Chapter 440 Do You Miss Me Like I Miss You

In the hospital room, Margaret picked up the remote and turned on the TV mounted on the wall.

On the screen, a female news anchor was reporting on Raymond, the president of The Hughes Group, holding a funeral for his wife.

Margaret then saw Raymond, with a head full of white hair, kneeling on the ground.

Her memorial photo was pink.

The flowers were pink too.

Why was Raymond's hair white?

Was he so heartbroken, thinking she was dead?

A wedding turned into a funeral?!

Margaret watched Raymond on the TV, his face tense and cold.

He was wearing a suit, kneeling straight on the ground.

So he loved her more than she imagined!

Otherwise, why would his hair turn white?

He must be cold on the outside but warm on the inside, feeling insecure, holding back his feelings for her.

It had to be that way, definitely.

Margaret's nose tingled.

Tears streamed down uncontrollably, her breathing became rapid.

She wanted to call Raymond, tell him she wasn't dead, that Daniel had saved her!

But she couldn't find her phone.

Margaret curled up helplessly on the hospital bed, crying non-stop, feeling useless, unable to do anything but cry when things went wrong—

The hospital room door opened again.

She looked up and saw Daniel re-entering the room.

He came back with hot food in his hands.

It was local street food.

So he had gone out not just to smoke but also to buy her favorite snacks.

But none of this was what Margaret wanted.

She wished she could grow wings and fly back to Raymond, tell him she was alive, that they should live well, get married.

She threw off the blanket.

Daniel hadn't reacted yet.

Margaret knelt in front of Daniel.

"Margaret, what are you doing?!" Daniel frowned, trying to pull her up.

Margaret's tears fell like rain; "Daniel, please, take me back, take me to Raymond. He thinks I'm dead, he held a funeral for me. We haven't even gotten married, and he's already mourning me as his late wife. He thinks something happened to me, his hair turned white. If I don't go back soon, he'll die. Without me, he won't survive, Daniel."

"Let's dine first." Daniel's heart ached, trying to pull her up.

But she wouldn't get up: "I don't want to eat. I just want to see him, hug him, tell him I'm alive. Daniel, you don't understand my feelings, you've never loved anyone. Even if you don't help me, as long as I have breath, I'll cross the sea of people to reach him."

"Even if you end up hurt?" Daniel asked.

"Yes. I love him. He loves me too, lovers should be together." Margaret's shoulders shook with sobs.

Daniel's throat tightened painfully.

He crouched down, reached out, and gently wiped her tears.

How could he have never loved anyone? He loved more deeply than anyone.

But it was always the wrong time.

"I promise you, I'll take you back."

"Really?"

"Really. But you have to promise me one thing."

"What condition?"

"Eat well, rest well, listen to the doctors, and get healthy. When you're back to normal, I'll take you to him myself."

Margaret wanted to say she couldn't wait, she wanted to go back now.

Daniel frowned. "If you don't agree, there's no discussion. Raymond won't die, he's a grown man, he can handle the pain of loss. When you go back, he'll cherish you more. If you're not willing to let him suffer a bit, I won't help you."

Margaret thought about it. She was in an unfamiliar place. She had no documents or anything with her. Only Daniel in front of her could be trusted.

She nodded. "I agree. But you must keep your word."

"I will. I've never harmed you."

Daniel lifted her from the ground, placed her on the bed, then put the snacks he bought in front of her.

She couldn't eat, her mind was full of Raymond. But she feared Daniel would be upset, change his mind, refuse to take her back, so she forced herself to eat the snacks. She stuffed her mouth full.

"Drink some water." Daniel handed her a cup of water.

She thanked him and took a sip.

'Raymond, I'm not dead yet. I'm alive, saved by a kind person, living well. I'll get better soon, when my health is back to normal, I'll run to you. Raymond, I look forward to the day we meet. I look forward to our wedding photos, getting married, a happy, sweet life.' Margaret wondered.

Since promising to take her back, Daniel noticed she had a new spirit. She ate on time, did her rehab, went for walks. She recovered faster and faster. Daniel saw her smile growing brighter, her eyes shining. But that light had nothing to do with him.

The next day, bringing her food, Daniel saw her head down, drawing with a pen.

"What are you drawing?" He curiously leaned over.

Margaret was startled, looked up, saw it was Daniel, and relaxed.

Daniel looked down, saw a sketch of a man carrying a girl. A few rough strokes, he recognized it.

"Is that you and Raymond?" Daniel placed the food aside, smiling.

Margaret replied, "He's very reserved, never shows affection in public. This was the only time he carried me home. I had to trick him."

"How did you trick him?" Daniel crossed his arms, intrigued.

Margaret thought back, smiling. "We were shopping, I asked him to carry me, he refused. So I pretended to twist my ankle and shouted in the street, ‘Raymond, your girlfriend twisted her ankle, aren't you going to carry her?'"

"And then he carried you?"

"He was egged on by the crowd, they all told him to carry me. He had no choice."

"Such a small thing, you remember so clearly? Didn't you lose your memory?" Daniel teased.

Margaret said, "It shows we're true love, I forgot everyone else, but I remember him. It's fate. We're meant to be husband and wife, never apart."

Meantime, she thought, 'Raymond, my health is getting better, soon we'll meet. I miss you, Raymond. Do you miss me too?'
