Chapter 451 She Seems Like an Ant
Daniel noticed that whenever he mentioned Raymond, her eyes would light up.
It was no secret that she liked Raymond, but knowing that didn't make the pain in his heart any less sharp.
No guy wanted to see the girl he liked always thinking about another guy, and Daniel was no different.
But he had no right to be jealous. He knew he and Margaret were just friends for now.
"How should I test him?" Margaret asked eagerly, seeing him lost in thought.
He smiled, holding his camera, and looked at the screen where they were standing so close for the first time. It made his heart ache. "Just follow my lead. Smile for the camera."
Margaret didn't know what he was up to, but she wanted to test Raymond's feelings.
So she cooperated, showing a bright smile, though it couldn't hide the sadness in her eyes.
Later, Margaret used his phone to take pictures of him while he picked out vegetables and paid for them. They took several photos together.
Meanwhile, at Hubert's mansion.
It was dark, with no lights on.
Only a faint light seeped through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Sarah lay naked on the waterbed, her back exposed as Hubert had sex with her roughly, over and over again.
Nausea and disgust churned violently in her stomach.
Sarah clutched the sheets tightly, begging him to stop, afraid that Raymond would find out when she got back.
Hubert, annoyed by her noise, grabbed her breasts harshly.
The pain brought tears to Sarah's eyes, a mix of anger and shame.
It went on for what felt like an eternity, until she thought she might die there, before Hubert finally let her go.
He then lit a cigarette, looking at her coldly. "Did you get the wedding photos done?"
"Raymond wasn't feeling well, so we had to stop," Sarah replied, her head down.
Hubert stood up from the edge of the bed, opened a nearby drawer, and took out a white pill bottle, pressing it into her hand. "Find a way to make him take these."
"What is this?" Sarah's body tensed.
She looked up to see Hubert's expression. "One pill a day. Once he finishes this bottle, he'll die suddenly without anyone suspecting a thing."
Sarah's pupils contracted sharply. She tried to push the bottle back. "We agreed to wait until after the wedding. Isn't this too rushed?"
"We can't wait any longer."
"What?"
"I can't wait. Think about it. Every time we try to harm him, something always goes wrong and ruins our plans. The longer we wait, the more risks we take. So I've decided to act now."
"But—" Sarah bit her lip.
Hubert snapped, "Cut the crap. Margaret didn't die. Daniel switched her out and took her abroad to save her. As long as Margaret was gone, we could take our time. But now that she's back, she's a ticking time bomb. If the truth comes out, we're dead."
"A perfectly healthy person suddenly dying, won't that raise suspicions?" Sarah asked, her eyes wide with worry.
She tried to push the bottle back into Hubert's hand.
But Hubert gripped her hand tightly, not letting her move.
"A ruthless woman like you, having second thoughts now? Sarah, you're not planning to betray me, are you?" Hubert sneered.
Sarah didn't get a chance to respond.
Hubert bit her lip hard, the pain forcing her to endure, her fingers digging into her palm.
"Let me warn you. You have one week to do this. If I don't hear about Raymond's sudden death at work in a week, the evidence of your impersonation will be in Raymond's hands. Let's see, how much dirt do I have on you?"
He continued and smirked, "Hiring Ashley to kill Margaret, driving Ashley to suicide, taking over Margaret's sponsorship. Killing Margaret's first child. Sowing discord between Raymond and Margaret. Sending Margaret your wedding photos with Raymond to push her to jump off a building. Getting plastic surgery to look like Margaret."
Sarah's face turned pale, swallowing nervously. "Stop! Stop!"
He added, "And let's not forget, before Marlon hit Raymond's father, you hit him first, right? You're the real culprit behind his car accident injuries! Hiring Percy to set a fire and kill. Percy kept quiet for his family's sake, but that doesn't mean I didn't find out everything."
Sarah trembled with fear, covering her ears. "Stop, stop—"
"If Raymond finds out he avenged the wrong person, and you're the one who killed his father, what do you think he'll do? Tear you apart or cut you into pieces?"
"Shut up! Shut up!" Sarah screamed, crying.
Hubert yanked her hands away from her ears, smiling cruelly. "Now do you see your place? You and Raymond are destined to be enemies. Stop fooling yourself. He's only good to you because you look like Margaret! Do you think becoming Margaret makes you her?"
Sarah forced a smile.
Tears streamed down her face.
Yes, Raymond was only good to her and felt guilty because she was an imposter.
If her secret was exposed, she would be dead without a trace.
"You can either get rid of him and change your fate, or be killed by him. Think carefully. Sarah, you're with me. If you have any second thoughts, I'll be the first to kill you."
Hubert brought his lecherous face close, kissing away her tears.
He spoke softly, "Can you do it? Don't take any medicine when you go back. Make Raymond write a will, leaving The Hughes Group and his money to you. Then The Hughes Group will belong to our child. You won't be the despised, trampled Sarah anymore."
His words were hypnotic.
She murmured, "I can."
"Good girl, I'll be waiting for your good news in a week."
Before leaving, Hubert had sex with her again for a long time.
Maybe it was the extreme fear, but she hadn't recovered from Hubert's threats.
So she didn't resist, didn't struggle, not even feeling nauseous anymore.
She just silently endured, staring at the ceiling in the dark night.
She felt like an ant, unable to change her fate, trying to survive in the cracks, with Raymond, Hubert, and Margaret all capable of crushing her.
After all her scheming, she still couldn't save herself.
On the way back, Sarah cried silently, clutching the white pill bottle Hubert had given her.
