Chapter 224 He Wants to Go Home

Even though the power was out, the ward wasn't too dark.Moonlight, clear as water, streamed in and lit up the place pretty well.

The curtains by the window swayed a bit in the breeze, casting all these cool, mottled shadows on the floor.

Sarah had on this mask that covered her whole face except for her eyes.

When she walked in, Marlon was already out cold, eyes shut tight.

Sarah, with gloves on, moved slowly towards Marlon. She'd already made up her mind to kill him with her gloved hands.

Margaret only managed to marry Raymond because she had a good family backing her.

The biggest link between Raymond and Margaret was Marlon.

Without Marlon, Sarah figured Margaret would definitely split from Raymond.

The thought of Margaret watching Marlon die before her made Sarah chuckle.

Not wanting to get caught, Sarah tiptoed over to Marlon, who stayed fast asleep.

Sarah sneered, thinking, "Marlon's about to die, and he's sleeping like a baby! Perfect, no one will know!"

With that thought, Sarah's eyes landed on the fruit plate on the cabinet, which had a fruit knife in it. She picked up the knife with her gloved fingers and quietly placed it in Marlon's hand.

Marlon felt something weird and suddenly opened his eyes.

Sarah freaked out, her heart pounding, but she was in too deep to back out now.

Marlon seemed to get what she was up to and started to yell.

Sarah, worried he'd wake someone, quickly covered his mouth with her other hand. "Marlon, stay still. Today's your last day."

Saying that, Sarah grabbed his hand holding the knife and tried to force it towards his heart.

Marlon was pretty strong too, so they were stuck in a struggle.

The knife's tip was about to pierce his hospital gown, and Marlon's eyes went wide as he bit down on Sarah's hand, making her let go in pain.

Marlon cried out desperately, reaching for the help button, but with the power out, it was useless.

When the knife came at him again, Marlon shook his head frantically.

He didn't want to die; he had just woken up and hadn't lived enough.

But he couldn't stand up, had no strength, and couldn't dodge.

Was this it for him?

Just as he was about to accept his fate, the ward door suddenly opened.

Nancy came back with water and saw someone in the ward. "Who are you?"

Sarah cursed under her breath, realizing she couldn't go through with it today.

She had to play it cool, turning to Nancy and speaking in a muffled voice, "I'm here to visit the patient, but I got the wrong room. He looks thirsty; you should get him some water."

"Well, okay." Nancy didn't suspect much.

Sarah turned to leave the ward.

Marlon panicked, crying out and falling off the bed.

His lips moved, tears welling up, trying to signal Nancy to stop Sarah.

But he couldn't speak, and Nancy didn't get it.

Sarah left the hospital, and as she did, the dark hospital suddenly lit up; the power was back.

Hubert called, worried, "Did you get out?"

"Don't even start, Nancy interrupted me! I was so close!" Sarah bit her lip in frustration. "Marlon is really lucky."

Last time Sarah tried to kill Margaret, she pushed her into the river, but Margaret survived.

Hubert wasn't mad, just trying to comfort her, "You missed this chance; it's gonna be even harder to find another."

"Shut up," Sarah snapped and hung up angrily.

Back in the ward, Nancy got a nurse to help Marlon back onto the bed.

Marlon cried out.

Nancy asked if he was thirsty or hungry; he shook his head.

Frustrated, he threw everything off the fruit plate.

The nurse, scared, left the ward.

Nancy picked up the stuff from the floor. "Calm down, I just went to get some water. I know you don't want me to leave your side."

Marlon shouted at her.

Nancy was confused, not getting what he was trying to say.

Finally, she went to the nurse's station, grabbed some paper and a pen, and handed them to him. "Marlon, write it down."

Marlon wanted to write that a woman in a red dress tried to kill him.

But he had no strength and couldn't write properly.

Frustrated, he broke the pen, crumpled the paper, and tossed it in the trash.

Marlon felt useless. He used to be healthy, and now he couldn't stand, speak, or even hold a pen.

Tears streamed down his face in frustration.

Nancy, seeing him like this, got scared.

She wanted to call Margaret but didn't want to wake her, so she waited until the next morning.

When Margaret arrived with breakfast, Marlon forced a smile when he saw her.

Margaret thought he hadn't slept well and didn't think much of it. She opened the thermos for him to eat, but he refused, gesturing to her.

"Dad, what are you saying?" Margaret didn't understand either.

Nancy, crying, wiped her tears. "Your dad is mad at me. The power went out last night, and I left to get water. When I came back, he was like this."

Marlon shook his head and waved his hands at them.

Margaret started to get it. "Dad, are you saying you want to leave the hospital and recover at home?"

Marlon smiled excitedly and nodded.

The hospital was too dangerous; someone wanted to harm him. He thought he'd be safer at home.

Once he got his strength back, he'd tell Margaret someone wanted to kill him.

Nancy objected. "No, Marlon, you just woke up. You need to stay in the hospital to recover. Once you can walk, we'll leave."

Marlon shouted at her in frustration.

"Marlon, I'm thinking of your health. Why are you mad at me?" Nancy frowned, tears of frustration falling.

Marlon, agitated, shook his head and waved his hands more vigorously, trying to speak but failing each time.

But Margaret could tell he wanted to go home.

"Mom, it's almost New Year's Eve. Let's fulfill Dad's wish and let him go home. We can all be together. The doctor can come to our villa; it's not a problem." Margaret didn't think deeply about why Marlon was so eager to go home, assuming it was because he had been away too long.

Margaret looked at Nancy. "Dad has been in the hospital for so long. If I were him, I'd want to see what home looks like now too."

Hearing that, Marlon seemed relieved, smiling.

"Margaret, will Raymond agree to your dad going home? Maybe you should discuss it with him first?" Nancy was still concerned.
