Chapter 276 The Unwelcome Person is You, Raymond

After all, Raymond was the actual controlling shareholder of the Hughes Group, a person of status.

Being scolded and pushed by Nancy in front of so many subordinates damaged his dignity.

Raymond's expression instantly changed, as a layer of frost had settled on his face. He abruptly shook off Nancy's hand, which was tugging at his collar. "Mrs. Hughes, Margaret, and I are still married. Her dad has passed away; I should pay my respects. Are you sure you want to cause trouble on the day of his burial?"

"Who's causing trouble, you or me?" Nancy trembled with anger. She believed it was Raymond who had brought the Hughes Family to this state and caused Marlon's demise.

Margaret felt her scalp tingle from their argument.

She looked at Raymond. Hadn't she told him not to come today? But he still came. Did he think she wasn't suffering enough today?

Margaret didn't want to air the family's dirty laundry in front of others, especially on the day of Marlon's burial. She wanted Marlon to rest in peace.

Margaret stepped in front of Nancy, blocking Raymond, and said to Nancy, "Mom, let him pay his respects."

Nancy exclaimed in shock. "Margaret. He ruined the Hughes Family, and you're still siding with him!"

Raymond's face softened considerably when he saw Margaret speaking up for him.

The anger he felt at the funeral home dissipated on its own.

He was actually easy to appease. As long as she softened her attitude a bit, and was a little more patient, he could calm himself down.

Margaret, with her back to Raymond, couldn't see the smile forming on his lips.

"Mom, today is Dad's burial. Let's not argue and let Dad rest in peace, okay? We can discuss everything else after today," Margaret pleaded, her voice weary.

She no longer loved anyone. Raymond meant nothing to her anymore.

With Marlon's death, her heart had died too.

She wasn't helping Raymond; she just didn't want Marlon's burial day to be ruined.

Nancy calmed down upon hearing this. She didn't want to cause trouble today either and reluctantly nodded. "Just make him leave quickly. Your dad wouldn't want to see him."

Raymond was displeased with Nancy's tone and attitude, and his fists clenched at his sides.

But he thought of the child in Margaret's belly and decided not to argue. Raymond's clenched fists gradually relaxed.

But what he didn't expect was for Margaret to turn around and coldly say to him, "Pay your respects, and then please leave."

"Margaret," Raymond frowned. Was this really her attitude towards him?

He had come all this way to pay his respects to Marlon, not to see her give him a hard time.

Margaret, thinking he was about to argue with her, interrupted with a frown, "I said today is not a day for arguing. Raymond, I will come to you. My dad's matter won't be settled so easily. You don't need to rush to bring up old grievances."

"I came to mourn him. Can't you be a little nicer to me?" Raymond said, laughing in anger.

Margaret sneered. "You're a murderer, and you expect me to show kindness to you?"

Hearing that, Raymond laughed bitterly in anger. Once again, he was being labeled a murderer. Who had he killed? Had he killed Marlon?

Marlon had brought it upon himself, falling from the balcony.

Raymond suddenly felt he could never clear his name.

"Raymond, if you're going to mourn, do it quickly. If not, leave. My dad wouldn't want to see you anyway."

Facing Margaret's cold words, Raymond forcibly suppressed his anger.

Raymond stared intently at the tombstone in front of him.

Marlon was dead so inexplicably, and he had died right in front of him.

Marlon had deliberately set him up. How could he clear his name now?

How could Margaret ever believe him? And she wouldn't easily give him a child now. Their marriage was truly on the brink of collapse.

Thinking of this, Raymond felt agitated.

He thought Marlon was too cunning. When he was young, he had hit Gilbert with his car and had the driver Percy set fire to his house.

His parents had died, and he had almost been burned to death.

Marlon owed him, the Hughes Family owed him, and now he was in a difficult position.

Raymond thought to himself, 'Marlon, you're dead, but you've ruined me.'

Margaret watched Raymond's solitary figure for a long time before looking away.

"Ms. Hughes, don't be too sad." A gentle voice suddenly appeared.

Margaret looked up and saw Daniel, dressed in casual clothes, holding a bouquet of chrysanthemums.

"Mr. Taylor, what brings you here?" Margaret was quite surprised to see him.

Daniel said, "I saw the news in the media and learned that Mr. Hughes had passed away, so I came to pay my respects."

Hearing Daniel's voice, Raymond's hand suddenly stiffened.

He turned around and saw Margaret bowing to Daniel and thanking him.

It was ridiculous. She could be so polite to Daniel, but when she saw him, it was like seeing an enemy.

Daniel, holding the chrysanthemums, walked towards the tombstone.

When he saw Raymond, Daniel smiled, "Mr. Howard, you are here too."

"My dad passed away; shouldn't I be here?" Raymond sneered.

Hearing that, Daniel didn't get angry.

Raymond squinted and paused, "But Mr. Daniel Taylor, you've just taken over as CEO of The Taylor Group. Are you familiar with the business? Aren't you busy working and proving yourself to your dad? What are you doing here? If it weren't for the fact that the heirs of The Taylor Family are either dead or in car accidents, would a bastard like you have a chance to rise? I advise you to focus your energy where it should be, lest Mr. Joe Taylor gets disappointed in you and brings back another bastard to replace you."

"That's none of your concern, Mr. Howard," Daniel replied with a gentle smile.

Raymond, unable to provoke Daniel, smiled and asked, "My dad didn't seem to have much to do with you, did he? There's no need for you to mourn him, right?"

"Raymond, that's enough! Mr. Taylor is my friend, and I won't allow you to make things difficult for him! Mr. Taylor is here to mourn my dad, and our whole family welcomes him," Margaret glared at Raymond, then looked at Nancy. "Mom, you welcome Mr. Taylor, right?"

Nancy nodded, "Of course, the one I don't welcome is you, Raymond!"

Raymond's eyes turned sharp and grim upon hearing this.

What was even more infuriating was that Margaret, the foolish woman, added another stab to his heart. "Did you hear that? The one we truly don't welcome is not Mr. Taylor, but you, Raymond!"
