Chapter 8

When Margaret finally got a good look at the person in front of her, she clenched her fists tight, a flicker of self-mockery in her eyes.

She was really overthinking it. No way it could be Raymond.

If Raymond actually cared about her, the Hughes Family wouldn't be in this mess.

Margaret felt a lump in her throat as she stared at Sarah, who used to be her bestie but now just seemed gross.

Sarah, all dolled up in designer clothes and high heels, covered her lips and giggled, "Oh wow, isn't this the proud and respected Margaret from the Hughes Family? Why are you on your knees begging today? Even when Raymond dumped you, you weren't this pathetic."

Margaret didn't even bother looking at her and said coolly, "Get lost!"

Sarah continued, "Oh, you're about to be ditched, and you're still acting all high and mighty? Margaret, what I can't stand is your holier-than-thou attitude, always making me look bad. I want you to see how I steal Raymond from you.

"Raymond told me you're a total bore in bed, and he has zero interest in you. As a woman, you can't even keep your man; you're such a loser."

Sarah was trying to get under her skin, hoping she'd snap.

But Margaret didn't give her the satisfaction and just said calmly, "Are you leaving on your own, or should I call Raymond to pick you up?"

Sarah cursed, "You! Just wait, I'll make you suffer even more!"

Sarah stomped her foot in anger, adjusted her clothes, and stormed into the Hughes Group building. "Get me a bunch of media, and be quick! Have them come to the Hughes Group immediately!"

Margaret thought this heavy snow would soon pass, but it just kept getting worse.

Making her kneel in the snow was definitely to humiliate Marlon because Nancy loved snow, so Marlon loved snow too.

Maybe Raymond hated her so much that he also hated her family.

Her knees hurt from kneeling, going numb.

The cold snow, after melting, seeped through her black pants and the chill seeped into her bones.

Hearing the sound of high heels clicking on the ground, she looked up.

Sarah was holding Raymond's arm, coming out of the Hughes Group building.

When they were dating, she also wanted to hold his arm like that, but he always refused, especially in public.

She always thought it was because of his personality; he wanted dignity, and being too close to her would make people say he achieved his success by relying on her.

Turned out she was overthinking. What she couldn't do, Sarah could always do.

Margaret stared at him intently; they looked really good together.

Even more ironically, he was wearing the dark green coat she had given him while walking with Sarah.

Sarah held a large umbrella, shielding him from the wind and snow.

Raymond also noticed Margaret in the snow; he thought she had left but didn't expect her to actually be kneeling there.

At this moment, several vans pulled up at the entrance of the Hughes Group.

The doors quickly opened, and countless reporters rushed towards Margaret with cameras.

Before Margaret could react, she was surrounded by the media.

"Raymond," she called out loudly for help, but her voice was scattered by the wind and snow.

Worried that Raymond hadn't heard, she raised her voice several notches. "Raymond, help me! Raymond."

She shouted inside, 'Don't leave me; don't leave me alone to be surrounded by so many media!'
