Chapter 230 I Won't Be Moved

Alvin hopped out of the car in a flash, and Margaret was right behind him.

Thick smoke was pouring out, and the car was already half on fire.

Margaret took a moment to snap out of it.

She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Raymond, who wanted her gone, was in that flipped car. How could he be driving and trying to protect her from this mess?

'Was this all just an accident? Was Raymond not trying to hurt us?' With that thought, Margaret dashed to the overturned Cullinan.

She saw Raymond in the driver's seat, strapped in tight by the seatbelt, eyes closed, wearing a dark suit. The airbags had gone off.

He was out cold, with bright red blood dripping from his handsome face onto his suit jacket, making it even darker.

His glasses were shattered from the impact, sitting on his high-bridged nose.

Margaret was more confused than ever.

The windows were shut tight, trapping him like a caged animal on the brink of death.

Margaret pounded on the window with her hand. "Raymond!"

She couldn't accept that he might be dead. Marlon had killed his parents, and if Raymond died because of her, she felt she deserved to die.

She never wanted him dead, even though he had been harsh and cursed her out.

Margaret was so frantic that tears streamed down her face. The fire was spreading to Raymond's car.

Her hands were numb from pounding, trying to break the glass.

But the window was too strong; she couldn't break it no matter how hard she tried.

"Mrs. Howard, please step aside," A deep voice said.

She wiped her tears and saw Alvin holding a rock.

Margaret stepped aside, and Alvin calmly smashed the window with the rock.

But they still couldn't get Raymond out; he was stuck by the seatbelt.

The fire had already taken over the back of the Cullinan, and the flames were getting bigger, with thick smoke filling Margaret's mouth and nose.

"Alvin, save him, he can't die," Margaret murmured.

Alvin had already ripped off the car door with his bare hands, but Raymond's body was still stuck.

Margaret covered her mouth in desperation, breaking down in tears.

"You fool, all you do is cry when something happens! Raymond is really unlucky to have met you!" A woman suddenly pushed Margaret aside.

She looked up to see Sarah rushing towards Raymond.

Sarah, holding back her sobs, worked with Alvin to save him.

Margaret saw Sarah half-kneeling on the ground covered in glass shards, not caring about her appearance at all.

She was racking her brain trying to find a way to save Raymond.

The flames burned Sarah's fingers, but she didn't give up.

The fire was supposed to burn Raymond, but Sarah used her body to shield him, and the flames burned her face.

Even though a woman's face was incredibly important, Sarah was willing to go to such lengths for Raymond.

Margaret stood there like a fool, watching Sarah risk her life for Raymond.

The sirens of ambulances and fire trucks finally reached them. The firefighters quickly put out the fire.

Raymond was rescued by the police, unconscious, covered in blood, and carried onto a stretcher and into the ambulance.

Sarah, with her face badly burned, was also loaded into the ambulance.

"This couple is really something. I heard she got her face burned saving her husband. What are they gonna do now?" one of the medics said as they hurried into the ambulance.

Margaret watched the ambulance drive away, feeling like an outsider.

No wonder Raymond liked Sarah so much; she was willing to die for him.

But Margaret couldn't; she wouldn't die for any man.

Alvin noticed Margaret staring blankly in the direction the ambulance had gone.

Thinking she was upset, he tried to comfort her, "Mrs. Howard, in life, other people's opinions don't matter. What Mr. Howard thinks of you is what matters most."

Her heart ached at his words.

"Alvin, take my parents home first," Margaret said.

Alvin nodded, and they got back into the car.

Nancy looked at her worriedly. "Margaret, are you okay? Were you scared just now?"

"I'm fine, Mom. Let's go home." Margaret forced a smile.

Alvin drove them to the Hughes Manor.

As soon as they got out of the car, Margaret was stunned.

A row of servants stood at the entrance of the Hughes Manor. These were all the servants Raymond had dismissed, the ones who had taken care of them for a long time, even those who had watched Margaret grow up.

Nancy, pushing Marlon's wheelchair, was also shocked by the scene.

"Welcome home, Mrs. Hughes, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Howard."

"Mrs. Howard, we have cleaned the entire villa, and Mr. Howard has replaced all the furniture with new ones. We hope you are pleased."

They hadn't been back to the Hughes Manor for a long time.

Since she had asked Raymond to help the Hughes Family, she had moved to Raymond's apartment.

The villa was spotless, even every floorboard gleamed. Raymond knew her parents loved cleanliness. Some broken furnishings had also been replaced with new ones.

Nancy's expression softened a bit, and she snorted, "He still has some conscience. But I won't be moved. Without the Hughes Family, he is nothing."

Marlon sighed, patted Nancy's hand, signaling her to say less, especially in front of the servants.

"Mom, take Dad for a walk around the villa. He hasn't been back for a long time; he must miss it," Margaret said.

Nancy nodded and pushed Marlon's wheelchair downstairs.

Alvin looked at Margaret and said softly, "Mrs. Howard, you should go to the hospital to see Mr. Howard. He saved our lives today."

"Alvin, thank you for finding people to clean the Hughes Manor and making my parents so happy," Margaret said gratefully.

He was stunned for a moment, then smiled bitterly. "Mrs. Howard, you should know this was Mr. Howard's idea. Without his orders, I wouldn't have the authority or the courage to make such decisions. The servants were also brought back on his instructions. He actually cares about you."

"Really?" Margaret pursed her lips, thinking, 'Raymond cares about me? Would he torment me, curse me to die, and take wedding photos with Sarah if he cares?'

Alvin smiled meaningfully. "Mrs. Howard, I've wanted to say this for a long time. You can't just look at people with your eyes; you have to use your heart. No matter what grudges you have, Mr. Howard saved your and your parents' lives today. It's only natural and proper for you to visit him in the hospital. You know the current situation of the Hughes Family. There are still many things that need Mr. Howard's support. Don't make him disappointed because of jealousy."
