Chapter 318 Dad, Mom, I Am Here To See You

Evelyn laughed hysterically, "Dead! You're all dead! The snow is endless, dying is good, dying is clean! Not a single one left!"

The people who tormented her were dead; she should have been happy.

But as she laughed, sorrow welled up in her heart. Her nose, was red and sore from the cold, and her burning tears broke through her eyes as her throat tightened. Her cheeks were covered in tears.

Evelyn collapsed in the snow, her hands and feet tightly bound, unable to stand.

The cold wind cut like a knife, and the heavy snow painfully stung her tear-streaked cheeks.

"They're all dead. I killed them, and I can't escape either." Evelyn smiled despairingly, muttering to herself.

Sure enough, Raymond's men would come soon. If she fell into their hands, she would wish she were dead.

She had heard of Raymond's methods.

Evelyn glanced at the bottomless cliff, where the green trees seemed to be dressed in silver-white clothes, creating a lonely and desolate atmosphere, while crows flapped their wings, soaring in the valley, their shrill and chilling cries echoing around her.

Evelyn lay at the edge of the cliff, inching closer, trying to fall off and commit suicide.

Suddenly, she was kicked over.

A pair of black leather shoes stomped on her chest.

The pain made her frown. She looked up to see a man in a suit and sunglasses.

Several bodyguards followed behind him.

She was pinned down by the bodyguard's boot, unable to move.

"Where are Mr. and Mrs. Howard?" Alvin took off his sunglasses and glanced around. There was nothing but a vast expanse of snow.

Evelyn was forced to meet Alvin's gaze. "You'll have to jump down to find them! Maybe they've already fallen and died!"

Evelyn finished speaking and tried to commit suicide.

But the bodyguard held her down first. "She wants to kill herself!"

"Take her back. Suicide is too easy for her!" Alvin gave Evelyn a deep look, then told the bodyguard, "Let's get down the mountain quickly! We'll be too late otherwise!"

Raymond had already given orders; there was a lake at the bottom of the mountain.

Several lifeboats were prepared early, just in case of an accident.

In the abyss, Margaret kept falling, facing the cold snow, the fierce frost, and the bone-chilling wind.

Her hands were still tightly bound by ropes.

She saw Raymond falling too. He reached out, trying to grab the rope tied around her wrists.

But the wind was too strong and the falling speed was too fast, leaving Raymond unable to grab onto anything.

Just like he couldn't hold onto their broken marriage, the unfaithful Margaret, or their once-sweet but short-lived past.

He couldn't hold onto anything. Everything had happened, whether it should or shouldn't.

Raymond realized that in the face of fate, he was as weak as an ant. What good were power and influence?

Reaching the pinnacle of power and avenging his great enemy, what good was it? He couldn't change anything!

He couldn't even keep his wife, the beloved Margaret.

The cold wind blew Margaret's hair onto Raymond's face, and its thick and dense strands, like an impenetrable net, suffocated him.

Margaret felt her clothes being suddenly lifted by the wind.

She looked at Raymond; he still had the same features as when they first met.

He had lost his youthful innocence and looked more mature.

Margaret never thought she would die with Raymond, who cursed her to die!

The mountain wind howled, making her breathing become rapid.

Margaret suddenly thought of when she was a freshman in college.

She was the student council president, responsible for welcoming new students.

In the vast sea of people, Raymond was brought to her by her best friend Sarah, crossing the crowd.

She looked up and saw Raymond.

He was wearing a faded denim jacket, and it was very thin.

It was the middle of winter, and it was snowing heavily. She was cold even in her down jacket, but he wore so little, yet his gaze meeting hers was not timid.

Instead, he frowned. Seeing her for the first time, he frowned. He didn't flatter or please her. Margaret had never seen such a man before. She thought she wanted to conquer him.

Later, she learned that Raymond wore so little not to toughen up but because he was too poor, an orphan from the deep mountains.

His tuition was sponsored by Marlon.

His monthly living expenses were also given by Marlon.

But Margaret never saw him eat good food. Instead, he liked the cheapest meals, wore the cheapest clothes, and spent all his time in the library or making money.

When they started dating, Margaret curiously asked, "My dad gives you money every month. Why do you spend so little? What are you saving it for?"

"To start a business. To change my fate," Raymond told her.

Margaret wasn't surprised by this answer because she knew Raymond wasn't an ordinary person and wouldn't be content with a life of poverty.

"Starting a business requires a lot of money. You're saving too slowly. There's a shortcut. Want me to tell you?"

"Is it marrying you?" Raymond smiled and pulled her into his arms.

He pinched Margaret's slender waist, their foreheads touching.

"Marrying me is great. My dad only has one child. If you become his son-in-law, my dad values you so much, he'll definitely let you inherit the Hughes Group."

"You never thought about inheriting The Hughes Group?" Raymond asked.

"I just want an easy life. Besides, with you, why should I make myself so tired? Raymond, think about it. Marry me. Marrying me is definitely a low investment, high return." Margaret kissed the corner of his lips, teasing him.

He took the lead, quickly making Margaret unable to resist.

Margaret thought of the past and found it quite funny.

Raymond must have known about the shortcut of marrying her. He probably thought of it before she did.

She thought Raymond's words back then were only half true.

Starting a business, the second half should be revenge.

Fortunately, everything was over.

The good, the bad, the tired, the heartache, none of it mattered to her anymore.

Margaret closed her eyes, letting her body continue to fall.

She would soon see her parents.

She knew they had been waiting for her for a long time.

With a loud crash, Margaret's body broke through the frozen lake surface, and pain spread from her limbs.

As she sank into the lake, the water flooded into Margaret's down jacket, her eyes, and her mouth, making her shiver all over while her body kept sinking deeper and deeper.

'Dad, Mom, I am coming to find you.' Margaret thought.
