Chapter 331 You Just Need to Help Me Collect the Corpse

Margaret pursed her lips and looked away. "What do you want?"

Her voice was soft, almost like a whisper.

Raymond felt a heavy weight in his chest. In the past, if Margaret misunderstood him, she would apologize and anxiously ask if he was hurt.

No, the Margaret he used to know would never hit him without reason.

And she certainly wouldn't look at him with such indifference.

Raymond swallowed his bitterness and glanced behind him. "What are you standing there for?"

"Go apologize to Mrs. Howard!"

Alvin gave Hubert a hard shove.

Hubert stumbled forward, pushed roughly by Alvin.

Alvin kicked Hubert in the knee, causing him to fall heavily and bloodied at Margaret's feet.

His head hit the ground.

It was as if he was bowing to Margaret.

Margaret looked at the fallen Hubert with a blank expression.

Hubert, like a dying fish, struggled for a moment before lifting his head. His forehead was a glaring red, and one of his arms hung limp. Margaret knew this was Raymond's doing.

"Mrs. Howard, it's all my fault. I handed over your medical reports to my assistant. I never thought he would alter the reports and hide your condition! That bastard! I won't let him get away with this! Mrs. Howard, I swear it wasn't me!"

Margaret remained silent, watching calmly.

Was this another one of Raymond's tricks? He knew everything, yet now he was shifting the blame to Hubert?

He was washing his hands clean of it all.

Seeing Margaret's silence, Hubert frantically banged his head on the ground, begging for her forgiveness.

"Mrs. Howard, Mrs. Howard, you're so kind-hearted, you wouldn't kill an innocent person! Think about it, I have no grudge against you, no reason to harm you!"

"You don't have a reason, but your boss might," Margaret sneered.

Raymond's face darkened. "You think I ordered him to do it?"

"Didn't you?" Margaret glanced back at Raymond, her eyes cold.

"If I say I didn't, would you believe me? I didn't know about your condition!"

"Fine, if you say you didn't, then you didn't." Margaret couldn't be bothered to argue. She didn't care who was responsible.

A dying person had no need to worry about such things.

Margaret's attitude made Raymond's face even darker.

No one had ever wronged him like this.

Alvin cleared his throat. "Mrs. Howard, Mr. Raymond Howard truly didn't order this. I can vouch for him. Hubert's reports always showed you were healthy, and so was your baby."

"You're his assistant. Defending him is your job," Margaret said, unimpressed.

Alvin was at a loss for words. "No, it's not..."

"Mrs. Howard, this has nothing to do with Mr. Raymond Howard. He really didn't know. If I didn't know, how could he? We were both deceived by my assistant!"

"Mrs. Howard, Mr. Raymond Howard cares deeply for you and your baby. Please don't turn against him. I am willing to treat you, please give me a chance to make amends!"

"Blame me for not recognizing the right people. I caused you this suffering. I will get to the bottom of this and give you an explanation. Mr. Raymond Howard is innocent and loves you dearly, everyone can see that."

Hubert continued to bang his head on the ground.

The smell of blood filled the air, making Margaret nauseous.

To Margaret, this was just another one of Raymond's orchestrated dramas.

She was too tired to expose it.

"Alright, if you're done, leave. I'm tired and want to rest." Margaret watched coldly, exhausted.

Alvin gave Hubert a look, and Hubert, thanking Margaret, got up and left the room.

Alvin followed, closing the door behind him.

She turned back.

Raymond stood two meters away, his face grim.

"Mr. Howard, the actors have left. Aren't you, the director, going too? Or do you have another act to perform? Even if you do, I'm not interested." Margaret smirked mockingly.

Raymond's mood worsened at her smile.

"Close the door on your way out."

"Margaret, I really didn't know about your condition. Hubert said you were healthy. I even took you for check-ups, remember? If I didn't care, why would I take you for multiple check-ups?"

"Yes, whatever Hubert says."

"Margaret, don't talk to me like that."

"How should I talk to you then? Like before, smiling? Or like before, pleasing you like a dog?"

"I didn't go to Sarah, and I never will. You're not well, getting angry won't help."

"Raymond, don't waste your time on a dying person like me. Spend it on Sarah, she'll appreciate it." Margaret sneered. "Today's show was boring. Don't perform it again. I never liked watching plays."

Raymond's rationality was slipping away with her cold words. "I'll say it again, I didn't know you had cancer!"

"You knew! You just pretended not to! Raymond, I showed you my medical records, didn't I? I even coughed up blood in front of you and asked for painkillers from my bag! Did you forget?"

Raymond felt like he'd been struck by lightning. Of course, he remembered!

When he saw that thick medical record, he smoked all night, unable to sleep.

The next day, he took her to Hubert for a check-up, but the results were normal.

"Daniel told you too, right?"

"Yes."

"Then what else is there to say, Raymond? You just didn't want to admit my condition! Because if you did, you wouldn't have a reason to torment me! Self-deception was your way to carry out your revenge, wasn't it?"

"I..."

"Go, Raymond. I've fulfilled your wish, I'm dying soon. Let me die in peace, I beg you."

Raymond swallowed his words.

He wanted to say he wasn't self-deceiving to torment her.

He didn't want to lose her. He never imagined Margaret would leave him, especially not like this.

But now, no matter what he said, she wouldn't believe him.

"I'll come see you in a few days," Raymond said, trying to control his temper.

But as he reached the door, he heard Margaret's cold voice. "No need. Just come to collect my body when I'm dead."
