Chapter 157 She Shouldn't Have Hung Up on Raymond
She didn't want to die. Marlon was still in the hospital, and he hadn't even woken up yet!
Nancy said if anything happened to her, the Hughes Family would be totally done for!
Margaret was kicking herself for being so dumb. Why didn't she listen to the taxi driver? Why did she have to come here alone?
She shouldn't have hung up on Raymond!
The lake water reeked of dead fish, assaulting her nose, eyes, and lips.
Her body was forced to gulp down a ton of nasty water.
Margaret used every ounce of strength, thrashing around like crazy!
"Margaret, stop fighting! You've got late-stage liver cancer, right? You're gonna die sooner or later! What's a few more days? No one's coming to save you today! You're just a burden in this world!"
"If I don't kill you today, Raymond will torture you to death! You know whose idea it was to lure you here? Raymond's! Your husband!"
"He told me that once you're dead, he'd marry me! We've already taken our wedding photos!"
"Margaret, this is your fate! You're destined to lose to me, stop struggling! Maybe if you go quietly, I might even convince Raymond to be nicer to your parents and the Hughes Family."
Sarah's cruel words drilled into her ears relentlessly.
Her head was being shoved down hard.
Margaret's tears flowed uncontrollably. So this was Raymond's idea!
No wonder he was acting so weird, taking her on a trip. He wanted to kill her!
Margaret thought, 'But Raymond, I only have a few days left to live, and I'm carrying your child. Can't you wait a little longer?'
Why did the person she helped turn out to be such a monster?
Margaret was furious, desperate, and helpless!
"Raymond said that even though you're terminally ill, your body is too strong! You just won't die! He can't wait any longer! Margaret, see how much you're hated. Do you really want to keep living in this world?"
And then Sarah pushed her head even deeper.
She couldn't swim, so she naturally couldn't breathe.
Her breathing got more and more rapid, and her hands lost the strength to fight back.
Margaret hazily saw scenes from the past flash before her eyes.
Buying clothes for Sarah.
Sarah introducing Raymond to her.
Their wedding.
He hugged her, kissed her, and whispered, "Margaret, I'll love you always."
Scenes of their first time making love, she was so scared, her body trembling, he gently tucked her hair behind her ear and said, "Margaret, don't be afraid, I'll be very gentle, I won't hurt you."
Scenes of her father Marlon's car accident, urgently needing money, Nancy slapping her face.
Raymond choking her.
Her kneeling before Raymond.
Scenes of a scrap car rushing towards her, she called Raymond for help, but it was Sarah who answered. "He's busy taking a bath, he can't take your call."
Raymond's cold voice echoed in her ears over and over, "Take the medicine!"
"Margaret, if you want me to spare the Hughes Family, if you want me to save Marlon, you have to die!"
She asked him, "Raymond, if one day you find that you've completely lost me, will you be sad? Will you cry?"
"I'll set off fireworks for days and nights at your funeral, celebrating your death! I'll use pink flowers at your funeral, don't you love pink? Your portrait, your urn, everything will be in your favorite color! I'll make your funeral grand! Giving Mrs. Howard all the dignity she deserves!"
"Margaret, you deserve to die a thousand times over!"
"Go confess to my parents! Go atone for your sins!"
Margaret felt her head getting heavier and heavier.
Her whole body was so tired.
All she could see was Raymond's contemptuous smile. Was she hallucinating?
Suddenly, she saw Raymond as he was when they first met.
He was wearing a faded denim jacket, with a black backpack slung over his shoulder. He dressed very plainly.
Margaret, as the student council president, was in charge of the orientation activities, and among so many people, she noticed him at a glance.
Everyone looked at her with respect and flattery.
Only he didn't care about her beauty and noble background.
He stood tall and straight. In that moment, she felt a desire to conquer. She wanted Raymond to fall in love with her!
Margaret's consciousness grew more and more blurred.
She wanted to hug Raymond one last time.
She was about to die, and there would be no more chances.
How ironic, he hated her so much, all of this was his doing, yet she still wanted to hug him one last time.
But when she reached out her hands, wanting to embrace him.
His body instantly turned to nothing, disappearing like smoke.
Then, she saw Raymond standing not far away, wearing a neat suit, without a single wrinkle.
He sat on the sofa, a cigarette smoldering between his fingers, his pants sharp and creaseless, a chill radiating from his cold, indifferent gaze.
"Raymond, save me!" Margaret pleaded with him.
She was being held underwater by Sarah, unable to breathe, unable to save herself.
But Raymond stood up from the sofa.
She thought he was going to save her, but he stabbed her instead.
That stab went straight to her heart.
Margaret's eyes widened, looking at him in shock.
"You're finally dead, I've waited so long!" He stood up, curled his lips in disdain, and turned to leave.
The scenes before Margaret's eyes faded, growing dimmer.
She felt her soul leaving her body.
She saw Sarah throwing her into the lake.
Her whole body floated on the surface of the lake.
Crows circled above her head, screeching madly.
Then, a cold wind blew away her last thoughts.
After doing all this, Sarah collapsed on the grass, muttering, "It's done, Margaret is dead. No one stands in my way anymore. No one can stop me from marrying you, Raymond!"
In fact, no one knew that the boy Margaret sponsored back then was Raymond!
But Sarah lied, saying Raymond was mute and died of a serious illness.
The one who had helped Raymond was clearly Margaret.
She had kept this secret for over ten years! Now, no one would ever uncover this secret again.
Raymond could only be hers, she had invested so much time in Raymond, she couldn't lose, and she wouldn't lose! Any woman Raymond liked, she would destroy, if she couldn't have him, no other woman could.
Meanwhile, in the hotel.
Raymond looked at the number that had been blacklisted, pinched his brow, and knocked on the master bedroom door again.
