Chapter 159 Am I Going to Die?
"Sarah! Sarah!" Raymond shook her, his hands covered in her blood.
Sarah was out cold. Her once pretty face was now a mess of scratches and blood.
Raymond checked her breathing; she was barely hanging on.
He scooped her up, his face like stone, and carried her onto the private jet.
Raymond had no clue who did this to her, but he was furious.
Sarah came to, her eyes meeting Raymond's. The pain made her cry, and the tears stung her wounds even more. "Raymond, thanks for saving me. Am I gonna die?"
"No way," Raymond said, wiping her tears, clearly shaken.
She gave a sad smile that tugged at his heart. "I'm not scared of dying, Raymond. As long as you're okay, I'm good."
"Cut the crap. You're not going to die. I won't let it happen." His voice was rough. "Who did this to you?!"
Sarah's tears kept coming. Just as she was about to speak, she blacked out again.
Raymond crushed the wine glass in his hand, his face a mask of horror. "Find out who did this!"
"Yes, Mr. Howard." Alvin knew this was serious.
Half an hour later, they landed in Silverbrook.
Raymond rushed Sarah to the hospital.
He called Hubert to operate on her personally.
Seeing Sarah's injuries, Hubert was shocked. He'd always admired her looks, and now she was disfigured? What a waste!
Hubert shook his head but promised Raymond he'd do everything to save her, then took her to surgery.
Raymond smoked, his expression icy.
Alvin was at the end of the hall, on a call, looking worried.
After hanging up, he approached Raymond cautiously. "Mr. Howard, Mary reported back. Mrs. Howard didn't return to the apartment. Mary can't reach her either!"
Raymond's face darkened, his frown deepening. Margaret hadn't gone back to Hughes Manor or his place. Where could she be?
"Mr. Howard, where do you think Mrs. Howard could have gone? She doesn't have many friends," Alvin wondered.
Margaret was probably with Marlon!
Raymond stubbed out his cigarette and tossed it in the trash.
He headed for the elevator, his face like ice. Alvin hurried to keep up.
They left the hospital and drove to where Marlon was.
They walked into the ward.
Raymond saw Nancy wiping Marlon's hand. He was hooked up to all sorts of machines, still unconscious.
Hearing footsteps, Nancy looked up and saw Raymond in his business suit, expressionless, glasses on his nose. Surprise flashed in her eyes.
Raymond rarely showed up. The last time was when Marlon had a car accident and needed money. It took him days to visit Marlon in the hospital.
Since then, he hadn't been back.
Nancy was already fed up with him.
From the first time she saw him, she didn't like him. She thought he was all high and mighty, fooling Margaret but not her.
From the start, she wanted to break them up, but Margaret was too stubborn, pulling all sorts of stunts—hunger strikes, running away, even threatening suicide.
In the end, even her husband Marlon sided with Margaret, helping to convince her.
She had no choice but to give in. She once thought she might have been too harsh and misunderstood Raymond. But it turned out she was right.
Nancy's surprise lasted only a second before she lowered her eyes, holding the steaming towel, and continued to wipe Marlon, saying with a blank expression, "Mr. Howard, you're a busy man. What brings you to the hospital today? What a surprise."
Raymond could hear the sarcasm in her voice. Normally, he would have snapped back. But today, he needed to find out where Margaret was.
So he walked towards Nancy and coldly asked, "Where is Margaret?"
"How ridiculous. Margaret is your wife. You're asking me where she is? How would I know? Don't you even know where she went?" Nancy thought Margaret was just throwing a fit and didn't think much of it, continuing to mock him.
His face grew even colder, his expression tense.
Alvin explained, "We can't find Mrs. Howard now."
"Why did she leave?" Nancy threw the towel into the basin.
Water splashed everywhere.
Raymond said nothing.
Nancy's tone turned aggressive. "You drove her away! How could she not leave after all you put her through? Raymond, if you were even a little bit good to Margaret, would she throw a tantrum and avoid you? Every time I called her, she said you treated her well! But I'm not an idiot! You didn't treat her well at all. Margaret suffered a lot with you!"
"Her father and I never said a harsh word to her! We never let her suffer even a bit! But you made her suffer all the hardships she shouldn't have! Now you know to come to me for her, what were you doing before? We're putting up with you not because we're weak, but because we don't want to put Margaret in a difficult position. You get it, right?" Nancy said, her eyes red with tears.
She pointed to Marlon lying on the bed, angrily shouting, "Since Marlon's accident, how many times have you shown up? You're such a jerk! Before Marlon went into a coma, you were eager to show off in front of him. You said the Hughes Family had been kind to you, and you would be good to us and Margaret! But after Marlon's accident, you acquired the Hughes Group, and your true colors were revealed."
"Where is Margaret?" Raymond clearly didn't want to hear her lecture.
Because Nancy didn't know that Marlon had harmed his entire family. For Margaret's sake, he didn't plan to tell her. But that didn't mean she could interfere in his affairs.
"I don't know where she went! Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you, you bastard! You don't treat her well! You don't cherish her!" Nancy wiped the tears from her cheeks, gritting her teeth.
Raymond left the ward with a cold face.
Alvin followed closely, listening to his instructions, "Bring some bodyguards here to wait for Margaret!"
"Yes, Mr. Howard."
"Investigate what happened to Ms. Martinez and find the mastermind!"
Raymond was sure Margaret would show up to see Marlon.
Raymond thought to himself, 'Margaret, if you're gonna play hide and seek, fine. But don't think you can disappear forever. We're gonna settle this, old and new, when I find you.'
