Chapter 254 Forgive Me This Time

Upon hearing Raymond's name, Margaret's heart suddenly tightened.

'Raymond, right, how do I not think of him?' Margaret thought to herself.

"Margaret, did you have another fight with him?" Nancy cried as she questioned Margaret.

Margaret didn't want Nancy to worry, so she lied, "No."

"No? Then why did your dad suddenly disappear? This must be Raymond's doing. Who else would have the motive? Have you forgotten how he pushed your dad to the ground, causing him to fall out of his wheelchair?" Nancy wiped her tears. "It's almost New Year's, what exactly does Raymond want?"

Margaret suddenly remembered yesterday when Raymond forced her to take medicine, scratched his face, and slapped him several times, not expecting his revenge to come so quickly; indeed, her willfulness always came with a price.

"Mom, I'll go find him. Don't worry. Raymond won't do anything to Dad." After comforting Nancy, Margaret hurriedly changed clothes and took a cab to the Hughes Group.

On the way, she also tried to contact him by phone, but he just wouldn't answer.

But he just wouldn't answer.

Margaret thought that her dad's disappearance must be his doing. Otherwise, why would he be too guilty to answer her calls?

When Margaret arrived at the Hughes Group, she saw the busy employees in the office area, some typing on keyboards, some making phone calls, and some walking around.

The employees working here, whether male or female, were all energetic and full of vigor.

Only she, wrapped in a thick down jacket, seemed out of place in the professional environment. She was so ordinary that no one noticed her arrival.

Alvin saw Margaret, a flash of surprise in his eyes, and then he took the initiative to tell her that Raymond was in a meeting and couldn't see anyone right now.

Margaret asked Alvin to tell him that she had something very important and needed to see him immediately.

Alvin hesitated for a moment but agreed, first taking Margaret to the reception room and asking the receptionist to pour her a glass of water because he knew she was pregnant from delivering medicine to her before.

He also asked the receptionist to bring a plate of fruit and some snacks.

Only then did Alvin go to the meeting room to find Raymond.

Margaret held the glass of water and took a sip.

After a while, Alvin returned.

"Can I see him now?" Margaret was anxious.

Alvin pursed his lips. "Mrs. Howard, Mr. Howard is very busy right now. Why don't you go back? I'll have him come to you when he's done."

Margaret bit her lip, her fingers on her knees clenched tightly.

Raymond clearly didn't want to see her. Even if he finished his work, he wouldn't show up.

Margaret replied, "No need, I'll wait here. I'll leave when he comes out."

At that moment, Alvin received a call and went off to attend to his business.

By noon, Margaret's stomach growled with hunger. Alvin ordered takeout for her, but she didn't eat a bite, insisting on waiting to eat with Raymond.

When Raymond learned of her intention from Alvin, he impatiently tugged at his tie, paused the meeting, and got up from his chair, striding out of the meeting room.

Alvin shook his head, thinking Raymond still cared about Margaret.

Margaret not eating made him unable to continue the meeting.

Raymond initially didn't want to deal with Margaret. She had been too unreasonable, scratching his face, and the marks hadn't faded yet.

No woman had ever dared to treat him like that, let alone slap him several times.

Raymond realized his temper was getting smaller and smaller, and his tolerance for Margaret was growing.

He had been quite busy these days, so he planned to finish his work and then find her, so they could spend New Year's together as a family.

He didn't expect her to come looking for him so soon.

Raymond couldn't help but smile, but it was fleeting, and his expression quickly returned to its usual coldness.

He strode into the reception room, noticing Margaret immediately who was sitting on a chair by the long table.

Her long hair fell over her shoulders, tucked behind her small ears.

Margaret's black down jacket wrapped her tightly, making her look very petite.

She was holding a glass of water, about to take a sip, but when she heard footsteps and the sound of the glass door being pushed open, she looked up.

Her eyes instantly met Raymond's cold gaze.

Margaret saw the red nail marks on his cheek, so long and deep, not expecting she had such strength.

But it didn't affect Raymond's handsomeness at all. Instead, it added a touch of allure to him.

His sudden appearance made her grip the glass tighter.

"You looking for me?" Raymond said, giving Alvin a look.

Alvin closed the reception room door.

Margaret nodded.

"What's the matter?" Raymond asked coldly, his expression indifferent.

Margaret sneered, thinking he was really good at acting. How could he not know why she was looking for him?

But she remembered her purpose was to ask him to release Marlon, so she swallowed her sarcasm and nodded.

Hearing Margaret's stomach growling with hunger, Raymond frowned and looked at Alvin.

"Mrs. Howard insisted on waiting for you to eat together," Alvin quickly explained, fearing Raymond would blame him.

Margaret said, "Don't blame him, I wanted to wait for you."

"Bring a nutritious meal and a business lunch," Raymond said to Alvin, though his eyes were on Margaret.

Alvin left the reception room.

Soon, Alvin brought the two meals and left them alone.

Raymond opened the nutritious meal for pregnant women and then the business lunch, which happened to have dishes Margaret liked.

He expressionlessly transferred the dishes to the nutritious meal box, took out the utensils, and pushed the meal in front of her. "Eat."

"Thank you." Margaret took the utensils and started eating.

The food was delicious, and the dishes in the nutritious meal were all her favorites.

She kept her head down and didn't see Raymond's frown relax. It had been a long time since he heard her say thank you.

Margaret was thinking about how to ask him to release Marlon without angering him.

"Why are you looking for me?" Raymond asked again.

Margaret kept her head down, and reluctantly admitted her mistake, "Raymond, I was too impulsive yesterday. You're right, I'm your wife, and it's my duty to bear children for you. I should feel honored, not ungrateful, and argue with you. Our family owes you, Raymond, I was wrong. I hope you can forgive me this time."

After Margaret finished speaking, he said nothing.

The air instantly became quiet.
