Chapter 205 Daniel Told Raymond the Truth

Margaret was about to shove his hand away but stopped dead in her tracks. She suddenly got a grip. The cost of pushing him away was just too high. She couldn't handle it.

Margaret let out a breath, blinking her dry, sore eyes, and let her fingers, which had just brushed his gray shirt, drop limply.

Daniel noticed this and frowned. "Raymond, can't you see she doesn't want this?" he said.

"Who told you she doesn't want it?" Raymond sneered, then turned to Margaret with a sinister smile. "Margaret, tell Mr. Taylor, do you want me to treat you like this?"

Margaret felt Daniel's worried gaze on her again. Of course, she didn't want it. She wasn't into pain. The air in the mall suddenly felt heavy, maybe because of poor circulation. The suffocating feeling made Margaret's breathing quicken.

People were like that; when they were happy, even the air felt sweet. When they were sad, even breathing was hard. But Margaret couldn't do or change anything even if she didn't want it anymore.

Daniel was a good guy, at least Margaret thought so. He had finally returned to the Taylor Family and was valued by Joe. He deserved a better future. Not to be tangled up with someone as messed up as her.

Margaret looked at Daniel for a long time. Raymond's grip around her waist tightened, clearly unhappy with her actions, and it felt like a warning.

"Daniel, Raymond treats me very well, so you don't need to worry about me," Margaret said calmly. As she spoke, her long, curled eyelashes fluttered like a moth in its final moments.

Raymond's expression softened a lot. He squinted at Daniel provocatively and said, "Did you hear that? Mind your own business."

"Margaret, let's go home." Raymond deliberately provoked Daniel by kissing Margaret on the cheek.

Margaret instinctively wanted to pull away but didn't dare. Luckily, Raymond only kissed her and didn't push it further. They walked past Daniel.

Daniel grabbed Raymond's arm. "Can we talk?" Daniel said seriously.

"I'm not interested in talking to you," Raymond sneered. He never took Daniel seriously. Even though his birth wasn't noble, at least he wasn't an illegitimate child.

To Raymond, illegitimate children were like rats in the gutter, never seeing the light of day. Even if Daniel was now the president of The Taylor Group, wearing the finest clothes, it couldn't change his lowly birth.

Raymond thought to himself, 'Daniel's mother liked to steal, so naturally, Daniel inherited the habit of stealing from others. Daniel is only interested in married women, which isn't surprising.'

Daniel glanced at Margaret, who was held tightly by Raymond, then looked back at Raymond and said, "Are you sure you're not interested in Ms. Hughes' matters?" Daniel's tone was mocking, sarcastic, and provocative.

Raymond's face changed slightly. He let go of Margaret and handed her the car keys. "Wait for me in the car," he said.

He was curious about what Daniel wanted to say. Was it about how he and Margaret lived while traveling in Silverwood? Or about how Margaret secretly aborted their child for Daniel, the illegitimate child?

Margaret worried that Raymond might go crazy and involve Daniel, so she was about to speak.

Raymond saw her concerned look and felt uncomfortable. "You care about him that much? Your relationship is really unusual," he said, his tone heavy.

"No," Margaret quickly replied. She knew Raymond was super suspicious. If she hesitated for even a second, he might take his anger out on Daniel.

Raymond, being sharp as ever, saw right through her. "Then why aren't you leaving?" he snapped.

"Ms. Hughes, don't worry. Mr. Howard is a civilized person, and this is a public place. Nothing will happen," Daniel said gently.

Margaret clenched the car keys in her hand and took the elevator, leaving the mall. Daniel watched her go for a long time. The more he looked, the more he felt like her life was slipping away.

Margaret wasn't in good health at all. She had no vitality, like a flower about to wilt. Even if the petals looked fresh, the stem was rotting from the inside.

Daniel frowned, thinking, 'Has Raymond really not noticed that something's wrong with Margaret's health? Does he really not know, or is he just pretending?'

Raymond saw Daniel's furrowed brow and serious expression and got angry. "Daniel, Margaret is my wife. Haven't you seen enough?" he snapped. Daniel didn't even try to hide his concern in front of him.

Raymond thought Daniel had no taste. Given Margaret's current state, Daniel was still interested in her. How tasteless.

Margaret's figure had completely disappeared from the mall. Daniel turned back to Raymond with honest eyes. "Ms. Hughes and I are just friends. There's nothing between us. Mr. Howard, as her husband, you should trust and love her, not slander her based on your own assumptions."

"She said she's very happy with me," Raymond sneered.

Daniel gave a mocking smile. "Is she really happy?"

That sentence revealed the truth. Of course, Margaret wasn't happy and she wasn't well. They always argued. Even having a child was a negotiation.

"Daniel, just because I don't say something doesn't mean I don't know. I just don't want to argue with you," Raymond sneered, referring to Margaret and Daniel living together in a rented house in Silverwood. Raymond turned to leave.

"If you know, why do you still want her to get pregnant?" Daniel's question came again. He was referring to Margaret's late-stage cancer.

But Raymond didn't catch Daniel's meaning and thought he was provoking him. He turned and smiled coldly. "Daniel, Margaret and I are still married. It's normal for her to have my children. It's her duty."

His real intention was that he felt Margaret was drifting further away from him. So far that he could barely hold on. So he desperately wanted a child. It was ridiculous that his marriage had come to the point where it needed a child to hold it together.

"Raymond, do you really know what I'm talking about?" Daniel asked, looking at him strangely. It seemed like they were talking about different things.

Raymond didn't want to listen to him anymore. He warned him to stay away from Margaret and then walked towards the public elevator.

"Margaret has late-stage liver cancer. She can't get pregnant. If you really love her and want her to live longer, you should take her for an abortion and let her have a liver transplant!" Daniel couldn't hold it in anymore. He had to make it clear. Maybe if Raymond persuaded Margaret, she would listen.
