Chapter 142 What You Fear Will Come
Margaret was rocking a black jacket that really stood out.
Raymond spotted it right away; it was Daniel's jacket. He remembered seeing Daniel wear it once during a meeting at the Hughes Group.
Raymond didn't jump out of the car immediately. Instead, he stayed in the driver's seat, rolled down the window, and lit a cigarette, hoping the smoke would help him chill out.
But even after he finished the cigarette, the two were still chatting away by the van door.
Raymond couldn't take it anymore. He swung open the car door, got out, and said with a cold smirk , "Haven't you two talked enough? How about Daniel comes upstairs for a cup of tea and chats with my wife?"
Margaret didn't need to turn around to know it was Raymond.
She didn't want Raymond to see them, fearing he'd get the wrong idea. But the more she worried, the more it seemed to happen.
"Mr. Taylor, I sincerely entreat you to see to the matter I previously mentioned. And thanks for bringing me back," Margaret said to Daniel with a grateful smile.
She didn't want to smile at all, but she didn't want Daniel to feel bad for her.
"Mrs. Hughes, you're too kind," Daniel said, one hand in his pocket.
Seeing the two of them looking at each other, Raymond was fuming!
Were they treating him like he was invisible?
Raymond yanked the black jacket off her and tossed it at Daniel.
He said to Margaret with a mocking smile, "What? Didn't I buy you clothes? Do you have to wear Daniel's jacket?"
His tone was dripping with sarcasm.
Even though she was used to it, it still hurt her deeply.
Margaret didn't want to argue with Raymond in front of Daniel. She pretended not to see him, grabbed her black handbag, and turned to walk towards the apartment.
Raymond couldn't stand being ignored like that.
He grabbed her wrist and yanked her back.
His large hand gripped her waist, and before she could react, he kissed her on the lips!
She felt a deep sense of humiliation.
Margaret resisted, trying to push him away!
But he locked her throat, dominating her lips, the pain bringing tears to her eyes.
Daniel stepped forward and said in confusion, "Raymond, what are you doing? Can't you see she's crying? Can't you see she's in pain?"
"Daniel, has anyone ever told you that you're particularly annoying and love to meddle in other people's business? What happens between Margaret and me is none of your business. Are you leaving or do you want to join in?" Raymond smiled provocatively at Daniel.
Margaret felt only irony in her ears.
Daniel said in a resolute tone, "Even if you're her husband, you should respect her wishes! Not force her."
"Force her?" Raymond said with a sneer, looking at Margaret in his arms, and smiled gently. "Margaret, tell Daniel, did I force you?"
Margaret didn't want to drag Daniel into this, so she swallowed her grievances and looked at Daniel, saying, "Mr. Taylor, I'm fine. You should leave."
"Did you hear that? Margaret asks you to leave." Raymond's lips curled into a bloodthirsty smile, his eyes full of disdain.
Daniel clenched his fists, but since Margaret had spoken, he couldn't say much more. After all, this was their marital issue.
Thinking about it, Daniel turned and left.
Margaret watched him depart, secretly sighing in relief.
This subtle reaction didn't escape Raymond's notice and felt particularly jarring to him. She was his wife, yet she seemed to care so much about Daniel?
Was her desire for a divorce really because of Daniel, the Taylor Family's black sheep?
Raymond's fingers gripped her chin, forcing her to look at him. "He's gone, and you're still staring? Don't you know how to keep your distance from other men? You're my wife."
He was accusing her of not keeping her distance?
He had no idea that if Daniel hadn't shown up, she would have been in unbearable pain.
Margaret felt her heart had long been shattered by Raymond, impossible to piece back together.
She slapped his hand away and bolted into the apartment.
Then she ran upstairs.
She remembered what Sarah had said. He knew she had a terminal illness, yet he still forced her to have a child!
He didn't care about her life or safety at all!
He cheated, took wedding photos with Sarah and ate the soup Sarah fed him right in front of her!!
What did he take her for?
Margaret ran to the second-floor living room, covering her mouth and crying uncontrollably.
Raymond followed her upstairs, hearing her cries, his brows furrowed deeply.
She lied about having a terminal illness to get a divorce!
She pretended vitamins were painkillers, acting in front of him, and he almost believed her!
Raymond was irritated by her crying. He grabbed her chin and said with a sneer, "Why are you crying? Are you so sad that I interrupted your date with Daniel?"
"Raymond, you're shameless!"
"Stop talking nonsense. Would a shameless person agree to your terms? I even give you a hundred million dollars in cash, prepay fifty million dollars for Marlon's medical expenses and give you fifty percent of the Hughes Group's shares! Margaret, you're ungrateful, treating me like an idiot, aren't you?"
Margaret's chin was almost dislocated by his grip, tears streaming down"You're always playing the victim, aren't you? Aren't you tired of it?"
"Raymond, how did I end up with you! How could I be so stupid to marry you! I was so foolish, this must be my punishment for not listening to my mother!" Margaret laughed bitterly.
That's why she got a terminal illness, why the Hughes Family fell, why Marlon fell down the stairs and remained in a coma. And that's why she still hadn't found the driver who hit Marlon and fled!
Margaret's words made Raymond's face darken. He shouted, "Say that again!"
"I said I regret it! Raymond, I regret meeting you! I regret falling in love with you!" Margaret shouted, her eyes red.
As soon as she finished speaking, Raymond hoisted her onto his shoulder.
His shoulder dug into her uncomfortably, and his pace was exceedingly hurried. Margaret's fists pounded frenetically on his back, "Put me down! Raymond! What are you doing!"m"
Raymond's anger was uncontrollable. He kicked open the master bedroom door.
He threw her forcefully.
She fell onto the large bed.
Then, his large hands tore her down jacket to shreds, the feathers floating helplessly in the night, like her tragic fate.
"I'll make you regret it!" Raymond's eyes were bloodshot. He irritably tore off his tie, yanked Margaret over, and harshly covered her red lips.
