
She nodded, watching him leave. Then, with a determined look, she grabbed her coat and headed out the door. It was time to face Sarah and put an end to the doubts once and for all.
