Chapter 447 Without Snow, Roses Can Bloom
Margaret looked at Daniel, who stood before her with a gentle demeanor. Snowflakes fell between them, landing on his hair and curling eyelashes.
His high nose bridge and thin lips formed a slight curve.
"Margaret, I get where you're coming from. You know how Raymond is; he won't believe you. From what I know, your parents are gone, and you're all alone. If you don't take my help to avoid Raymond's misunderstanding, the imposter around him won't let you off easy."
Margaret bit her lip, her expression softening.
"If I were you, I'd find someone trustworthy and a safe place to stay while figuring out your next move. If you get hurt by bad people, how will you get back to the one you love?"
She remained silent.
Seeing her hesitation, Daniel continued, "I have someone I care about, Margaret. You can trust me completely. When you and Raymond make up, I'll leave without you needing to ask."
"Mr. Taylor, thank you."
"Ms. Hughes, there's no need to thank me. We're friends; you never have to say it's a bother."
A parrot suddenly flew onto Margaret's shoulder, squawking excitedly, though its words were unintelligible. From its tone, it was clearly agitated.
Margaret stroked its feathers and looked at Daniel, asking, "Mr. Taylor."
"Do you want to bring it along?"
"Is that okay?"
"Of course."
Daniel's assistant personally opened the car door for Margaret.
Daniel, ever the gentleman, let her get in first.
Margaret didn't know what to say, so she closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
He didn't call her out, just smiled slightly.
The way home was familiar to him.
But this time, it was the happiest he'd ever been.
Finally, he could bring the girl he cared about home.
A few minutes later, Margaret heard a familiar voice telling her it was time to get out.
She opened her eyes suddenly.
The assistant stood outside the car door, bowing respectfully, "Ms. Hughes, please."
Margaret stepped out of the car.
The parrot perched on her shoulder, blinking its eyes.
A row of servants stood at the door, along with an elderly butler, all bowing to greet her, "Welcome home, Ms. Hughes."
The estate before her was vast, with ancient architecture.
The falling snow added a touch of melancholy.
The Taylor Family estate was no less impressive than her own family's mansion, perhaps even more so.
Though it was a season of decay, the estate's greenery remained lush and vibrant.
Covered in thick snow.
Margaret was stunned by the grandeur, not expecting servants and a butler to personally wait for her at the door.
And welcome her home?
Was this her home?
But then she thought, maybe it was Daniel's way of making her feel comfortable, not wanting her to feel like an outsider.
Margaret quickly said, "Thank you."
"Ms. Hughes, if you need anything or if anyone troubles you, you can come to me. I'll handle it." The butler stood straight, looking kindly at Margaret.
Daniel had brought home his first girl, and since Daniel liked her, the butler would treat her well too.
"Thanks."
"It's freezing out here. Let's get you inside," Daniel said warmly, looking at Margaret.
Margaret nodded.
Daniel led the way, with Margaret following behind.
He wore a black leather jacket, standing tall and straight.
His jeans fit his long legs perfectly.
As they passed the butler, Daniel whispered a few instructions before entering the hall.
Margaret followed him inside.
The hall was decorated in a European style.
The space was vast.
All the lights on the ceiling were on, making it as bright as day.
They walked up a transparent spiral staircase to a bedroom door.
The bedroom was open.
Daniel reached out and turned on the wall light.
The room was instantly illuminated, revealing floor-to-ceiling windows, pink walls, and a matching bed. A white, plush carpet covered the floor. It appeared utterly uninhabited, yet was impeccably clean.
Daniel smiled at her, "Do you like this room?"
"Does the person you like also like pink?" Margaret asked suspiciously.
He paused, then answered, "Yeah. She always liked pink."
"So this room is for her?"
Of course, he had bought this estate and designed it according to Margaret's preferences.
"Will she misunderstand if she knows I'm staying in her room?"
"No. This is a guest room. She's not that petty. She won't mind."
Margaret felt inexplicably relieved, "That's good."
Daniel smiled bitterly and thought, 'Silly girl, the person I like is you. You just never knew.'
At that moment, the butler brought a cup of warm milk, "Mr. Taylor, the hot milk for Ms. Hughes is ready."
Daniel took a glass from the tray and handed it to Margaret, "A glass of warm milk before bed is good for you. Drink it while it's hot."
"Thanks." Margaret took it.
The warmth of the milk spread through the glass to her entire hand.
She felt warm all over.
The butler tactfully left.
Margaret took a sip of milk and looked at the snow outside, "If only it weren't snowing."
"Why do you say that?"
"If it weren't snowing, the roses would bloom."
"Do you like roses?"
"What girl doesn't like roses?" Margaret said casually.
Daniel wished her goodnight and was about to leave when Margaret called out, "Mr. Taylor, how did you find me earlier?"
"Ms. Hughes, you forget things so quickly."
"What?"
"Your bracelet has a tracking function. If it falls, my phone gets an alert with your location."
Margaret remembered, it seemed that was true.
"So never take it off, so I can be there for you immediately if something happens." Daniel said gentlemanly, then turned and left, closing the bedroom door.
Walking down the spiral staircase, Daniel went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and took out a bottle of water.
He opened it and drank.
Seeing the butler trimming a potted plant, he walked over, "Tomorrow, have someone redo all the landscaping in the estate."
"Mr. Taylor, what do you want to plant?"
"Transplanted roses, they must bloom this year."
"So Ms. Hughes likes roses." The butler understood, then asked, "Mr. Daniel Taylor, does Mr. Cade Taylor know about Ms. Hughes?"
