Chapter 160 Making a Deal with Him

Raymond stormed out of the hospital, looking like he was ready to punch a wall.

He asked for the car keys, wanting to drive himself home.

Alvin could tell he was in a foul mood and didn't say much. He just handed over the keys and went to check on Sarah's injury.

Raymond slid into the driver's seat, rolled down the window, lit a cigarette, and smoked with a blank expression.

The cold wind blew in, making the cigarette in his fingers flicker.

Where the hell did Margaret go?

Was she really throwing a fit just because she saw a picture of him helping Sarah with her luggage?

Raymond felt a surge of anger, mixed with a touch of amusement. Did she even know her place? She was just the daughter of his enemy. She said she wanted to make a deal with him and atone for her father's sins!

She got her 50% of the Hughes Group, a hundred million in cash, fifty million for Marlon's care, and his promise to help. Then she signed the contract and became a total diva.

She'd do anything to please him, even swallow her pride. She'd kneel in the snow outside the Hughes Group if he asked.

Now she was getting bolder by the minute, even blocking his calls.

Had their roles reversed?

Raymond was so lost in thought, he didn't even notice the cigarette burn his finger.

Just like him and Margaret, he thought they would have plenty of time. He used to be so confident, thinking the Hughes Family owed him, and no matter how excessive he was, she wouldn't leave.

But reality was heading in the opposite direction.

Raymond felt unbearably distressed, irritable, impatient, and mostly angry. He drove recklessly on the road.

Even Sarah's disfigured face couldn't stir his emotions!

But Margaret just ran away and hid, and his emotions went out of control.

The car sped away.

He didn't know where he was heading; he just knew he was very agitated and needed to vent.

Eventually, the car stopped under the apartment.

He was shocked for a while. It turned out his subconscious had brought him home!

He parked the car, got out with a cold face, closed the door, and took the elevator to the first floor.

He entered the fingerprint code to unlock the door.

The apartment door clicked open.

He entered without changing his shoes and walked up the spiral staircase.

Raymond found that everywhere he looked, there were traces of Margaret.

Even in the living room on the second floor.

Usually, every time he came home from work, she would be lying on the sofa, daydreaming.

She would have a thin blanket over her legs, and even if she didn't talk to him, at least she was there with him.

"Margaret, who told you to leave without saying a word?" Raymond seemed to see her on the sofa and said in a cold tone.

At that moment, a surprised voice came from behind, "Mr. Howard, who are you talking to? Mrs. Howard hasn't come back."

He turned around to see Mary, wearing an apron, looking at him in shock.

He glanced at the sofa again. Yes, it was empty and cold.

Who was he talking to?

Raymond held onto a glimmer of hope, went to the master bedroom, the guest bedroom.

And the walk-in closet.

She really hadn't come back.

He went back to the living room, glanced at Mary, and said, "She's not back. You don't need to come over; you can take a few days off."

Mary smiled faintly, "Mr. Howard, I have to come. Mrs. Howard bought a parrot and some green plants. She loves them, and I have to feed the parrot and water the plants. Otherwise, Mrs. Howard will be upset if she comes back and sees I didn't take care of them. I don't want to see Mrs. Howard frown."

Raymond looked puzzled, "Green plants?"

"Yes, before Mrs. Howard left, they were thriving. Let me show you." Mary grabbed the feed and watering can and led Raymond to the corner.

Raymond saw a pot of green plants, its leaves withered and lifeless.

He frowned.

"Oh no, it was fine just yesterday. How did it suddenly wither? This isn't good. Mrs. Howard will be upset if she sees this." Mary exclaimed.

Raymond took the watering can from her, squatted down, and carefully watered the plant.

It seemed like he wasn't just watering a plant but performing a significant task.

Not a single mistake could be made.

"If Mrs. Howard knows you watered it for her, she will be happy."

"Really?"

"Of course. Mrs. Howard cares about Mr. Howard; she just doesn't like to show it. Mrs. Howard loves to bask in the sun and daydream. I once asked her what she was thinking about, and she said she was thinking about many things, like the past. I think she must be thinking about Mr. Howard."

"Why didn't you tell me before?"

"Mrs. Howard thought you were busy with work and didn't want me to disturb you," Mary said.

After watering, Raymond put down the watering can.

He noticed the leaves of the plant were covered in dust.

He found a cloth and wiped the leaves clean, making the plant look as green as a fine emerald.

He went to the balcony and opened the glass door.

Raymond saw the parrot in the cage, looking dejected. When it saw someone coming with food, it immediately perked up, its eyes widening, jumping around excitedly.

Mary handed the feed to Raymond and said with a slight smile, "Mr. Howard, this parrot is very smart. It can talk and cheer people up. Mrs. Howard likes it a lot."

"Say something!" Mary looked at the parrot.

The parrot jumped and squawked, "Hello! Hello!"

"What else can you say? Say it, and you'll get food!" Mary beamed.

The parrot continued, "Thank you! Thank you!"

Raymond told Mary to go about her business, and Mary left.

The parrot kept talking, and Raymond finally smiled. He picked up a few pieces of feed with his slender fingers and put them in its food tray.

The parrot quickly ate them, then looked up and continued to squawk, "Thank you!"

"Can you say anything else?" Raymond smiled.

It stared at him for a moment, then started mimicking, "Raymond! Raymond! Raymond!"

He was stunned. It knew his name?

It seemed Margaret often called his name in front of this parrot.

"Raymond! Jerk!"

"Raymond! Bastard!"

The parrot looked at the feed in Raymond's hand, flapping its wings before saying, "Raymond, jerk! Raymond, bastard!"
