Chapter 301 Suddenly Realizing You Are Gone

"Thank you." Margaret thought it was Joseph, said thank you, and got out of the car from the passenger seat.

She looked up and saw Raymond in a black coat and sunglasses, expressionless as he closed the car door for her.

Margaret's expression turned cold as soon as she saw Raymond.

Raymond stood in front of her, and a circle of media surrounded them, talking non-stop.

"Please move aside." Margaret's tone was sharp.

The media frantically took pictures of Margaret and Raymond, thinking it was big news that Margaret and Raymond met at the courthouse entrance.

Raymond intended to escort her into the courthouse because there was too much media.

But she didn't seem to appreciate it at all.

He felt a lump in his throat.

His legs felt like they were filled with lead, and Raymond couldn't move them.

Margaret impatiently pushed him away, and the media's flashlights crazily flickered on Margaret's exquisitely made-up face.

"Please move aside," Margaret said coldly.

Joseph, being perceptive, squeezed in and cleared a path for Margaret.

The media made way and interviewed Raymond instead.

They felt Margaret wasn't interested, as her attitude was cold.

With only a few minutes left before the court session, Joseph was checking the materials he had brought, and Margaret went to the restroom to wash her face.

She didn't know what would happen later.

She just felt a heavy, oppressive discomfort in her chest. Would today clear Marlon's name?

Even though Joseph had never lost a case, she was still worried.

Taking a deep breath to adjust her mindset, Margaret dried her hands and then turned to leave the restroom, heading to the courtroom.

The judge hadn't arrived yet.

When she had just reached the door, she saw Raymond and Alvin walking towards the courtroom.

Sarah was wearing a pink fur coat, a white bodycon dress underneath, and cream-colored flat shoes. Because of her burn scars, she wore a sky-blue feather mask, which was petite and cute.

Margaret was shocked that Sarah was there too.

'Does Raymond bring her?' She thought.

So Sarah was burned and disfigured, yet she could still dress so beautifully. No wonder Raymond liked her.

Margaret felt a pang of jealousy.

What made her even more jealous was Sarah running to Raymond and hugging him tightly, while Sarah could see Margaret standing at the door.

As if on purpose, Sarah hugged Raymond tightly and provocatively said to her, "Raymond, long time no see. How have you been?"

Sarah spoke to Raymond in a friendly tone.

But Margaret knew Sarah was doing it on purpose to provoke her.

Just like last time when she brought soup to Raymond, Sarah did the same thing. The only difference was that last time, Sarah asked for a kiss and confessed her love. Now it was a hug.

Margaret was curious if Raymond had accepted Sarah's confession last time, if he had given Sarah a status.

Margaret had long known that these two were not simple, but seeing it with her own eyes still made her feel uncomfortable.

Her heart felt like it was being stung by bees.

The courthouse was such a solemn place, yet they couldn't bear to be apart for a moment.

Margaret's breathing became difficult, and the air around her felt thin.

Raymond killed Marlon, probably for Sarah.

After all, in Silverwood, Sarah had told her that Raymond couldn't wait any longer.

Raymond thought she was dying too slowly.

They were clearly a couple, yet he thought she was dying too slowly.

Margaret felt a bitter pain in her heart, waves of pain hitting her body.

Alvin walked over to Raymond, turned his head, and saw Margaret standing at the door, clenching and unclenching her fists. Alvin exclaimed, "Mrs. Howard."

As soon as Raymond heard Alvin's words, he snapped out of it and quickly pushed Sarah away.

He hadn't expected Sarah to be here.

He was stunned by her sudden hug.

Raymond turned around and saw Margaret calmly walking in.

Then she sat down at the plaintiff's seat.

Raymond felt Margaret had misunderstood, thinking she must have seen something.

"Margaret," Raymond spoke.

Margaret looked up and saw Sarah once again holding onto Raymond's arm, "Raymond, I heard you had a court session today, so I came to surprise you. I'll stay with you until it's over."

Margaret found it very eye-catching, how affectionate they were, even needing to be together during a court session.

"Raymond, no matter if others believe you or not." Sarah glanced at Margaret, then smiled at Raymond and said coquettishly, "I believe you. Someone as kind as you couldn't possibly kill anyone."

Raymond's expression softened a bit; Sarah was the first person willing to believe in his innocence.

He pulled Sarah's hand off his arm and glanced at Hubert, who was wearing a suit and thick glasses. "Why is Ms. Martinez here?"

"Ms. Martinez's depression has been acting up recently, quite severely, with frequent insomnia. She insisted on being discharged to see your court session. I was worried about her, so I came along." Hubert said respectfully, "Mr. Howard, Ms. Martinez is worried about you."

Hearing the word depression, Raymond worried that asking Sarah to leave now might upset her. After all, Sarah's facial scars were from saving him from a burning Bentley.

Raymond said, "You did well."

Sarah and Hubert sat in the empty seats on the defendant's side.

Sarah's seat was the closest to Raymond.

Margaret worried she might have an episode later; her body couldn't afford to have an issue at such an important moment.

So she took a thermos and a bottle of painkillers with the label torn off from her backpack.

She opened the painkiller bottle cap and deftly took out a few pills.

Numbly, she put them in her mouth.

The bitterness had already numbed her entire mouth.

"Margaret, what medicine are you taking? Are you sick?" Joseph, who was organizing materials nearby, saw Margaret taking pills and couldn't help but exclaim.

As soon as he said this, everyone's eyes turned to her.

Hubert and Sarah exchanged a knowing glance.

Raymond saw Margaret drinking water with a thermos and frowned.

He noticed the medicine bottle on the table.

It was identical to the one he had taken for testing, which Hubert had found to contain vitamin pills.

Margaret was about to speak.

Raymond spoke first, addressing Joseph, "Vitamin pills."

Margaret was stunned, blinking her dry eyes.

Raymond actually thought her anti-cancer medication was vitamin pills.

Was he deceiving himself, or was he deliberately trying to disgust her?

Daniel had already told him she was a terminal cancer patient. She had vomited blood several times in front of Raymond, and she had shown him her medical records. Yet he still denied her illness and now said she was taking vitamin pills!
