Chapter 454 I Am Willing to Give You My Life

"That's enough." Daniel shot a look at the butler, signaling him to zip it.

The butler's words about Daniel stuck in his throat.

Daniel's stare was cold as ice, but when he turned to Margaret, his eyes softened. He kept his usual calm and gentlemanly vibe. "Ms. Hughes, let me walk you out."

"Thanks for everything these past few days, sir. I'm heading out now," Margaret said with a grateful smile to the butler before leaving the estate.

Daniel followed her, carrying her suitcase.

At Hughes Manor, Sarah wandered upstairs, lost in thought, passing by the bathroom door.

She heard the sound of water splashing.

Turning her head, she saw the silhouette of a tall, handsome man through the frosted glass door.

The bedroom door was open.

The room she was staying in now had once been Margaret's.

Taking over Margaret's room, sleeping in her bed, assuming her identity... these tough, torturous days were starting to have a hint of satisfaction.

Thinking of this, Sarah smirked as she walked into the bedroom.

She sat at the vanity, pulling down the collar of her turtleneck sweater to reveal bruises and purple bite marks on her neck.

She looked at the white pill bottle in her palm.

"You have a week to get him to take this. If I don't hear that Raymond has died from overexertion within a week, Sarah, your time is up."

Her fingers squeezed the white pill bottle, causing her knuckles to turn white.

Her phone vibrated.

Feeling irritated, Sarah got up from the vanity and followed the sound.

On the nightstand, a phone was charging.

She picked it up and saw an unfamiliar number.

Without thinking, she hung up.

But the caller dialed again.

Sarah answered the phone.

"Raymond, when are you coming to get me? Did you see the pictures I sent you on WhatsApp?" Margaret's urgent voice came through the line.

Sarah felt like she had fallen into an icy pit.

How did Margaret get in touch with Raymond?

Could it be that her plan had been exposed?

Swallowing nervously, Sarah quickly hung up the phone.

She found WhatsApp and opened the app.

Sure enough, Margaret had sent Raymond several photos. In the pictures, Margaret and Daniel were smiling brightly at the camera, carefree and happy.

It was a smile Sarah could never have.

She felt like the old Margaret was back.

But she couldn't let the old Margaret return!

Raymond hadn't replied to Margaret's messages.

Sarah gripped the phone case tightly. She wouldn't let Margaret ruin the happiness she had worked so hard to build.

She deleted Margaret's WhatsApp and blocked her.

She did the same with the phone number.

After putting down the phone, she returned to the vanity and picked up the bottles and jars on the table—Margaret's skincare products.

They were brands she had once wanted to use but couldn't afford.

She opened a jar, scooped out a bit with her finger, and spread it evenly on her face and hands.

In the mirror, she saw Raymond enter the room.

He was wearing a dark green bathrobe.

His hair was neatly styled, no longer dripping with water.

The bathrobe hung loosely on his sexy body, with water spots on his chest.

He walked toward her in cotton slippers.

As he got closer, the pleasant scent of his body wash filled her nose.

Seeing Raymond, Sarah's nose tingled with emotion.

Thinking about how Hubert had treated her today, her heart ached.

She forced a smile despite the pain.

He looked at her with concern. "Where'd you go just now?"

"Raymond, are you worried about me?" Sarah was stunned.

He frowned. "You're my wife. Is it weird for me to worry about you?"

Wife. He actually called her his wife.

She had waited so many years to hear that word.

All her efforts had finally paid off.

Seeing her eyes redden and tears fall, Raymond was at a loss, thinking he had said something wrong. He hurriedly used his fingers to wipe away her tears. "Why are you crying? Did I do something wrong? Did I make you mad?"

This cautious, eager-to-please Raymond was someone she had never seen before.

Sarah, despite her cruelty, was ultimately a woman starved for love. Who wouldn't want to be cherished, protected by the man they loved?

If she could, she would want to be gentle and kind-hearted too.

But she had no choice. From birth until now, she had never had a choice.

She hugged Raymond tightly, very tightly.

Closing her eyes, she let the tears flow silently.

She didn't know what to do.

She seemed to have developed feelings for Raymond. She wanted more. She wanted to be with Raymond forever, to be a real couple, for eternity.

But she knew Hubert's methods.

Raymond felt suffocated by her tight embrace.

It was hard to breathe.

Being held like this by his beloved Margaret should make him happy.

Why did he feel the urge to push her away?

He wondered, 'Raymond, she became like this because of you! You only have six months to live. You can't keep doing this. After everything you've been through, haven't you learned to cherish life?'

Raymond forced himself to stay calm, using reason to suppress the turmoil in his heart.

He let her hold him.

She held him for a long time before finally letting go.

He looked at her uneasily. "Did something happen?"

"No." Sarah smiled at him, trying to smile as brightly as Margaret.

But she had too much on her mind and couldn't smile genuinely.

It turned into a forced smile.

Raymond didn't believe her. "But you were crying. Margaret, are you upset because we didn't take wedding photos? You don't know how worried I was when you left."

This fool, how could she be upset over something so trivial?

"Yes, I'm upset." Sarah needed an outlet for her emotions. As she spoke, tears flowed again.

It was strange. She had endured so much hardship before and had been strong, never crying. But now, with Raymond's comforting words and worried gaze, she felt like the world was collapsing. She was overwhelmed with grief.

"It's my fault. I apologize. Margaret, please believe me. I will marry you. I will give you everything you want, as long as you're happy, as long as you stay with me. You once said you wished I would die. I used to struggle with your hatred and curses. But now I've accepted it. As long as you live well, I'm willing to give you my life."
