Chapter 592 Missing
Margaret wrapped her arms tightly around Raymond's waist, resting her head against his solid chest. A sweet smile curled her lips as she promised, "Okay, I promise I won't talk to strangers. I'll stay home with Felicity."
"Margaret, I love you so much."
"I know." She added silently in her heart, 'I love you too.'
He held her close, patting her shoulder. Her long hair brushed past his nose, carrying a delightful fragrance.
"You don't know." I care about you more than you can imagine, need you, can't live without you.
She went along with him, not arguing. She didn't believe he loved her as much as she loved him. She had abandoned her moral principles, given up on love and hate, and overcome so many difficulties and constraints to start anew with him. How could he understand the hardships and choices involved?
"It's okay, now I know." She closed her eyes happily.
'Dad, Mom, can you see me from heaven? I'm so happy now. So, please bless me from heaven, let me be this happy forever.' Margaret thought to herself.
Time flew by.
In the blink of an eye, it was time to leave for Regal City.
Daniel packed lightly, bringing only a change of clothes, and boarded a plane to his destination.
Upon arriving at Regal City, he was met at the airport by Remy and Zephyr.
They arranged for him to stay at a hotel owned by their family.
Daniel was surprised to learn that Remy was the woman who had been kidnapped by drug lords years ago. Cade had never mentioned it.
Remy was deeply moved to see Daniel, having searched for him for so many years.
They arranged to have dinner together that evening, and Remy would bring her daughter along.
It was meant to be a formal meeting, to see if they got along.
Daniel wanted to be clear about his intentions, so he politely agreed.
But when the dinner time came, only Remy and Zephyr showed up.
"Daniel, I'm so sorry. Lyric had something come up last minute and couldn't make it. I apologize," Remy said, looking guilty.
He didn't mind, as he already had someone in his heart. "It's okay, Mrs. Vaughn."
"But she can meet you tomorrow. Daniel, are you free tomorrow?" Zephyr asked with a smile.
He nodded, "Yes, I am."
Remy kept serving him food, looking at him with deep emotion. "I never imagined that the hero who saved me would turn out to be Mr. Taylor's son. If you hadn't returned to The Taylor Family and appeared at public events, I might never have found you. You wouldn't even tell me your name back then."
"Mrs. Vaughn, it was my duty," Daniel replied gentlemanly.
Zephyr looked at him with admiration. "Remy has been wanting to thank you in person for so long. Daniel, we really appreciate you. You're such a kind-hearted young man, and we feel comfortable entrusting our daughter to you."
"I consulted a priest, and he said you two are destined to be together," Remy added.
Daniel didn't believe in such things. "Mr. Zephyr Vaughn, Mrs. Remy Vaughn, marriage is not something to be taken lightly. We should trust in science."
Remy wanted to explain that the priest wasn't a fraud.
Zephyr patted Remy's hand and gave her a reassuring look, then turned to Daniel with a smile. "How about this, you two meet tomorrow and see how it goes. We'll just set up the meeting, and the rest is up to fate."
"Sounds good to me," Daniel agreed, thinking that refusing now would seem ungrateful. He'd meet the girl tomorrow and see how things went. Maybe she felt the same way he did.
Both Remy and Zephyr were pleased with Daniel, appreciating that he wasn't opportunistic. Unlike the men who showed their greed by immediately trying to curry favor upon hearing about marrying Lyric, Daniel behaved differently.
Although they were happy with Daniel, Lyric's happiness was more important.
If Lyric didn't agree, they wouldn't push for the marriage. After all, feelings couldn't be forced.
After dinner, Zephyr said, "Daniel, you've had a long journey. We won't keep you from resting. Tomorrow, you can meet our daughter on the third floor of the hotel. The hotel will be closed to other guests for the day. Have lunch together, and as a gentleman, take the initiative. Let her be your guide and show you around. Regal City has many great places to eat and fun things to do. She's an expert in that area. Follow her lead, and you won't go wrong."
"Thank you for the hospitality," Daniel said gratefully.
He watched as Zephyr and Remy got into their stretch Lincoln and sped off, disappearing into the night.
Daniel returned to the hotel, thinking about the meeting tomorrow. What was Della doing now?
He pulled out his phone and tried to add her on WhatsApp, but her account was still deactivated.
Calling her number also led to a dead end.
He muttered to himself, "Della, once I return from Regal City, we'll be together again. Nothing and no one can stop me from being with you."
Zephyr and Remy returned to their sprawling home.
Remy warmed a cup of milk and knocked on her daughter's door.
When her daughter said to come in, she entered with a smile.
Lyric was lying on her bed in a nightgown, holding a tablet and watching a video.
"Lyric, have some warm milk," Remy said, handing her the cup.
Lyric smiled and thanked her, taking a sip.
"You didn't want to meet that young man. Lyric, are you hiding something from us?" Remy asked, concerned.
Lyric's fingers paused on the glass, then she smiled at Remy. "Mom, I'm fine. I don't lack money or love. I'm already much better off than most people. I'm very content, okay?"
"But I feel like you've been down since you came back from Silverbrook. What kind of terrible company did you work for that left you like this?"
"Mom, let's leave the past in the past, okay? How was dinner tonight?" Lyric hugged the milk cup, changing the subject.
Remy's face lit up. "It was great. I'm not exaggerating, but that young man is quite handsome, tall, and slim, with a lot of charisma. He's just your type. Even though he's a bit older than you, he's very reliable."
"He's the hero who saved your life. How could he not be reliable? Mom, for your sake, I'll meet him seriously tomorrow," Lyric sighed, looking up at her. "I don't want you and Dad to worry about me anymore. The person you chose for me can't be bad."
