Chapter 328 Am I Pregnant?
"What's the matter with you? If not, I'm hanging up," Raymond said irritably, taking out his frustration from Margaret on Sarah.
Sarah sobbed on the phone, feeling guilty, "Raymond, did I say something wrong? Why are you so impatient with me? If I did something wrong, you can tell me, but don't treat me with such impatience. I was just concerned about Margaret. We were best friends in college. You met Margaret because of me. I was just worried about her health ."
"I have depression now, and I overthink things easily. Raymond, with your attitude, how can I sleep at night? It affects me. My face is ruined, and it hasn't been fixed yet. You don't want to keep your promise to marry me. Who would want a woman like me?"
"I'm not saying this to regret helping you back then. If I had to do it again, I would still do it. I just can't stand your attitude towards me. If you're not satisfied with me, I can change. You said we could just be friends, and I haven't done anything excessive, have I? Can't I even call you now? Did Margaret misunderstand?"
"If Margaret misunderstood, you can give her the phone, and I'll explain to her. I'm a depression patient, and Margaret is so kind; she will surely understand. She loves you so much and will believe in your innocence. Besides, we are innocent. You don't even want to touch my hand. What's there to hide? The only soft spot you had for me was taking wedding photos with me, and that was it."
Raymond was already feeling chaotic, hearing Sarah crying on the other end of the phone made him even more speechless.
But thinking about her support for him, without Sarah's help, without her accompanying him through his hardest times, he wouldn't be where he was today.
He owed Sarah a debt he could never repay in this lifetime. He promised to marry her to repay her, but his heart belonged to Margaret.
"Nothing's wrong. I'm a bit busy here. I'll hang up now," Raymond said.
Sarah asked again, "So you're not mad at me, right?"
"Right. Take care of yourself," Raymond said and hung up.
After hanging up, Raymond thought about what Margaret had just said, feeling miserable.
It turned out he was manipulated by Margaret's feelings. He had become a stand-in for a mute person, which was a ridiculous joke.
Thinking of this, he finally punched the cold wall.
Instantly, his skin split open, and blood flowed quickly down the wall, creating an extremely glaring sight, yet he couldn't feel the pain anymore.
Compared to Margaret's words just now, this little external injury was nothing.
He took out a pack of cigarettes, shook one out, put it in his mouth, and started smoking again.
He didn't know when he started to like smoking more and more.
When Marlon fell down the stairs and couldn't manage the Hughes Group, he realized he had fallen in love with Margaret and had gotten used to being with her.
To force himself to take revenge and hate Margaret, he had to deliberately quarrel with her and ask for a divorce.
When Margaret heard he wanted a divorce, her eyes instantly turned red, and she clung to his arm, acting coquettishly.
She even climbed into his bed at night, trying to resolve their conflicts through sex.
She bought him gifts and cooked meals.
He felt he was wavering. Who wouldn't want to spend a lifetime with the girl they like, in love and harmony?
But his conscience was guilty. Every night, his nightmares were filled with Sandra's questioning and interrogation.
So he left without saying goodbye, moving out of the Hughes Manor on his own.
What he left behind was a divorce agreement.
She didn't sign it, firmly refusing to divorce, and even wanted to win him back.
To avoid her, Raymond had no choice but to work intensely and live at the company every day, letting Margaret misunderstand his relationship with Sarah.
To make Margaret let go and divorce, he deliberately took wedding photos with Sarah.
Because he knew Margaret had her pride and self-respect.
Once she found out he had fallen for Sarah, she would let go.
But now that Margaret was willing to let go, he wasn't willing anymore.
Raymond smoked, looking at the snow outside the window, blurring his vision.
Alvin, carrying dinner, saw Raymond's lonely and desolate figure at the end of the corridor and walked over, "Mr. Howard, I brought dinner for you and Mrs. Howard."
"Call Mr. Diaz and have him come see me," Raymond said coldly, thinking Margaret's medical report must have been switched by Hubert.
As for why he did it, they would have to wait until Hubert arrived to find out.
Alvin wasn't surprised by this decision at all, "Should I notify him now?"
"Wait until Margaret finishes her dinner."
"Mr. Howard, aren't you going to deliver the meal yourself? This is a good opportunity to show your care."
"She won't eat if she sees me," Raymond said with a bitter smile.
She felt uncomfortable just seeing him; how could she want to eat?
Right now, the most important thing was to deal with Hubert.
Hubert dared to harm Margaret; he must be tired of living.
Alvin brought the dinner to Margaret. It was porridge and some vegetables.
"Mrs. Howard, your body is quite weak. The doctor said it's better to eat light porridge these days. Eat it while it's hot." Alvin thoughtfully took out the utensils and placed them in front of Margaret.
Margaret didn't move, "I'm not hungry."
"Mrs. Howard, you haven't eaten a meal all day. How can you not be hungry? Mrs. Howard, there's no need to take your anger out on your body because of Mr. Howard."
"He's not worth my anger. I just don't feel like eating," Margaret corrected.
Alvin, hearing this, still thought she was angry and explained, "Mr. Howard really didn't know about your illness before because Mr. Diaz's report said you were very healthy. Mr. Howard will make Mr. Diaz give you an explanation. Mrs. Howard, Mr. Howard actually cares about you a lot; you just can't see it."
If it were before, Margaret would have tried to distinguish whether Raymond really didn't know or was deceived.
But now, she didn't want to figure out these messy things anymore.
What difference would it make if Raymond explained? Her body was already like this.
No matter what, Raymond had harmed her a lot for her condition to develop like this.
"I'm not interested in knowing these things. Don't mention them again."
"Mrs. Howard..."
"Take it away. I don't want to eat."
"Mrs. Howard, Mr. Howard said if you don't eat, I'll be fired," Alvin said.
Margaret sneered. Before, when she didn't eat, Raymond made Mary kneel in the rain as punishment. Now he was doing the same to Alvin. She wasn't surprised.
But Alvin had been good to her, and she didn't want to implicate him.
Margaret picked up the utensils and started eating expressionlessly.
In the obstetrics and gynecology department of Silverbrook's hospital, Sarah's shocked voice came through, "What did you say? I'm pregnant? Doctor, you must be mistaken?"
