Chapter 163 I Can't Forgive Her

Raymond's first instinct was to say no; he didn't want to hear any of it!

But before he could get a word out, Sarah's icy voice cut through the air from behind him, "It was Margaret who did this to me!"

"No way. She wouldn't do something like that," Raymond turned around, frowning.

Sarah sneered, "Of course, you're defending her. Margaret's a master manipulator. She's playing you like a fiddle, but you're still standing up for her."

"I got this anonymous message to meet someone. Didn't think much of it and went. Turns out, it was a trap set by Margaret. She used her pregnancy as a weapon. She beat me, yelled at me, called me names, said I destroyed her life! I tried to reason with her, to plead with her, but it was no use."

"She slashed my face with a knife. Said if she ruined my face, you wouldn't protect me anymore. But we're innocent! Nothing ever happened between us, so why should I suffer like this?" Sarah wailed, her hands shaking.

"Do you know why I never told you? Because I know how much she means to you! You want her to have your kid, you want a happy life with her! I was willing to step aside and let you have that!"

"But I can't forgive her! Why should I live like this? Last time, she pushed me into the hospital fountain, you saw that yourself. Raymond, now that you know it was her, will you get justice for me? Will you?" Sarah cried, pleading with Raymond.

Raymond suddenly felt like he couldn't breathe, his heart heavy and suffocating. So it was really Margaret who did it.

No wonder she ran away. She had disfigured Sarah's face, so she didn't dare to show up.

Was it just because she saw a photo of him helping Sarah with her luggage?

Did she have to go to such extremes?

He wanted to explain, but Margaret wouldn't listen.

Raymond felt a whirlwind of emotions. Margaret had changed, not just her attitude towards him, but her once pure and kind nature was now unrecognizable.

Sarah screamed, smashing things in a fit of rage.

She was venting her inner fear and frustration.

She even grabbed a fruit knife and tried to slit her wrist again, saying she didn't want to make things hard for him.

Raymond quickly pressed the call button.

Hubert came in and gave her a sedative injection, and she finally collapsed, tears still streaming down her face.

"Mr. Howard, Ms. Martinez's condition seems to be in the late stages of depression. This incident has hit her too hard."

"Get her the right psychological counseling."

Raymond suddenly felt the air in the ward was stifling, almost suffocating him.

Just then, his phone rang, breaking the rare silence.

He took his phone and walked out of the ward.

At the end of the corridor, he answered Alvin's call.

Alvin said, "Mr. Howard, I couldn't find any information about Mrs. Howard entering or leaving Silverbrook. There are no records of her travel through the airport's ticketing systems, buses, or any other forms of transportation."

"Did you check her spending records?" Raymond's face was cold, the veins on the back of his hand bulging as he gripped the phone.

Alvin said, "Mr. Howard, there is no recent activity on her accounts."

"I get it," Raymond said, ending the call.

He suddenly remembered Margaret's words. She had said, "Raymond, don't push me too far, or if I can't live well, I'll drag Sarah down with me!"

She had been planning to hurt Sarah for a long time!

He just hadn't taken it seriously.

Because of one photo, she acted, and then ran away with his child?

Raymond thought to himself, 'This is too much! Margaret, you went too far!'

Raymond laughed bitterly. It seemed he needed to visit Marlon.

He took the elevator, left the hospital, and drove to the other hospital.

Both hospitals were his, but the drive took a full twenty minutes.

At the door of the ward.

Two bodyguards in suits and black sunglasses stood like gatekeepers. Seeing Raymond, they finally showed some expression, nodding and greeting him.

But no one knew that Raymond felt terrible inside.

Ever since Margaret ran away, he felt like something was missing in his life.

His emotions had become uncontrollable.

"Mrs. Howard still hasn't shown up?" Raymond asked, his heart filled with hope and a bit of wishful thinking.

The two bodyguards looked at each other and then shook their heads, saying no.

Raymond's heart tightened, his breath catching.

Margaret still hadn't shown up.

Where had she gone?

Raymond stepped into the ward.

He saw Nancy tidying up the blanket for the closed-eyed Marlon.

She didn't seem anxious at all.

"Where did you hide Margaret?" Raymond was annoyed and didn't want to waste words, so he asked directly.

Nancy had always been dissatisfied with him. She said with a sneer, "Raymond, you're ridiculous. I handed Margaret over to you. You're her husband, and you don't know where she is? How would I know?"

"I took her on a trip, and then she disappeared." Raymond pressed his lips together.

Nancy looked up, mocking him, "Margaret is pregnant with your child, and you're still giving her a hard time? It's one thing for you to treat us poorly. But you're bad to her too. No wonder she ran away."

"Call her now and tell her to come back immediately!" Raymond frowned, issuing orders.

Nancy said with a mocking smile, "Raymond, without her, you'd still be an orphan."

"No more talking. Call her right now, or I stop Marlon's meds." Raymond threatened through gritted teeth, squinting his eyes. "Mrs. Hughes, you're a smart person. Whether you make this call or not is up to you!"

Nancy was choked by his words, her face extremely ugly. Although she mocked Raymond, calling him a jerk and saying Margaret shouldn't have married him, she still picked up her charging phone. Even without Raymond's threat, she would contact Margaret and tell her to come back.

After all, Marlon was still in Raymond's hospital.

Raymond watched her reluctantly dial the number and then slowly said, "Put it on speaker."

Nancy's face turned even uglier. No one had ever dared to speak to her like this before, including Raymond.

Before they were married, Raymond, while not exactly flattering her, had always treated her with a veneer of respect.

Nancy pressed the speaker button.

Raymond then heard the beeping sound from the phone.

His heart suddenly tightened.

He swallowed, wondering if Margaret would answer the phone.

She should, right? After all, it was Nancy calling her!

At that moment, a voice came from the other end of the phone.
